From 23 Sept 2019: Thanks so much to Sara Pope and staff of the Sky Grill Restaurant, 30th floor, Portopia Hotel in Kobe. They made my son's 21st birthday dinner extra special by reserving a separate room for us overlooking the lights of Kobe harbour. Our jaws dropped when we saw the sight. The food was amazing - so many choices and each one a delicacy, including a carvery with lamb and beef, succulent and tender.
We were waited on like royalty - thanks to the server (I didn't get his name). We chose the regular meal (¥5000 pp) but they also do a 'all you can drink' option. We selected our own bottle of wine and beer. A special touch was the birthday plate for my son which was totally unexpected. This was an exoerience we will never forget. The bonus was the free shuttle from Kobe bus station (M-Int building, bay 8) which made it so easy to get to the venue and back to Sannomiya station. I highly recommend this restaurant and hotel.

Stayed in the South Resort Twin Room, the room was large enough for four beds to be neatly set up with ample space for our luggages and movements... Essential toiletries were provided. There was a good-sized bathtub together with the standing shower, would prefer not to climb in and out for the bathtub for taking a shower. Overall, the room is dated but clean. Breakfast was served in a hall instead of a restaurant, seats were placed outside the hall for the waiting guests - it was thoughtful but not desired. We drove out to have our breakfast at a little cafe in the residential as there were no other options within walking distance. Ample parking lots were available at JPY800 per day in the building just across the hotel lobby. A train station and Ikea could be seen from our room but we did not explore there... Last but not least, need to pay to use the hotel facilities such as the pool and gym - normally not chargeable in other hotels.

About our breakfast, usually we prepare a restaurant (it is at 30th floor) and guest can choose at the morning. Pedestrian deck from Port Liner Civic Square station You can come to the hotel without getting wet in. Of course, there is also a free shuttle bus from Minto Kobe in Sannomiya, which is also convenient, with flights every 20 minutes. The lobby atmosphere is particularly good at the stylish hotel. The night view from the upper floors was also lovely, and I used it for the night before the flight departing from Kobe Airport, but I wore it late at night and Check-out in the early morning, so even though it is a good hotel, I am wasting my time, and I would like to be taken care of again with a normal stay.

I stayed at the newly opened ``Celebrity Suite'', but it was a lie that my ``mind and body were in good shape''. The air conditioner in the guest room didn't work at all, and even though it was set to 18℃, the temperature felt over 25℃. On the first day, I managed to get some sleep by opening the window and running a fan, but I was completely sleep deprived and felt very tired the next day. Early the next morning, I asked the hotel to adjust the air conditioner in the guest room, but they didn't take any measures or come up with an alternative until the night. They said, ``It costs 30 million yen to adjust the central heat source (a complete lie), so we can't do it. "Open the small ventilation window and sleep with a fan." ``It says that you should close your windows when it's raining or strong winds, but does that mean you should sleep with your windows open even in the rain or strong winds?'' When asked, the answer was ``yes.'' ``I understand that the hotel doesn't care what happens to the guest rooms. However, because the hotel doesn't want to adjust the central heat source in rooms that cost 69,000 to 87,000 yen per night, they ignore the guest's comfort and open the windows. When I said, ``I refuse the instructions to open the door, turn on the fan, and go to sleep because I don't understand the instructions,'' I said, ``I won't take any further action.'' "Are you refused accommodation without taking any action? If so, we gave the hotel one day to consider countermeasures, but if you are refused accommodation in the middle of the night due to the hotel's negligence, today's accommodation fee will be I won't pay. Also, if you ask me to go home tomorrow, my husband will have to take a day off, so I will ask for compensation for his absence from work.''When I countered that, ``I didn't ask him to go home.'' Even after about two hours had passed since we started talking, the hotel was just forcing us, the guests, to be patient and had no alternative plans. Since my husband works early in the morning, his sleep time is getting shorter and shorter, so I suggested, ``Are there any other suites available just for tonight?'' Finally, only my husband slept in a separate room (he had already slept for 3 hours). (The room temperature is low even without air conditioning as it is a room on the north side.) I open the window and turn on the fan in the seemingly luxurious guesthouse room I've been staying in since yesterday, in order to get my husband to bed early and also because of my luggage, but in the end I don't get any sleep. I realized that ``Celebrity suites are expensive and physically and mentally tiring rooms.'' I understood that ``totonou'' meant that hotels were treating expensive rooms as if they were guesthouses to ``make profits.''

