Room with sea view on the corner to Tiger Reef. Welcoming was average friendly, but reception staff did not know basics like if amount was paid in full previous or the arrival list for the day, which I expect as guest. Room was nice, but clothing (bra and shirt of the previous guest) to be found. Fridge didn’t work, but was replaced immediately after report. Breakfast was also average, info given that it starts at 7am, unfortunately apparently not on Sundays, so we missed breakfast before leaving as this info was not to be found. The gym area did not look inviting to us, so we did not use it, either the swimming pool area on the top of the hotel. It’s a bit sad, as the location is great, but it needs a make over and attention.

Staff looks to be friendly but the hotel need more attention its look very old , reception which is the face of the hotel is too dusty , very old bedding and not to be ironed , . We request for omelette for breakfast ,the plate was not clean ,old and cold but i enjoy the music during my breakfast -the location is well near by the beach and easy to get to center of town .

Staff are friendly but the hotel is very old and needs updating. It has a very old and dusty smell. There was unexpected load shedding (where electricity goes out) for 18 hours and the hotel had no generator. They hadn’t called to see if any other neighboring towns had power until we asked them to do so. We walked to the Strand hotel to find that they had a generator and were kind enough to let us stay there to charge our phones and use wifi.

Dear Valued Guest, We firstly would like to apologize for the sudden cut in electricity due to heavy rains, something totally out of our control. All communication towers were without power thus the inability to communicate telepathically. We however got an official notice of a power cut scheduled for Sunday (A day after the unexpected power cut) and we had made all the necessary arrangements (guest notices, generator etc) for that scheduled day. We would like to thank you for the kind words about our staff and also for choosing us as holiday destination. Despite the unfortunate power outage, we hope to see you again in the future. Yours sincerely, Joedy Matthews

Truly a lovely hotel a short stroll from the beach. Rooms are clean, basic and the sea facing rooms are superbly positioned. Staff are very helpful. Unbelievable sunsets from the roof where you are able to sip of drinks as the sun is swallowed up by the Atlantic Ocean.

I wasn’t sure what to expect as the price I paid was competitive but it turned out to be a pleasant surprise- a relatively new hotel with modern facilities in a good position at the Southern end of town. Friendly efficient receptionist, lift, and fair sized room with balcony overlooking the estuary. Overfilled the kettle which fused the lights but once this was sorted I enjoyed a zzzzz! Walked round this historic town feeling quite safe although a couple of panhandlers tried their luck - unsuccessfully! pre prandial drink on the protected terrace (too windy for the excellent top floor terrace!) and an excellent dinner in the restaurant. Slept well and enjoyed a brekky including omelette- recommended
