This is a place that grows on you with time. My first time day,i thought i would stay for only 5days and move,(as i had done for my first weeks on the island, wanting to know everywhere), but i ended up staying for a month plus as i had 2months on the island. You literally can walk to EVERYTHING! i was totally amazed. i wish i had more time on the island,or didnt have to work while there, but just explore and chill. the Staff made good deals for me to explore the island as i had travelled alone...and made me feel like family. Thank you very much. (Was there June until end of July 2018).

We booked at the last minute during high season and were lucky that our taxi driver was able to find any available guesthouse in Flic en Flac. The price was high for Mauritius but Escale Vacances is in a coveted spot, and our last minute booking left us with little options. Upon arrival, I was unimpressed with the concrete building and unattended pool and grounds, but the apartment was more than adequate with a fully stocked kitchen, two bathrooms (one on each level) and two verandas. The best thing about it is the location. Set right across from the beach, it is within walking distance to all amenities including restaurants, shopping, supermarket, bus stop and night life. Even though it is located right in the middle of the Flac en Flac town, it is surprisingly quiet at night. Even though I had a negative first impression, I ended up really enjoying my stay here and appreciating the coziness of the apartment. It isn't for everyone but if you are looking for a simple guesthouse in the best area, this is the place.

Stayed for 2 weeks for business. Manee was very helpful and hooked me up with the best tourist sites and attractions. Car hire and services were the cheapest in the vicinity. Lots of restaurants in walking distance. A minute walk from the beach. Breakfast can be improved.

Review for Holiday.com n Trip Advisor - We 3 ladies - my daughter and my friend and myself did lot of research and zeroed on this beautiful beach villa in Flic en Flac area of Mauritius. There are 3 or 4 such villas in the same building. Ours had 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a hall, kitchen and the most amazing patio at the back with a sofa, dining table and a barbeque. There is a beautiful swimming pool and the sea view is amazing. The villa is all equipped with whatever you need in the house - like washing machine, dish washer, cooking range, fridge, ovens, coffee machines, toaster and crockery, cutlery. There are towels, sheets and a housekeeper cleans the villa daily. You may need to purchase some grocery so you are free to cook meals if you want or there are restaurants at a 10 - 15 minute walking distance. We normally liked to have our morning tea and breakfast in the patio from where we could watch the sky, the mountains and the beautiful sea. We were fortunate to witness the fantastic rainbows on the 1st as well as last day. The beach is like a private one. You can walk or go in the sea and collect sea shells. Just across there is an organization which books for boat rides to swim with whales etc activities. There is just one problem - no public transport. The taxi owners want to fleece you. Fortunately, last 3 days we found a very nice Indian origin cab owner who was very reasonable, polite and knew the region well. This small resort is literally opposite the beach and close to many of the coastal road restaurants. The rooms are not very big, but we chose this because of value for money rather than for luxury. All the apartments have a ground floor living area with a small kitchen opening onto the shared pool area and the bedrooms are upstairs with the bathroom. Some of the furniture has seen better days and the bathroom is a little cramped and dated but for the location and convenience it's perfect for those on a budget.

Hired a car from Manee. She was lovely and the car was the cheapest down the beach (1000 rupees per day). Picked us up from our hotel, gave us some excellent advice. We did 3 days. 1 in the south west, 1 in Grand baie and Port Louis, and 1 going to Ile Aux Cerfs (taxi boat from Trou de douche). Well worth it. Excellent service.

I assumed this would be a basic room. Arrived and was impressed firstly at how close to the beach it was! My room was in fact a mini apartment, kitchen and living room on the ground floor and the loo+bathroom and large bedroom on the too floor. Way bigger than what I thought I'd pay. Close to restaurants and bars, and along a nice quiet part of the beach. The owners were very helpful too and ensured my stay was a pleasant one.

We enjoyed our stay. Staff was friendly and helpful. Apartment was bare-bones but clean and comfortable. The breakfast cook remembered we liked our eggs scrambled. There are many good local restaurants for dinner and a nearby store for lunch provisions. We used a local travel agency for private tours of the island. But the big draw is the beach across the road (look right before crossing) for early morning walks with lots of shade, soft sand and warm water. Rear apartments around the pool are away from the road and quiet.

The self catering apartments are basic but were very adequate for our 2.5 week stay. The apartment was cleaned daily and bedding changed every 2 days. The bed was comfortable and we could cook our own meals. We had no problems and enjoyed the excellent location. The staff were friendly and helpful. This is not a resort, but a good, comfortable base for holidays. Payment is preferred in cash. Car hire can be arranged. Rear apartments are much quieter than the front ones which are on the main road. Very central position in Flic en Flac We would be happy to return for another stay.
