From the time you arrive, you are greeted with a broad smile and genuine friendliness.
All staff seem genuinely happy and enthusiastically attend to your requests with a welcoming attitude

Room is neat, very clean and hygenic, decor and set up of the room is what you would expect of a major hotel chain. If you want to spend extended time in your room to relax/sleep, all charging connections work and their are more than enough TV channels to keep you entertained. WIFi is generally strong throughout the hotel, a major plus I feel.

Ammenities- The Gym has more than enough equipment without having to get inventive. The Protea Ryalls Restaurant is functional with what I imagine a good selection for meat eaters, but could do with more options for vegetarians/vegans . the only negative, but, hey, so many positives

I really don’t know how they do it, but, even though they have a behind the scenes professional attitude, they create a relaxed vibe that sinks into the bones.

This has really changed my attitude towards Protea Hotels in general and I will certainly stay at this hotel and more in their chain in future

I pleased with my stay at the Protea Ryalls overall. I emailed in advance to book the airport shuttle and the driver was awaiting with a sign for me. The front desk provided an automatic upgrade to a suite based on my Marriott status, which was not the case at my previous three Protea stays on this same trip in other cities. The hotel has a nice restaurant with a small bar on-site, which is a good bonus if you aren't comfortable walking around too much. I was there on New Years Day, so it was open when outside options were not due to the holiday. Room was clean and everything worked well. The courtyard and pool area of the pool were well maintained.

The Protea Ryalls has a very old world charm to it and with its history and background which is well depicted in the various framed photographs all throughout the hotel. The rooms are relatively small but cozy. There is a great feeling of warmth in the hotel, right from the reception, to the hotel staff, to the restaurant for breakfast and lunch/dinner. The wifi is good and the facilities of gym, swimming pool, spa, restaurants are all very convenient. The hotel also hosts one of the best restaurants and bar in the city called 21Grill. Very nice hotel for business travellers

Dear Samirkhare, Thank you so much for your wonderful review on Tripadvisor. I am very proud to read you have enjoyed the warmth of the entire hotel Team. Did you know the hotel history goes all the way back to 1922? it was a popular stop for travellers 'from Cape to Cairo". 21 Grill is our award winning fine dining restaurant. Some of the favorites dishes are Crocodile tail and the "Jack Daniels' steak. We are looking forward to welcome you again when travel or business brings you back to Blantyre. Warmest regards, Jan-Willem Roenhorst -General Manager-

Worst Protea Hotel I’ve visited in a business trip see the pictures that is all I got to say, the rest is up to you to decide. Mold & hair stuck on the bath-shower curtain. Bath seems like never ever been cleaned with any washing liquid. Only nice thing I can say the hospitality was excellent they did move me to a cleaner room which I was ok with but this shouldn’t be the standards for a Protea hotel.

I recently spent 10 days at Protea Ryalls for a work trip. I have been travelling to Malawi for many years and have stayed at a number of hotels over this time but have to say the service at Ryalls was (on the whole) some of the best I have ever experienced in Malawi. The rooms are comfortable, the food is good (particularly at Grill 21) and the staff are very friendly. There were a couple of minor issues (for example, an order for an early morning breakfast box that was not prepared, and a strange smell coming from the drain in the shower) but on the whole I would highly recommend - particularly if you can get a reasonable rate!

The room with window facing the car park does not offer much view but it was quiet and ideal for purpose since it was a working visit. All amenities to facilitate my comfortable stay were in order. Room service was superb

Found the Rooms were in state of disrepair. Desk had water damage. Tv frame was broken.
The air conditioning failed several times. I asked for room change but was never moved,
I stayed for 14 days, tried to ask for upgrade was told they would try but they never got back to me. Asked the manager for upgrade, he gave me his card but never got back to me either.
Restaurant, room service and valet Staff were very friendly and prompt.

Staff are so friendly and welcoming. Rooms are a little tired but meticulously cleaned and looked after. I was there for two weeks while working and I could t have been happier. Internet comes and goes a little and lighting in the room is not always the best when working late, but very homely place to stay
