My girl friends and I arrived in Tawi in the month of February 2021 to celebrate my Big 40. The lodge is tucked away in the Tawi conservancy area and offers a wide array of game for viewing as well as amazing vistas of the Kilimanjaro.

Tawi Lodge is an intimate Haven of luxury and caters quite well for the Traveller looking to lay back and unwind. Staff and the Managers Alison and Pete were ever so helpful and warm and they created an aura of tranquility, homeliness and perfect relaxation. The complimentary cake and birthday barbeque set out on the front lawn overlooking the pool area was the icing on the cake. I'd recommend Tawi Lodge highly because at Tawi you get to meet heart people, a team of workmates who relate like family and a place that will always remind you what an amazing location the Amboseli is.

This was the perfect romantic getaway for my boyfriend and I. The accommodation is spectacular with views of the watering hole and kilimanjaro from the four poster bed, spacious bathtub, shower and even the toilet.
Food was delicious and plentiful and we loved the sundowners.
Pete and Ali were attentive hosts and did everything they could for me when i wasn't feeling well with an upset stomach.
Steven was a knowledgeable and friendly guide and we loved everything about our stay at Tawi Lodge.

Lovely to hear you enjoyed your romantic getaway. Tawi is a very beautiful romantic spot, especially with our little hot tub! Thank you for kind words about the staff and food. We have been working hard to experiment with new dishes and presentation, so great to hear our hard work is paying off. Asante sana for the support and hope to see you back at Tawi soon.

Like most of the other reviewers- we agree that Tawi is a great lodge and certainly not just 3* which you find on google. Rooms are huge, amazing bathrooms with both baths, toilets and showers with a view of Kilimanjaro. Rooms aren't really tents, but more like luxury cottages and the staff and attention to detail makes this a luxurious place to stay. Their eco- approach also means that unlike other lodges there is water available all the time and refillable water bottles so you aren't spending lots on water. The food is pretty good for a safari lodge and very accommodating for dietary requirements and the packed lunches come complete with hot coffee and tea. It is also a lovely place to just hang out if the weather isn't playing ball.  The only negative is that the road through the conservancy  gets pretty treacherous during the rains and makes the journey from the Amboseli park gate difficult. However, on the plus side the conservancy itself has many animals we didn't get to see in the park! In the shoulder seasons and low season - this is a great value option for a luxury lodge in Amboseli.

Thank you for your lovely detailed review of your stay with us at Tawi. We are very proud of our Gold Eco Status rating and work very hard to maintain our eco-rating, so great to hear you saw aspects of that during your stay. We are very lucky to be set in our wonderful private conservancy, full of lots of unique special animals. Thanks againa and hope to see you back at Tawi soon.

We stayed two nights in the brand new two-bedroom suite and WOW! I tend to stay at luxury/high-end properties, but wasn’t really expecting accommodations this luxurious, so it was a very pleasant surprise. The suite is the furthest away from the the main reception and restaurant, but you only need to walk if you prefer to, otherwise they will transport you to the suite. The accommodations were incredibly impressive and have taken the #1 spot for the best accommodations I have ever stayed in! Spacious doesn’t even come close to how much room the suite has. The bathroom is huge, with a soaking tub that looks out to Mt. Kilimanjaro. We spent a lot of time out on the back veranda and watched animals periodically come by. The artwork and little subtle touches within the suite did not go unnoticed. The best part of staying in the suite, however, was Evelyn and Esther, who tended to every and anything we needed within the accommodations. They were wonderful!

The food in the restaurant was plentiful and absolutely delicious. Breakfast, however, didn’t offer too many options. The chef was very good about catering to dietary restrictions and one night, the soup was so delicious, I just had to have another bowl and they quickly obliged.

Now for the rest of the staff…when you initially arrive as well as when you return from game drives, staff is there to offer you a cool towel. This is such a nice touch because the roads are incredibly dusty. Titus introduced us to the dawa cocktail (yum!) and Patrick, our guide, was very knowledgeable of the area and we were able to see so much wildlife as a result. Elizabeth, in guest relations, was AMAZING! She always made time to check on us to ensure we had everything we needed and were enjoying our stay. Her infectious bubbly personality was something we looked forward to everyday. She was the absolute best and made us feel like royalty.

Laundry was included in our stay and wifi is only available in the main lodge area.

The downside of staying at Tawi Lodge is having to actually leave. That was a tough morning. We loved our stay so much and just adored the staff. In our two weeks visiting different countries in Africa, our stay at Tawi Lodge was by far the best!

13 eco-friendly lodge in the Tawi Conservancy about 10-15 minute drive to the Kimana gate of Amboseli park. It is truly a luxurious green oasis, with a beautiful swimming pool in the shadow of Kilimanjaro. There is a water hole right next to the pool/dining area where you can see animals coming for water – in the dry season it is a popular spot for animals including the largest elephants in the park. The lodges are very spacious with a terrace with lounge chairs and table. I think in all of them you can see Kilimanjaro, but #13 which we stayed in seems to be having the most central view from your own bedroom. They are building #14, a family unit.
The staff are very professional, and attentive, really superb service.
We particularly enjoyed the afternoon camel ride (included in your stay) in the conservancy to watch the wildlife in closer distance (the seating itself is not so comfortable but it was an interesting experience). After about 45 minutes on the camel, you arrive at a beautiful spot where (to our surprise) another staff is already there waiting for you with camping chairs, snacks and drinks to enjoy the sunset against the backdrop of Kilimanjaro. On another day you can also choose to be on a guided walk tour in the conservancy.
During the day, the lounge/reception area in the lodge is so homely and airy, with lovely chipping sounds as bird nests are plenty by the windows, that we can spend hours there relaxing, reading books. The fireplace is lit up at dinner time and after our meal we loved to come by the fire to chat until late.
Food is good and we really loved their resh homemade bread, though overall not exceptional. The packed breakfast for our game drives is so thoughtful and tasty. Each of us got a box which has a sandwich with filling according to your order (egg, bacon), sausages, yogurt, juice, pancake, muffin, apple, bananas. Flasks for tea and coffee and mugs are also packed up in a bag for you.
Laundry is included in your stay, which is very helpful as game drives are dusty and dirty clothes quickly build up.
The drive to Amboseli park takes some time so your game drive is longer, but an easy compromise for us to stay at this amazing lodge.
No wifi in the tent, just at reception.

