This place is a kind of one you want to stay longer in and return to. It charms you from the very start, tucked behind an unassuming gate and nestled in the lush tropical vegetation – you get the feeling of intimacy right away and that is what you get: personalized service taking care of all your needs by a couple of friendly, attentive and very hospitable owners running the place impeccably. It is not right on the beach, but in return you get the quietness disrupted only by birds’ song and a spacious property where you can choose to stay between a cluster of bungalows and the main house a short walk further on by a lake, where also meals are served with a view. And what meals! This is by far the best food I’ve eaten on Mauritius, and the competition is hard on an island renowned for its food. All my compliments to the star chef of this place, who will even discuss the next day’s menu with you and personally check if you liked the dishes prepared. Back to the rooms, I chose one in the garden and can honestly say this one had one of the most beautiful (complete with tropical flowers on the other side of top-to-bottom glass window) and biggest bathrooms I’ve ever put my feet in, and is probably the cleanest one too. It’s a type of bathroom you’d choose for its own sake and is a big draw of the whole place. Brilliant! The rest of the room is very pleasant too, with comfy bed and pleasant décor. Shortly, you won’t regret choosing this hotel. You can only get pleasantly surprised indeed!

Owners and the team of Horisun are perfect people, all of them. This makes the place special. They were so extremely nice to us, speaking to us quite often, being gebuinly interested in conversations. Accommodation was perfect - small chalet quite spacious room with AC, extremely generous bathroom, all nicely clean. The place has heart, as some items in the room are created by owners themselves. WiFi is not so strong. The chalet next to the reception got it, but not sure of also the other ones. The area is split to two parts - one near directly at the lake (where breakfasts and dinners were served; and there are some rooms as well) with pool and garden. And the next one is on a dusty road to the village, approx. 200 m from the first location. That one consists of these individual chalets with huge bathrooms. Breakfast was nice, served was some fruit, pancake, omelette, juice and tea. Dinner was optional, but definitely worth it. We have tried twice - and the dishes were excellent. Location... this is my "except" from the headline. We stayed there for 5 nights, without a car, aiming for absolute relax. The public beach is approx 20 minutes of walking through african-style village, full of street dogs. Without a car, you feel a bit detached from everything. And the village does not provide much (no solid supermarket, etc..). But that is rather for a different review. In general, I did not like Belle Mare much - public beach not that great (dirty, plastic everywhere), prices everywhere extremely inflated. Coming back to Horisun, everything perfect.

Family-run hotel which takes special care and attention to every guest. You feel very welcomed and very comfortable every day, every night. We spend whole week and enjoyed it all - great breakfasts, superb dinners, spacious and clean rooms (lizards free), very pleasant hospitality. The owner took us for the market to the nearby city and visited supermarket with us. Bikes to borrow for free. Feeling like home :-) Beautiful beach very near by, well located for trips around island (staff can help arrange anything). Well worth of money - would definitely recommend!

We absolutely loved staying at Horisun and had an amazing time. Thank you so much to Sang and their lovely family for making us feel at home during our stay. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable and the bathrooms are amazing. The entire place is lovely decorated. Breakfast is very generous and very tasty. You can’t leave without trying the fabulous home cooked dinners that are on offer at Horisun, best food we’ve tried during our holiday! We loved that it is a family run business with attention to detail and extra efforts being made to make us feel comfortable, which you don’t get at big resorts. We used the free bikes to get around locally, to the very pretty Belle Mare beach it’s only a short walk or ride, also Iles aux Cerfs is close. We hope to be back soon and definitely recommend a stay.

I'm not sure how to start. If you do not want to spend time in a large resort and prefer personal access to the guests you are at the best place. You can choose among the beautiful rooms in the garden with a breathtaking bathroom overlooking tropical plants or tranquility in spacious rooms at the lake. We have fallen in love with view to the lake, new pool, rich breakfasts and incredible dinners - have to try them out. The staff are so kind. We did not feel anywhere so welcome, as well as here. Thanks for this authentic experience. The beautiful beach are 5 minutes by car and you can even ride a bicycle, which is available here.
