Room were spacious and neat and clean. Room service can be improved. There was little noise at night from street, but subsided around 23h00, overall very good value for money. All within walking distance and public transport is superb. I will recommend to any traveller

We stayed at Chez Pepe for a week during our vacation this summer with a travel agency from Czech Republic. We were accomodated at the second floor in apartment no. 5, I think!:) The apartment was spacious, with a big bed, kitchen very well equipped, a sofa and an extra bed, big bathroom with shower and a nice terrace facing the main road and the beach.
First night there was a big party at the disco near Czech Pepe. There was really loud music, but we slept like babies, because of the fact that we were tired from the travel and the isolationwas also good, they have double glazing windows.
They don't offer breakfast, but there was no need because we bought from the supermarket what we liked and ate in the room, in fact outside on the terrace.
The staff was nice and helpful, they cleaned our room everyday, was if we forgot to wash the dishes we would find it cleaned.
We ate twice at their restaurant, it was good the food, but we wanted to try also some others.
The beach is right across the street, which is very convenient because you can go only with your swimming suite and key.
I would recommend this place for families with kids, because you can cook if you want to, but also couples and group of friends. And the value for money is definitely very good! We also had free wifi!!:)

Don't judge this review by its title. Chez Pepe's Apartments are suitable for a great break-away without paying the ridiculous resort rates, but it is NOT a crummy rundown budget flea bag.
The rooms are comfortable, clean and adequately furnished.
The staff were friendly and courteous.
The location is central on the Flic en Flac beach road and great restaurants, small local eateries, banks and a well stocked supermarket is all within comfortable walking distance.
Some nights the club next door might be a bit noisy, but a tasty whisky for a nightcap will help to fall asleep.
The Mauritian Bus/Transport service has a stop 50 meters away and a trip from Flic en Flac to Port Louis costs a mere 34 Rupees. A taxi for the same trip will cost you between 700 and 1000 Rupees. (Ask the friendly staff to direct you to the bus stop. Tickets can be bought on the bus on the driver will tell you where to get the return bus in the Port Louis terminal)
The beach is 30 meters from the apartments and the local Parks Authority keeps it very clean.
Various tour or excursion operators walk the beach daily to advertise their trips. These guys must all be registered with the Mauritian Tourist authority, so if you want to, you are welcome to ask to see their registration documents to avoid being ripped of.
We did a lot of walking through the village and met and spoke to a lot of locals. The people in Flic Flac are very friendly and helpful.

So if you want a Mauritian experience outside the 4 walls of a resort. then Chez Pepe is the place to stay.

Nice furnished appartements. Pleasant setting and seaview. The flat is well equipped. The only downside is the noise from the nearby club untill 4am or so... Nevertheless I recommend this place. No reception but handing of keys well organized.

The staff really need to pay attention to their customers. I scored this as Terrible because it completely outweights the quality of food. Rude staff, being ignored, asking same questions over and over again.Worse thing was getting served after other who arrives after us.

It feels like they are judgemental in terms who would spend the most money. I have family in Mauritius so ive been here a few times in hope the service improves! Its now worse than ever!!

I will never go here again. Get some ingredients, a disposalble BBQ and some drinks and dine on the beach or go else where - dont ruin your experience by going to chez pepe.

This is apartment. It's not a hotel, they will come and change towels, make your bed and clean. Our host Cindy was very very kind and had always a smile. She made our stay very good. We had 17 days there and would recommend this for everyone that needs a cheap, good place to stay. It's a lot of resturants near by and also a store Spar not that far away.
The beach is very close.
Only thing to complain about is the sound from outdoor but i bought earplugs and that worked out fine ( I'm very sensitive to sound)

We only had three days in Mauritius and wanted something by the beach. This was a clean and modern apartment across the street from the beach that was perfect. The price was great, the staff was super helpful and we had everything we needed and more to relax. This was so much more affordable than an all inclusive and there are beaches, restaurants and shopping all within a couple of blocks of the apartment. The apartment is a bit hard to find as there are no street signs in Mauritius. They offer to pick you up at the airport. Take that offer and then if you want to rent a car there is a place about three blocks away you can rent a car. We had come off of a 10 day camping safari and we just wanted to rest and unwind. So having a two bedroom apartment was a wonderful change from a tent. The wifi works in the living room of the apartment and in the hallways. There is a beautiful balcony also that views the beach. If you are planning to cook etc make sure you bring dishwashing soap. We had no intentions of cooking so it wasn't an issue for us.

A resort apartment. A wonderful place to stay in Flic en Flac. Location. Location. Location.
Location is perfect. Our room was so SPACİOUS and CLEAN. Very big balcony overlooking the ocean.. 65 sq. meter with the kitchen. Big bathroom...TV. İn room safe and air conditoner... and price is perfect for budget. What more one can ask for? (We stayed in room 6 and all rooms are not created equal)

It is only 10 minutes easy walk to Spar market .We bought everything we nededed from there. Specially the bread "Baguette A L'ancienne Unite" is the most delicious bread they make. We even brought home with us. I never would have believed I would bring back bread from Mauritius. To have breakfast in the balcony with sea view added much to our pleasure. So is sipping beer & wine and reading book in the balcony.

Underneath of the residence, there is Chez Pepe italian restaurant. They give 20% discount to the hotel customers. Food and service is good. Waiters are nice. There are many restaurants nearby walking distance.

Now, couple of small things can be improved. Towels need to be replaced urgently. They are so worn out and hard, it hurts your skin. Also a drip coffee machine would be appreciated by coffee lovers.

On Fridays and Saturday nights unbearably loud music (it a shame it is called music not noise) coming from next door disco "Shotz Night Club" till 4 am. in the morning. And after 4 am. about half an hour more, youth coming out of disco, continue party on the street and play deafening music with highest decibel from their car. No consideration for anybody. It is so annoying and they throw empty beer bottles on the ground. No way to sleep these days even with ear plug.( I wonder why there are no noise regulations in Mauritus.) But week nights, no noise coming from the street.

In the morning after 8 am, you can buy fresh baguette two door next (on the left) for your breakfast from buffet. They also sell beer. But we preferred to buy A L'ancienne Unite bread from Spar a day before and toast it in the oven for breakfast, after we discovered this delicious bread.Yummy yummy!

Swimming in the ocean, only 20- 25 metres from your apartment is so convenient. Who needs expensive resort hotels?

Last but not least, Sindie is such a lovely girl. She takes care of the place. I truly enjoyed chatting with her. She is so helpful and has a smiling face.

Last day of our stay, our departure was in the evening. We hired a taxi for the whole day for 2500 Rs. He picked us up at 8.00 am. and took us to all the sight seeing places and cities in the south (South and Southwest tour) and dropped us off at the airport at 5.30 pm.

If I go to the Flic en Flac again, I would happily stay here again, but not on Friday & Saturday.

An assortment of apartments most reasonably priced. Set on the Coastal Road overlooking a great beach with coral reef - ideal for swimming. The self catering apartment was spotless and serviced every day. Visit their own site to see comprehensive videos on exactly what each suite looks like. We had double rooms with aircon(an absolute must!) , fully fuctional kitchen , lounge/dining room - balcony.
The suites are above a really good italian restaurant but there are many other cheaper options all around including beach kiosks. There are night clubs and Karaoke bars - drinks are expensive.
Just 10 minutes walk away is a Spar supermarket although there are street shops that sell almost everthing until late. Hire a scooter or hop on a local bus which is cheap and they run regulary.
In summing up I can say that it was a great , friendly place to be and I will certainly be going back - Just to add , We experienced No crime , No aggression , No begging , in fact I did not hear a siren the whole week.
MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
