First, getting there requires transferring to a local train at one point and getting off at the _Iharanosato Station_ regardless of any other instructions. North end of the station ("back of the train" heading to the airport) you'll pass underneath the tracks walk a bit to the intersection. Across the street there's a good local restaurant and crowd (you're in a small waterfront town of a major port city). Turn to the right, away from those rock n' rollers with their crazy hair and torn clothes (I had to drag bearings away, she so much loves those types). Walk down the sidewalk to the hotel "lodge" about .25 mile. It's no problem at night, and probably better because the woman who greeted us, if she's alive when you get there, will be just as beautiful as she was when we met her. Silver hair streaked at nine angles and one ear risen listening alertly for the words of our language she hoped to understand. We guessed immediately we need to speak slow and carefully. The halls were threadbare and worn, faded and dusted. The bedroom, for it was not a hotel room in an accustomed sense, was more so. Did we feel safe? We took more precautions against the unknown than the realistic. For example, in an ordinary state we would leave something in a room safe, or feel no problem leaving out a book or a comb. I encouraged bearings to store everything in our luggage and pack our day pack to walk down the hall to brush our teeth and down the street to eat with the J-poppers. Skates: it'll take all the ghosts from room 305 to lift our luggage, baby. Bearings: you're my boots, baby!

We arrived late at night and were greeted by the friendly lady who runs the lodge with another elderly gentleman. The room was very small for 3 with one set of bunk beds and a roll up mattress over a desk. There were no changeable sheets we could see and my friends bed sheet was visibly dirty. 2 of us woke up with insect bite marks on our back but there were no mosquitoes in there so not sure what bit us. The room was incredibly stuffy and hot but the cooler didn't work and we couldn't open the window. Overall if you're looking for a very cheap option for 1 night near Osaka airport it could be considered but for anything else should be avoided

I booked the twin room with my husband and the room is totally okay. The room is small (well, it is cheap), but at least I still have a place to pray so it is not a problem. The linen and blanket look old, but clean. They have western style toilet and the bathroom on the 4th floor is clean. The owner is friendly, a typical of Japanese grandpa. To go to Kansai Airport you need to walk for 10 minutes to Ihara Station and take 13 minutes train ride. I recommend this lodge for low budget traveler who need cheap accommodation before going to airport on early morning.

After realising that the room we had booked the night before departing Osaka was at Osaka and not Kansai (oh no!), we ended up booking the cheapest accommodation we could find near to the Kansai airport - was this place. Saw that it was rated between 1.5 and 2 stars, depending on the site, so had a fair idea of what to expect. Suffice to say that the triple non-smoking room that we had secured was top and bottom single bunks with the third bed on a sort of desk area. Mostly clean and with some electric blankets was really the only redeeming feature along with proximity to the train station. Bathroom was shared. No hot water to bathroom and has an industrial sink arrangement. Not great. Managed to dodge the kimono conversation bullet thanks to a post on Trip Advisor. Would recommend if you find yourself in a similar situation; otherwise, give it a miss.

Lodge Tyojirou was booked for us by a relative in Japan because he only looked at the cost online of an overnight stay per person (¥2,600 / a little over USD 22.00 per person per night OR ¥7,800 / approx. USD 67.00 per night for 3 persons in one room), and it was near where he lived. We arrived at half 9 in the evening. Immediately, the owner of the house spoke to us about wanting to take a picture of us sometime during our stay wearing kimonos from his collection. He had poster-sized photos of past clients on the walls. His talk lasted for 40 minutes. This was when our luggages were crammed in the lobby! We were initially appointed in a very tiny room that has a bunk, and a makeshift platform for a 3rd bed. It had a study desk crammed in the middle of the room. It was so tight, it smelled old, and the platform did not look at all comfortable. We asked to be transferred to other rooms, as the room was unacceptable considering what we were paying for! We were transferred, but had to add ¥1,800 per night! We tried to cancel the succeeding days, but the owner said that he has already charged our card! All rooms are on the 2nd and 3rd floors. Each room had an electrical meter outside its doors. Furniture pieces are VERY old...and very dormitory type. Each room had a full wall of empty shelves and closets, a Japanese doll/figure in a glass case, a tv with a coin bank (so you put in a coin if you want to use it), and electric blankets (we stayed during winter). You will bathe in a shared shower room. Bidet function in toilets do not work. Wi-Fi works only downstairs, if you sit beside the old-style modem...and only for 30mins. at a time, max. 8 connections per day. The entire ryokan smelled of kerosene. You have to pay for VERY thin and smelly towels, if you did not bring one with you. You cannot borrow a glass/mug nor ask for water should you need a drink! Bringing of food is also not allowed! The experience felt like a B-movie!!! Like "The Shining" or "Hostel"...or some weird movie like that. A great place to recommend to / book your least favourite people! NEVER EVER EVER AGAIN!!! We should have just paid the shortfall of ¥2,200 for a proper business hotel.

As for not being the cheapest place to stay, I would say this place most certainly is not worth the money. The staff was very kind, but our room had not been cleaner properly since the last people left, as their hairs were still all over the beds. The toilets were very dirty and smelled horribly, and even the slippers we were given had mold inside them. The location is very poor, as the only way to get to the nearest station is by the local train, which takes forever. One option is to go to Izumisano station, which luckily is only 20 min. walk away, and take the faster trains. The wifi only worked in the lobby, and not at all in the rooms. I would not stay here again, and not recommend it to anyone either, unfortunately. I really wanted to like the place and show all previous reviews wrong, but it was not possible.

I'm writing this review while spending a white night in kansai airport thanks to this awful place. Me and my husband wanted to pass the night close to the airport before returning home from a wonderful trip in Japan. We got to the place around 9PM but it wasnt the graveyard darkness nor stillness that got us. What made us wake the owner at 1AM and flee was a crude combination of dusty beds that made our noses trickle and our throats itch, and the droves of mosquitos who sucked our blood while that unkillable slippery cockroach came every once in a while to haunt us. Mind you, the place has a curfew starting at 11PM so imagine the mental state of two innocent guests when they realize they are couped up for the night in this infested hell-hole with no hope of winking an eye. It was just too much. A 5000 yen cab to the airport never looked like a better deal!

Close to airport, arrived late and the guy was there to book us in and order a cab for the next morning! Tiny rooms but fine for an over night... heated beds! Slightly over priced for rooms but best deal when wanting to be close to airport!

Staff didn´t speak much English, but helped me as much as they can to get a cab to the airport the next day (I chose to stay in a hotel because the trains would not arrive on time to Kansai in the morning for me to check into my flight) but my biggest problem was that I spent the whole night, and I´m not exaggerating... THE WHOLE NIGHT killing mosquitoes. We have different kinds of mosquitoes in my country, but this was the most of them that I´ve seen in a tiny room, and I had lots of bites all over. The hotel is well located, and is close to restaurants and pretty close to the airport, but I would recommend the owners to call an exterminator to eliminate the mosquito plague they have, I´m sure other people who has stayed there has suffered the same as me

We quite liked this place as it is a little japanese building in the middle of nowhere (or so it seemed at night!) and the owners were very sweet and polite but spoke basically no English (don't expect much help with onwards travel - but it isn't too tricky - it's on a main train line into the city). We stayed here because we didn't think we would arrive at the airport early enough to catch the last trains/buses, and we were travelling straight to Kyoto the next day anyway. The place is easy to find from the info on the website (take a screen shot, or print the japanese version in case you want directions from any japanese, or get a taxi!) and the rooms very comfortable and clean enough. It was adequate for our needs and it was an easy stroll around the corner to the train station the next day with our bags.
