Detailed Reviews
Great location however the place needs a serious revamp, the rooms look tired and very old furniture, carpets dirty look and the bathrooms yuck! The breakfast was okay but the room is basic and cramped. During breakfast, they were short staffed, the receptionist was also the waitress it was not impressive.
This hotel has great potential but needs a major major facelift. I definitely will not be back.

You can take a walk by the ocean every morning, since hotel is located right there. Nice rooms with sea view. Location is perfect and puts you halfway between Swakopmund and Walvis bay ( 10 minutes drive to either). Very cosy and homely

located along the beach front its one of the few in Swakopmund. We stayed there in a group of 6 people. two of the rooms were fine one needed a revamp. Service could be better for this market. Generally no smiles , only the friendly lady a breakfast area.

Just in case we weren't clear enough. Please don't waste your time here. We arrived after 10 hours of driving through a desert , to be met by an uninterested group of staff kakeling and chatting on their cell phones !
Not only were they not interested in our surprise that the room looked nothing like the one advertised on the website , but they certainly weren't going to make the effort to try and offer an alternative .
Very poor service . Very sad . Won't be back . ever.

Very impressed with this small Hotel, Once we arrived they upgraded us from the luxury room to a Superior room because our DSTV wasn't working. The rooms are very comfortable and have a beautiful Sea View. Private balcony.

The entire experience with this hotel has been extremely disappointing. It started with finding where the hotel was located. We used google maps, and the hotel was incorrectly shown to be in Walvis Bay as it is in long beach. The correct hotel location on google maps is about 15-20 Kms away, we spent a lot of time finding the hotel and this could have been easily fixed. We did inform this upon arrival.
We are very disappointed with the hotel that we booked through Expedia, when we booked protea Marriott burning shore we expected basic standards for any Marriott hotel. Upon arrival we found out that the hotel has changed owners and is bit longer part of protea/Marriott. Moreover the rooms were boiling with no AC or fans. We asked for fans which the staff provided but the fans didn''t do much. Both are kids fell sick and are dehydrated from the heat - we din't get a good nights sleep. We have to escape the hotel room and spend time in our car as the room is unbearable with 35-40 degree temperatures. We expected better from Expedia and protea/Marriott. We are very disappointed and have sick family with us instead of a holiday we had desired.
We did complain to the manager on duty and have sent her a few emails formally but haven't yet received any response.
I would not recommend this hotel till they fix some basic infrastructure.

We had a nice room, not much view. New management, things were crazy. Didn't bother us, right on the beach with a fab location. Maybe a bit difficult to find, stay searching. Breakkie was ok, waitstaff was trying their best. I'd go back for the beach location. And for Marriott people, it's part of the chain. Use your points or just get the points....we only overnite. Going on. Coulda stayed an extra nite.

Although the place could do with a good makeover on the whole it's a decent hotel. The staff were very friendly and although the food tried to be to fancy at times the breakfasts were excellent. My large room overlooked the ocean and was perfect to view the wildlife, seals, dolphins, flamingoes and more.

The Burning Shore used to be a real jewel on the central Namibian coast but unfortunately it is no longer living up to its former glory. Management seems to be absent with very limited staff - we had to wander around the hotel to find someone to check our business group in.
The location is great, even though a bit far from any restaurants.
This remains a hotel that can be great but until Protea is not willing to train the staff and spend a few dollars on maintenance I'd rather skip it for the time being.
