#1 of 16 Speciality lodging in Zomba
Zomba Forest Lodge - A haven of peace and quiet, nestled half-way Zomba Mountain within 20 acres of mixed woodland, a real treat for those seeking to escape the daily hustle and bustle. The lodge has no electricity so it is wonderfully atmospheric with candles and paraffin lamps and in the winter, a roaring fire. Zomba Forest Lodge is more than just a lodge, it is a home aways from home and we treat guests that way. Those who choose to stay with us can opt to hike around the mountain, amble around the gardens or spend a hard day relaxing in our stunning gardens. Our rates include your room with en-suite bathroom, full breakfast, lunch and a beautiful 3 course dinner. Please contact us for more information

This was our second time staying with Tom and Petal and we certainly hope not our last! If you are traveling to Zomba you have to stay here. Tom and Petal and all their staff are so welcoming - from the minute you arrive and are greeted by their lovely dogs. They are truly incredible people who care so much about their local community and the mountain - the conservation and reforesting work they do in the area is so inspiring. The lodge is beautiful, with really comfortable beds and hot showers! We have travelled a lot in Malawi and the food is hands down the best we have had here. We are vegetarian and the options available at ZFL are amazing. Tom and Petal even looked back at our previous booking from 2019 to ensure they didn't serve us the same food as then! (Not that we would have minded). In terms of things to do you could easily spend a day without leaving the gardens of ZFL. We are keen hikers and Petal was really helpful in recommending different trails, even sharing her Google map routes so we could find our own way around the mountain. Adherence to covid-19 protocols was the best we have experienced so far in the Malawi so I would have no concerns from that point of view either. In summary if you are looking for amazing food, peace and tranquility as well as beautiful scenery and access to incredible hiking from your doorstep, you will not regret staying here!

I highly recommend to visit ZFL to anyone visiting Malawi. Expect a warm welcome, excellent food and a beautiful peaceful magical place, great for relaxing and doing nothing ( the garden is great, but inside the living room is cosy, nicely decorated (with a fire at night and candle lights), but.. there are many hiking options right from your doorstep..not to be missed! I had an amazing time both times I was there. Slept like a baby. Morning yoga outside on the lawn. The owners and the staff are wonderful and very helpful, and can give you all the info you need on the area. Hope to come again!

We had heard from other people about the Zomba Forest Lodge and already loved what we saw online. But the actual experience was even better than we could've expected! Tom and Petal are the most amazing people. What a warm welcome we received from them and their adorable dogs Saxon and Loki! Great vibes from the start till the end of our stay. The lodge is cozy and the rooms are very comfortable. And just when you think it can't get any better, you get a tremendously tasteful mounth-pleasing meal, fresh and full of flavor. Yes, this is my attempt at alliteration, just like on their menu, which is pure literature! And I'm not even going to try to describe the natural beauty surrounding the lodge. Stunning! They are working so hard with the communities in the area to preserve and restore the forest. I feel they're being way too modest about this. So in short, don't you even dare to doubt making a booking at the Zomba Forest Lodge. I promise you'll love it!

Our two nights at ZFL were unforgettable. Tom & Petal were so welcoming and accomodating throughout our stay. It really felt like we were hosted by old friends. For any nature enthusiasts, Tom & Petals knowledge of the surrounding wildlife was also hugely insightful - sunbirds all over the garden, and an eagle-owl chick calling from the trees in the driveway. And the food! The food was incredible! So inventive with the menu and carried out to perfection. My only regret is that we couldn't stay for a third night as it was fully booked! I guess you can't have it all!

We stayed one night at ZFL but could have stayed a lot longer. Amazing setting in the beautiful forest, great hosts Tom & Petal who went out of their way to make us feel welcome and delicious food. We loved our stay at ZFL and enjoyed a peaceful walk through the forest. Tom & Petal kindly gave us a map for the walk, brought us tasty homemade berry infused gin and were on hand to help from the moment we arrived. Highly recommend.
