Isn’t it great when you research and plan for months, you spend the considerable $$ and you make the effort to travel to an incredibly remote location …. and the experience lives up to every expectation (and more). Anjajavy Lodge is located on a beautiful peninsular, a 90 minute charter flight from Antananarivo, Madagascar. The surrounding protected area is large and contains a diverse range of different ecosystems. It is home to a variety of different plants and creatures, most of which can be found nowhere else in the world. The Lemurs are, of course, the highlight. You will see lemurs! …. climbing, prancing and jumping all around the lodge and surrounding area. The cabins are comfortable, although the air conditioning struggles a little in the late afternoon/evening (make sure you find the electric fan in your room, as it makes sleeping easier). The food is delicious. The staff are very friendly and helpful. And there is a good variety of interesting daily activities. We enjoyed the mangrove sunset cruise, the baobab walk, the tour to see the giant tortoises and the night walk; and we felt 5 nights at the lodge was perfect. And every now and then during your stay - whether enjoying afternoon tea watching the lemurs, sipping a cocktail by the pool or eating a delicious three course meal under the stars - it hits you where you are, and just how incredible it is that you can be so comfortable in somewhere so remote. That is the essence of Anjajavy.

We first visited Anjajavy in 2013, staying for four days, and absolutely loving every minute of it. Over the years we have stayed at hotels across the world, many of which have been exceptional, however, this is the only time we have ever returned to the same hotel, and we were so very glad that we did. The holiday had been booked for 2020, but postponed twice because of covid, so wroth noting this; Throughout Madagascar, ALL guides, drivers, etc. dealing with tourists, have to be vaccinated, which is very reassuring, and something not promoted enough. Anjajavy was still as beautiful as we remembered. The hotel is so remote - over 1 1/2 hour by small plane from the capital, and it really is heaven on Earth. The lodges are very well spaced out, and very spacious, with huge balconies, a corner bath, with shower over, and an extremely comfortable bed. Consider how remote the hotel is, every single meal was incredible, with food of the highest standard, cooked and presented absolutely beautifully. It would be impressive at any restaurant in the world, let alone miles from anywhere, produced by a local chef. (Not to mention local 'wild' honey, which is like nothing else in the world.) The staff, who are almost all Malagasy, are superb: friendly, helpful, polite, and truly treated people as individuals. The guides, who accompanied us on walks through the nature reserve were highly knowledgable, and made each experience extremely rewarding. Our thanks to every single person who helped to make our second visit so enjoyable. So, an absolutely incredible place to stay, even without the wildlife. Add in the lemurs, birds, and beauty of the sunsets, and there really can not be a more perfect spot for a holiday on Earth. One, which I am fairly sure we will return to yet again.

Amazing four night stay at Ajajavy lodge with my partner and sons (12 & 16). A truly magical experience which we can't recommend highly enough! Beautifully spacious individual huts with big downstairs room and balcony and second room for extra space for privacy or some kids (in our case we took two huts). All meals were included and we're really exceptional. Deliciously prepared and as good as in many of the best restaurants back in London. A big surprise given how remote the lodge is. Seeing and experiencing the lemurs every day in the Oasis with delicious tea and biscuits was magical. Daily walks are included in the rate in the morning and afternoon, and fun boat or kayak trips can be arranged including visiting to the giant tortoise project. A big thank you to the whole Anjajavy team!

We had the chance to discover this charming establishment at the beginning of the season and for professional reasons. Indeed, what could be more natural to test what we want to offer our travelers, right? We knew the lodge because of its reputation but we wanted to live the experience to talk about it better. 3 exceptional days in the heart of a breathtaking environmental setting where many ecotourism sites more beautiful than each other, are only a few steps from the lodge. Bungalows with generous volume and comfort allow a peaceful rest facing the sea. The exteriors of the restaurant are one with the surrounding nature and give you the impression of peace and quiet sought after in the heart of these exceptional places. The management and staff also seem in total harmony with these places and their hosts as we end up feeling "almost" at home. Fine and surprising cuisine finish to charm you and give you only a desire .... come back! Thank you for all this and I hope to see you soon.

Anjajavy brings together all the best of Madagascar in one place. The sea and its bay of Moramba (not to be missed), the forest and its lemurs as well as its baobabs, the sky and its unforgettable sunsets. The vacation begins at Ivato airport in Tana where you are fully taken care of. After a perfect flight in a private plane, the welcome from Frédéric, the host, is wonderful. The table is exceptional and worthy of a starred restaurant. This level of service at the end of the world is a real luxury. We cannot thank Frédéric and his entire team enough for taking such good care of us. Hospitality and a sense of service are felt at all positions, whether within the lodge, during excursions or simply on the paths of the estate. At Anjajavy, you book as a customer, but you live the end-to-end experience as a guest.

This was our 4th visit and it is still my favourite place in the world! Anjajavy just has everything - remote, unspoiled location, effortless wildlife watching, water sports, guided walks available every day to see different wonders, walks you can do on your own, sunset boat trip in the mangroves watching fruit bats take off, perfect sandy beach we had to ourselves and lovely swimming pool, delicious food at all meals with snacks available inbetween meals if hunger should strike (unlikely!), charming and helpful staff, delightful villas (the bathrooms have been changed to shower rooms). The tables at dinner were laid in different locations each evening including one just for our family in the oasis which was delightful. We were also given their “dinner under the baobabs” evening which was very special indeed. I would so love to return to paradise!

The stay at this resort was a perfect ending to my holiday in Madagascar. here you could elect to take part in the various activities. Just turn up at the activities counter in the lobby are you are set to go with a very knowledgable and helpful guide. Needless to say the staff were extremely friendly and Tom, the resort manager made it a special effort to make you feel you were a friend more than a paying guest. Special mention must be made of the Chef, whose meals I felt were of Michelin star grade and Alpha, one of the best guides i have ever known.
The villas were very comfortable and coupled with the balcony facing the bay and the sea-breeze, it was pure heaven.
I will definitely recommend a short stay to anybody finishing of their holiday in Madagascar.

Fantastic Lodge with a unique story. The Lodge has been around for 20 years. Everything is still ok but the rooms are outdated. No water pressure, let alone hot water. The staff does their best, but unfortunately they are not trained enough. Friendly, but not always proficient in the language. And everything is a bit clumsy. That's ok, but it's not in proportion to the amount you pay... The excursions are special and give you insight into the country, but you now have to pay extra for them, while in many African lodges this is woven into the overall concept. Resume. As a travel agent I can say that this beautiful concept is not price-quality

Flying into a tiny 'International' airport was exciting, thought I was on a film set! Upon arrival Fred the manager gave us an exceptionally interesting talk about the hotel and its ethos. Before we had even reached the hotel Lemurs entertained us in the trees. What a welcome we received staff lined the entrance with garlands and coconuts making us feel like returning favourite guests. Throughout out stay over Christmas Fred and his staff could not have made us more welcome. Enormous effort had gone into the Christmas festivities, from the local school choir, the nativity play with a real live baby, cattle and goat all playing their roles to the staff putting on a short concert. A truely magical experience.

What an incredible experience. This is the most gorgeous exclusive resort set in isolated splendor on the dramatic coast of north west Madagascar. We expected the best as it is a Relais Chateaux property but it was beyond all expectations. The management and staff are wonderful, the chef incredible and then there are the lemurs. They sit on the balcony of your villa, they perform in the gardens and they dance on the beach. It was magical.
