We stayed for the Lake Biwa Fireworks Festival. I couldn't get a Reservation around Otsu that fit my budget, so I took an accommodation in Kyoto. The check-in process was easy because I registered as a member. Accommodation tax was already included. The reception is kind and courteous. There is no welcome drink available. The room had a king bed about 180cm wide. There is also a round table outside the installation table, which is convenient. Two chairs have casters so you don't have to move around. Electric kettles and alarm clocks are available. There is no luggage rack, air purifier or safe. There is a step of over 20 cm at the entrance of the bathroom, so I was very careful to enter and exit. The public bath "Genyo no Yu" is on the second floor. Safety deposit boxes, scales and hair conditioners are available. There is an inner bath and an outer bath, with a smaller tub and a ceramic bath (tsuboyu). Overnight, August 8, 2024.

Great location, 3 min walk from Kyoto station. Quick check in and good service. My room 237 is located right in front of the spa stairs, very convenient to access spa but also very noisy with people going to spa (close at 2am). Spa is nice with indoor and outdoor pools. I enjoyed the single seater spa most. Room is good and compact, have everything you need. Good mattress and nice pillows. Electrical socket usb, power plug by the bed side. Along street, there’s only a seven eleven, so need to go Kyoto station for eatery. Overall good stay.

Air conditioning too warm and too dry, quilt too thick, pillow too hard, bed too soft, public bath too crowded. First time I've tried out APA Hotel and was badly impressed. Fortunately we booked one night only because we arrived late in the evening and we prefer a hotel near Kyoto station. Cleanliness is ok as a Japanese hotel. Otherwise, not recommended.

The hotel is very conveniently located very close to Kyoto’s main railway station. Staff were friendly, efficient and welcoming with good English spoken throughout. Like most Japanese hotels both the room and the hotel generally, were spotlessly clean. The room was a good size for single occupancy. The adjoining restaurant to the hotel provided an excellent, varied buffet breakfast. Other facilities provide within the hotel included vending machines, laundromat and a spa bath area.

We have stayed 4 nights and what I have missed is a closet to be able to leave the clothes that should be inside the suitcase. Otherwise we have had two large beds each with a kettle, refrigerator, daily coffee service etc... Very good. It has laundry for 300 yen and a good Japanese hot water bath. We have not had breakfast included but there are microwaves available on some floors so you can buy food outside.

[Good location, but terrible customer service to Foreigners]
Location and rooms are good.
Service from counter staff was absolutely terrible on one instance.
I checked in on 17 Jun, around 7.35pm. The trainee staff (she) serving me was unfriendly, and lacked warmth. She however had a total change in attitude with another local guest. I feel that her attitude is targeted to foreigners.
When we asked for our luggage, she gave us a face full of attitude and pushed the luggage to us in a very rude manner. This is not what I expected of APA Hotel. The other APA hotels I've been to have been exceptional, but this experience has really made me disappointed.
I certainly hope APA Kyoto Ekihigashi does something about this. This is totally unacceptable.

Well placed within walking distance of Kyoto station. Very comfortable room including dressing gown for the bath and toiletries. Good shower. There is also an onsen, relatively compact but everything you need.
