We had to change our booking due to travel changes and they ended up cancelling the booking altogether. When we arrived they said they had no rooms. In fact there were plenty. After a very long discussion they had more than enough rooms available. The rooms were comfortable and clean, breakfast was basic, but there were no coffee or tea in room. They want you to purchase from their on site café. It's ok coffee, but there is a good coffee shop above a flower shop just down the street, I'd suggest going there. I've stayed at Hanting in other cities and their rooms are more comfortable than most other Chinese hotel chains, so I'd recommend it. But stick to your booking, if you have to change, cancel and book again.
This is a very budget hotel, catered to meet travellers on a tight budget or for those who are just looking for a place to sleep. The accommodation itself is located in Guangzhou CBD with the train station 10 mins walk away. Rooms prices are very very cheap, close to Pearl river, although there are no river views. The entrance itself is spacious with a wide reception. The reception staff was limited with speaking Chinese mandarin. Checking in was relatively hassle free after the checking of passports and visas. Upon entering, the lift was old and slightly small, and upon reaching our floor level, the corridors smelled instantly of cigarettes. This was no better inside our actual room, where the spacing was limited to the double bed, and a CRT-TV. Now I have not seen this type of TV for ten years of my life. So I was surprised. In addition, the shower, toilet was located separate to the bathroom sink. There was absolutely no space for luggages, and made moving very hard. The air ventilation in the room with a very small window which did not open, hidden behind broken curtain. The bed was a double bed, however the sheets felt slightly damp, and we were concerned that they had not been washed for a time. Plus the doors look very dodgy... Given the price, this is a very affordable fair hotel. Wifi is "free" but they require an ID number to be registered which is a bit dodgy. If you are after a decent stay, avoid at all costs. However, if you are wanting a budget accommodation without going into a hostel, this is the place to go. …
This is a budget hotel that offers all a budget traveller needs. Rooms are big enough with comfortable beds, a/c, kettle, hair-dryer and tv, just needs a wardrop; don't know why "inns" & "express"es in China don't have wardrops in the rooms! Reception stuff is very helpful, even the lady @ night shift came up herself to fix the problem with basin! Haven't tried the breakfast as only Chinese food was offered and the Subway on the corner offers breakfast options. Location of the hotel is very convenient, on a main street and very close to Haizhu Square metro station & Beijing Lu.
Theare no words to describe how absolutely awful this hotel is, none that could adequately express the filth. It's dirty, unsanitary and inconveniently located in Ganding Guangzhou. They do not: sweep or mop the floors, use good cleaning products, wipe off anything, nor do they care too do any of those things. The breakfast room is located on what looks to be an abandoned floor and there were flying bugs in the room. Not to mention the bugs that are IN the hotel and IN your room!! Yes, I said that there are bugs in this hovel.
My chinese wife wanted to check in with hear own platinum visa card but the management insisted i would also sign ??? Took about more than 20 min.?? for only check-in. Than the next suprise you need to take you own heavy suitcase 2 stairs up, no elevator?? for the first floor ?????????????? The rooms are very basic and normal in the hanting hotels, NO FRIDGE !! Very uncomfortable if you want to keep someting cool. The breakfast was a total waste of money, the chinese food was at 08:30 all finished allready and no refills, the western food was only white toast, no toaster it was broken,(in 10 min. time you can buy a new, i am sure the boss from Hanting can afford one!), coffee the rest was all gone or not availeble. If you can pass this hotel .................
