Hotel's Favourite
I have stayed here twice in the last month. The front desk staff are wonderful, super friendly and there to help. There is no free breakfast but there is free coffee in the a.m. and snacks to purchase. Rooms have full size fridges, microwaves , stoves and dishwashers..beds and pillows super comfy. Currently all rooms are being renovated and that will be good. At the current prices this place is a deal and I will stay again

This hotel and staff are beyond OUTSTANDING!
The professionalism and care of staff, their responsiveness and down right genuine friendliness, common sense and down to earth yet professional approach to all things, cleanliness of the rooms and hotel, and obvious commitment to making sure every stay is top notch just blew us away. Honestly, their customer service and attention to detail was better here than at some 5 star luxury hotels and resorts we have stayed out.
Simple, straightforward, comfortable and tasteful rooms and hotel. Any concerns, questions or issues were dealt with swiftly and to great satisfaction. We never once had the sense that they were doing the “Covid cutting corners thing” or that anything we needed was not available or lacking here like so many other hotels these days.
The room was actually CLEAN. Immaculately clean. Even those hard to reach places most hotels overlook were dusted and clean when we arrived in our room.
It’s so wonderfully obvious they genuinely care here about running a solid operation.
If you’re in need of a quiet, comfy, super convenient, top notch costumer service stay in the area…..Stay here. Ample kitchen space and setup to handle cooking your own meals. Plenty of restaurants and food stores for take away or to order delivery in a flash. Room windows open a few inches for fresh air. On-site small convenience store of sorts if you needed some essentials (or had a hankering for a late night ice cream ;) ) Super close to UB North campus and the highways. Complementary laundry and gym on sight. Covid precautions were in place and were clearly observed and enforced here. Good and reliable wi-fi. And pet friendly too!
Super on top of the details, consistently friendly and available, and yet not at all intrusive. They truly embody the motto “Buffalo - City of Good Neighbors” vibe.
I wish I could remember everyone’s name…. But Kelsey, Jackie and Connie were staff we dealt with pretty regularly and they were BEYOND amazing in every way. These guys gave a true master class in hospitality and professionalism. Bravo!!

Stayed here while in town for an appointment. Had previously stayed at a competitor property next door with a horrible stay. We were very pleased to find that the experience didn't carry over for the area. While there were a few items that could have been better (more on that below), we were happy with our stay. All of the staff that we interacted with were extremely welcoming and helpful.
A few items that could have been better that we noted was the transition from the hard floor to the carpet in the room needed some attention. The carpet could be replaced as it is worn at the transition area which is expected over time.
Otherwise the room was clean as were all areas of the hotel that we accessed. The little store area was unique and well stocked with a variety of options and seemed to have far better pricing that what one would expect at a hotel.
If back in the Buffalo Amherst area, we would stay here again as it is far better than some others near by!

The staff were terrific. They couldn’t do enough for us. The hotel, on the other hand, was a disaster and should have been refreshed five or more years ago. The rug was tattered and filthy. We’d be embarrassed to have anything like it in our home. You absolutely didn’t want to walk barefoot on it and our socks became filthy very quickly. Lights flickered, the toilet seat broke, there weren’t enough towel racks, the dishwasher was hard to close and then did a terrible job even after we bought spot remover for it. The walls and ceiling are thin and the people above us were noisy. The couch was dirty. Half the equipment in the exercise room didn’t work. This place needs to be gutted, every rug replaced (rooms and halls), every surface repainted and every appliance replaced. As it stands I would not recommend this establishment to anyone.