There is also a private multi-storey car park for a fee of 800 yen. There are two buildings, the Main Building and the South Building, but we recommend the South Building. The reason is that there is a veranda that is spacious and has high-end furnishings, like a suite, and has a view of Kobe Port. Accommodation is slightly more expensive than the main building, but it is worth more. It's very rare to find a convenience store in a high-grade hotel. It is good to use it immediately when you are hungry. Buffet-style breakfast is served at Gokoku on the 30th floor of the main building. It is wonderful to enjoy delicious meals while overlooking the Port of Kobe. When you stay here, you will realize that it is a hotel with high satisfaction.

We used this hotel as a base of operation between my wife's work conference (5 mins walk away) and my couple of days in Kobe. We weren't too sure what to expect from the photos online, but actually we're really pleasantly surprised. It's a very grand-looking hotel - possibly slightly old fashioned, but not overly so and you can forgive that for how shiny and sleek everything is. They run a smooth operation too, the staff are extremely polite and professional (you feel a bit like a VIP coming in). Rooms are pretty big, with some confusing buttons.
They run a free and regular shuttle service that leaves the hotel every 20 mins - this takes 20 mins to get to the main shopping area in Kobe and 30 mins to reach the shinkansen station. Very convenient.
Overall, a very reasonable and pleasant place to stay if you're doing Kobe and don't mind a short trip into the centre.

I booked this place for a Southern All Stars concert. It was very close to the venue and very convenient on foot on the way back and forth. The room was upgraded from the time of reservation to a large room with a view on the 15th floor of the South Wing. It looked a bit old-fashioned, but it had a high-end feel and was 5 so far, but when I started sleeping, I found out there were 3 problems. 1) There was an occasional ticking noise from the air conditioner blower, which kept my wife from sleeping much. 2) Is the bed old enough for you? Every time I took a breath, I heard the springs creak and I couldn't sleep for more than an hour. 3) The discharge window leading to the veranda is half-sealed, or there is always a sound that feels like air leaking and is uncomfortable Breakfast was excellent, which is even more disappointing. We recommend that you perform maintenance

You have to take the portline (similar to a monorail) to reach the hotel from central Kobe. The hotel is pretty big with three restaurants on the top floor.
The rooms are very spacious, like an international hotel size, not the standard Japanese size. The view from the room was very nice as you could see all the city from it.

This hotel was built when Kobe was at its most prosperous. Although it is quite old, it is well-maintained and reassuring, and the festive New Year atmosphere and service made for a fun and comfortable stay. It is also easily accessible by shuttle bus from Shin-Kobe and Sannomiya. You can also go to the recommended "Kobe Animal Kingdom" in 15 minutes on foot (2 stations on the Port Liner).

It had been a while since I last stayed at the Portopia Hotel. Curves were used effectively throughout, and the elegant, calm colors and high-ceilinged lobby were a sight to behold. I was relieved to see that the Portopia Hotel, which I loved, was just as luxurious as ever. A new discovery this time was the specialty shopping area on the second floor. Although small, each shop had an attractive selection of goods and good prices. As a result, I ended up spending a lot of time there, unexpectedly, enjoying conversations at each shop.

Hello! I forgot many things, but after arrival we used AirPort shuttle to the port, than ferry to Kobe airport and than small electric train directly to Portopia. Not expensive, as I remember. It was not very complicated. And It took about 90 minutes( I hope:-))
To get to Sannomiya station( cca center) is the best to take hotel shuttle bus(free), It goes each hour. Or the same train ,which starts in Kobe airport.
Maybe it´s too late and you are back from Japan:-)))

" The Portliner railway line has a stop at the hotel (between Kobe Airport and Sannomiya station). The ferry to Osaka Airport leaves from Kobe Airport, very convenient."
There are more places to choose from in the Kobe area.