Second trip to Amboseli. We live in Kenya so go to safari lodges often, and Tawi is a great choice. Food was excellent, room was huge as was the bathroom. Mattress very comfortable. Even had a fireplace though rarely cold enough to need one, would be nice atmosphere. While the rooms had tent doors and windows, it was an actual structure with hard walls, so if you are not sure you like the "exposure" to animals a tented camp offers, this might be a plus. Watering hole by the pool so the view might be elephants or zebra or who knows, and this is only if Kilimanjaro isn't out...if it is, wow, it dominates the common areas such as the pool, dining room, lounge, and fire pit. Guide and staff were all very good.

From stepping our of my car on arrival to being waved off on departure, we felt welcome and warmly cared for. The lodge managers were both there to greet up personally with staff on hand offering a warm scented towel and cold drink to help evaporate the stresses of travel. We found the managers to be genial, consistently going out of their way to ensure every detail of our stay was supported and luxurious.

The staff at the lodge were simply superb! All our needs were met in the most unobtrusive manner; professional and courteous they brought a smile to our faces on every interaction. The chef is worthy of particular praise, the food was fantastic throughout. Unique boutique dining with great variety and selection. The food was delicious and any manner of styles could be arranged.

The setting is great with an impressive view of Kilimanjaro as a back drop and a very bust watering hole mere meters from the edge of decking area and poolside. As a family with young kids, there was lots to do and the kids were kept busy. Never did I get a sense that frolicking children across the grounds were seen as an embuggerance.

I could not recommend this lodge enough and we will certainly be staying there again in the near future.

Tawi Lodge is such a cool special place. I am glad we went in the wet season as I hear the dust can be a challenge for both the customers and the staff. We visited Nov 6th - 9th, 2023

Gabriel picked us up at the airport and was so happy to offer us a Tusker (Local beer). He was gracious and patient as we had to roll through 5 different credit cards to pay try and pay the Park fees. Stupid banks…LOL.

Once we arrived at Tawi, Elizabeth greeted us with such a spunky fire that it left us smiling as we checked into our room. This is a very calm environment and great as it only has 13 rooms, so you can get to know the staff and other guests. We did a Full Board experience, as the portions for breakfast and dinner were more than enough for the two of us.

We only stayed 3 nights and went on two game drives with Gabriel and a sundowner. Gabriel is very informative in his game drives; shared some local cultural knowledge, and made us laugh with some of his adventurous stories. My favorite is the one about the turtle. (You have to go to hear it…LOL)

Titus was extremely attentive in both dinner and bartender services and always made sure we were taken care of while at Tawi. His servers, although shy, were also very attentive and made sure we did not want for anything.

I did use the pool, even though it was their winter. Still 82 degrees Fahrenheit. I think they thought I was crazy, since they were all in winter clothes, but it was kind of nice to have it all to myself.

We were recommended to take a nature walk with Larusha, the local Masai Warrior, and then meet up with Gabriel for a sundowner. We learned a great deal about their local culture, the animals, and plants. I even think their toothbrush stick works better than the toothbrush I brought! When catching up with Gabriel for some snacks and wine as the sun went down, we had some more in depth conversations around family, culture, and life in general. Getting to know the people here in Kenya was my favorite part of this visit!

The lodge is hidden away in the Tawi Conservancy just outside Amboseli National Park. The 13 well spaced cottages have views across the park to Mount Kilimanjaro that at the moment has snow on the summit. The cottages and lodge seem to capture an atmosphere of relaxed but not over the top luxury and as a previous reviewer said the excellent staff are "unobtrusively attentive" - a testament to good management. The lodge is a perfect place to relax in the middle of the day between ventures unto the conservancy and the national park with a large pool and various attractive niches to read or snooze. The food is excellent and our dietary preferences were easily accommodated. As in most Kenya hotels and lodges Covid regulations are strictly observed. Our guide, Julius has an impressive level of knowledge whether it is on the hundreds of elephants we saw, or the many species of birds, insects and trees. We went on a couple of game drives and also on a walk in the conservancy that gives a different perspective. The national park is in good condition and teeming with wildlife. With fewer visitors this is a very good time to visit - we were mainly by ourselves when stopping for animals.

What a gem of a camp. It’s said to be the Best camp in Amboseli and it deserves the praise.
Outstanding Service.
Perfect location in a conservancy close to the park with a lot of wildlife
Great food, accommodated our gluten free lactose free intolerances to perfection.
Beautiful and comfortable Rooms facing Kilimanjaro.
I couldn’t recommend this camp enough.
We were a group of 8 with kids aged between 2 and 14, with extensive safari experience having lived in kenya and other african countries for up to 40+ yrs and having probably done over 50 safaris in Africa.
this camp is outstanding, and can easily compete in the best camp category for Kenya.