Responded 04 Aug 2021
Hi MongoTom, Thank you for choosing to stay with us and for posting a candid review. I was very concerned to read your comments regarding the carpet condition, lighting, toilet condition, housekeeping service, noise, and the furniture. I understand your dismay and I am sorry. This is not the relaxed and casual lifestyle experience that we wanted for all our guests. I will make sure to share your comments with our team for the necessary improvements needed on our end. I appreciate you as our guest and I still hope you would give us another chance in the future. Orlando A. Case Manager IHGService

No breakfast, no amenities, justa room. Other hotels at that price range offer a free breakfast and similarly sized room. Our room was definitely not a suite. No housekeeping for 3 nights also. Very disappointed, have the standards fallen so low that this hotel has 4.5 stars?
Hotels are getting away with less and less.

Response from IHG Service, Owner at Candlewood Suites Buffalo Amherst, an IHG hotel
Responded 11 Sept 2021
Hello ranger22SG, Providing the best hotel experience begins with excellent service. It has always been our pleasure to assist our guests in whatever way we can. Thank you for choosing to stay with us and for sharing your thoughts regarding your recent stay at our hotel. As a brand standard, our Candlewood Suites do not offer free breakfast. We do have our Candlewood Cupboard, where you can purchase items to cook in your kitchen. Daily housekeeping is not done but guests can always request service in advance. This is also a trademark as an extended stay hotel. I am sorry if you were not made aware of this. I am sharing your feedback with our hotel so we can find ways to have the information available for our guests. We hope you will join us again in the future and impart a better stay. Safe travels, Deborah R. Case Manager IHGService

We stayed here for 8 days, early June 2022, the beds were comfortable, the room was clean, that's about it. No maid service unless you stay 10 days. Nowhere to hang towels in the room (no hooks, towel rack etc.) If you want more towels, they give you a trash bag, and you have to go get your towels, put them in the trash bag, and bring them to the desk to get more. They are under construction so they were moving furniture etc. in the room above all night and morning. There was mud in the hall most of the week as well. There are no perks to this place. You get a room, make your own bed, and take your own trash out. They don't tell you this online, when your make your reservation, or at check in. If you are looking for a full service hotel, this is not for you.

This hotel was not only clean but pet friendly to the max. The area for our dog to do his duty was groomed and spotless. The staff was knowledgeable and generous taking the time to acquaint us with their city, restaurants, scenic walking areas to take our pooch. Upon Checkin Lisa was the best greeter I’ve had and I travel a lot. Room was well appointed clean and roomy. No stinky dog smell here! Thanks for a great visit…we’ll be back for sure!

We had a very pleasant stay here. The staff are very welcoming and professional. The rooms are spacious and clean. We were able to bring in breakfast item and utilize the kitchenette. The hotel is next to UB north campus and located off the highway which is something to keep in mind for graduation. I would highly recommend staying at this hotel. Also it is pet friendly but they do a fantastic job of cleaning as there was no pet odor anywhere in the hotel

I just finished a three-night stay at the Amherst/Buffalo Candlewood Suites. While the room decor is nothing fancy, my suite was extremely comfortable and extremely clean, with a kitchenette, recliner, good mattress and great pillows. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. Excellent soundproofing between rooms. As if all of this wasn’t nice enough, THEY WELCOME DOGS. My dog and I had a restful time. Would definitely return.

Let me start by saying I got a call from the hotel several days in advance wanting to upgrade my room to a suite due to them being booked and needing double bed rooms. I was happy to upgrade. Upon arriving to our hotel we see a Red Roof Inn next door with a lot of people outdoors, trash everywhere, clothing draped over bushes, and furniture all over the parking lot and yards. There was military presence on the premises and government officials over watching from next to our car. This instantly left us uneasy. You should MOST DEFINITELY let your guests know you have a refugee camp next door. Upon entering our room, 219, there were dishes in the sink, dirty coffee cups in the microwave, and a toilet that looks as if it wasn’t cleaned in weeks. There are permanent stains in there. The toilet runs all night long. The camp next door had loud music most of the night which kept us up. My husband went to check on the car later in the evening and several people approached him for money. This place is not to be recommended due to safety and cleanliness. The gentleman at the desk in the evening was very kind but couldn’t fix the other issues.
