#2 of 19 hotels in Swakopmund
Travellers' Choice
With its extensive, unique and creatively entertaining restaurants, bars, deli, lobby-lounge, sea facing terraces and beach kiosk, set on this historic and iconic site, the Strand Hotel Swakopmund is a destination in itself for all visitors to and residents of Swakopmund. Its architectural inspiration finds its roots deep in Namibian German history and reflects this in a tasteful contemporary manner. The interiors are residential in nature, and the brief to all designers involved is to create a non-hotel hotel. One as charming and welcoming as the town it is in. Simply very warm and comfortable, and as they say in German: "Gemutlich" with a genuine "sense-of-place". Every aspect of the Strand Hotel Swakopmund is being developed according to international four-star standards. It's very possibly going to be the benchmark against which all hotels/lodges in Namibia will be measured. The Strand Hotel Swakopmund is not simply being built, it is being sculptured.

The strand hotel swakopmund is a comfortable, clean and welcoming hotel in Swakopmund. The staff is extremely welcoming and helpful, they even organised a honeymoon surpeise for us! The views from the room were fantastic (sunset was unbelievably nice), and the food in the restaurant was exceptional! We loved the grilled fish especially! Thanks for the great experience! We hope to come back!

Excellent facilities, location, food, service and a must if you love the contrast of sea and desert. A Quad desert ride, a visit to Dune 7, yacht cruise in nearby Walvis Bay, visit to Henties Bay are only a few of the many must do attractions

What matters to me more than anything in a hotel, is quality bed linens and pillows. The Strand Hotel comes through. Everything is of high quality and spotless. It is a lovely hotel to come to after visiting Sossusvlei when you feel as though you’ll never get the sand out of anything. After a couple of nights here, we feel human again! The views from the seafront rooms is delightful - crashing waves and misty mornings.

After spending a week over Easter with my Kids at Strand Hotel, which has become our home over Easter, I went back for business on the 23 to 25 April for business as a Board Member of the Professional Speakers Association of Namibia. One of the mornings during the breakfast buffet I asked a Lady Chef on duty to dish more green and red peppers for me which I enjoyed with my wors, told me that I was finishing the food 😱. Hey it was a buffet... We know that Strand Hotel is one of the most expensive hotels in Namibia.... And I wasn't there on a free or discounted ticket... Sven train your people... Every customer deserves respect. I don't dress fancy but this Chef treated me badly and I was hurt. Thank goodness this time around I was alone. It was clear how differently she treated me, she herself a black full bodied woman, differently from my light skinned brother and sister in front of me. I visit Mokuti, Midgard and Strand once a year and spend alot of money to be insulted by a Cook. Highest level of BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE....

Dear Mercy S, Thank you for taking the time to give us your honest and authentic feedback about your stay at our hotel. It is with great disappointment to have learnt about your less than perfect meal experience at our breakfast restaurant. We value each guest highly, and your experience with our chef, certainly is not part of our values where we embrace all. I can assure you that your comments are valued and will be used to further improve our hosting skills. We are looking forward to welcome you back at one of our wonderful hotels to once again show you our warm, friendly, welcoming and caring service values. Warm Regards

The definition of relaxation and luxury. I loved every minute of my time here and the views from the hotel, the ocean and Swakopmund surroundings made it an absolute fave for me! I went with my family and had a great time. The beach was right at the hotel's doorstep and the excursions were a bus ride away! Everything is accessible from the hotel so whether you want to go to sail at Walvis Bay or dirt bike on the Namib desert, the team at Strand can accommodate all your asks. I even scheduled a sky diving excursion through the hotel! An instagramer's dream as it has so much to offer from the architecture to the decor to the three restaurants. You will not be bored or lack angles to shoot from!
