We stayed for 4 nights in the Bihai tower. The room was very nice, roomy and clean. The furniture is a little bit older style. For the next stay, I will stay in the Baiyun tower instead because it is closer to the main attractions (lobby, restaurant, taxi, etc.). However, the wifi was bad... smartphones and ipads didn't work most of the time! The breakfast buffet was a good value (if booked the night before) for the price paid.
We are a couple who stayed here for 2 nights, from 11-13 November. The hotel is large. Its location was good for visiting the temples and museums we wanted to see in Yuexiu. Our room was a reasonable size (though definitely not the 40 sq m claimed on its website, probably instead about 28-30 sq m). The bathroom was good. The curtains effectively blocked out all light when we slept. The room has an iron and an ironing board, plus a safe. Unfortunately, the temperature control in the room does not work, and the bed is as hard as a rock (no springs).
The rooms are huge and clean. The elevators are programmed with the doors open on the lobby floor so hardly ever had to wait. Staff is top-notched; friendly and very helpful. The wifi access was confusing and she helped log in all our smartphones. Wifi worked perfectly in our rooms. Hotel is close to many restaurant and shopping like Beijing Road. There are some street vendors nearby offering great street food. It is close to the subway station. A disadvantage is they do not exchange money at this hotel and they told us to go to a bank but all the banks were closed. It is hard for a foreigner to make a purchase in China without cash because majority of places do not accept foreign issued credit cards even if it is Mastercard or Visa.
A very good 4 nights stay in this central but quiet hotel. It is old but very confortable, clean and the service is top. One thing you must care is asking for a room on the non smoking floors. I was on floor 3 first but changed to floor 5 where all was top
I visited this hotel from July 14 to july 18. Through travel agent, advance payment done. On arrival they say payment not received. So i payed by debit card and confirm payment receipts obtained. On departure they simply said payment not received and i had to psy in US dollar. Receipts obtained. I requested them to refund the extra payment to which they don't reply. Can anyone suggest remedying measures.
