A group of 13 of us stayed here for a night and used their guides to trek Batoka Gorge. The owner personally picked us up from Livingstone and was very accommodating when we arrived at the lodge. We were camping as 3 adults and 10 teenagers. He invited us down to the lodge for a drink where the views from...

This was the first stop of our tour through Livingstone, and what a surprise. The owner - Faan - greeted us on arrival. He also explained the meaning and how scarce the taita falcon really is. Thirty six breeding pairs left. The view from the deck into the ravine below is stunning. Rooms are quite far apart so nice and...

The location of the lodge is amazing. It is on the top of the hill which have the view straight to the river. The atmosphere is very quiet and calm. The room is clean and tidy. The food is fantastic. The staff is friendly and nice. Fann, Annmarie, Rechelle, John, David and other staff did a great job to ensure...

The lodge is situated on the top of the Zambezi river gorge just down river from the Vic Falls and about a 30 minute drive from downtown Livingstone. An awesome and fantastic site! It is run by a South African husband and wife team who are extremely hospitable and friendly. The manager will do anything and everything to make your...

Wish we could have stayed longer. Stunning views of the Gorge, Zambezi river and white water rafters. Excellent food. Hosts Faan and his wife Anmarie Fourie, Rochelle and John were charming and catered to every need even going so far as to find out results of the Argentina soccer match and give us the recipe for "crumpets" which were the...

Forget Victoria Falls themselves, the place of this lodge is surreal and absolutely breathtaking! Looking down into the deep gorge of Zambezi River from the terrace by the dining area, is the best view you could ever get. We had an amazing time at Taita Falcon Lodge and every last detail was harmonious: from the gorgeous view and delicious meals,...

I cannot praise Taita high enough. You feel at home the moment you arrive and Annmarie, Faan and Mervis do everything they can to make your stay a true pleasure. Incredible service and the most friendly and well trained staff. I was there for three nights with a group of eight and everybody loved the place, despite the chilly nights....

I spent four nights at Taita resting up between work assignments. It was off season and, in addition to wonderful hospitality, I had a chance to learn the unique story behind Taita from the owner and staff. The setting is unique, the accommodation supremely comfortable, the staff in every way solicitous and helpful. It's away from the noise and bustle...

The deck of Taita Falcon Lodge offers an incredible view of the gorge and river....it's so great that we really were ambivalent about leaving the lodge to go into Livingstone/activities. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Taita Falcon Lodge is only 11 km from the Victoria Falls and is stunningly perched 200m above the Zambezi on the edge of the Batoka Gorge and is a luxurious bush experience at the Victoria Falls. Owner managed, the lodge's focus is on providing personalized service to each individual client. With only 7 chalets, the lodge offers an intimate stay or an exclusive venue to smaller groups. Each spacious chalet is en-suite with its own private garden and outdoor shower. The chalets are constructed of reed and stone with 3/4 walls bringing the outside in. All creature comforts are catered for in their elegantly down to earth design. Chalets are individually prepared as double, twin, triple or family rooms. The indigenous gardens are blended with "bush zen" sand gardens at the lodge entrance and chalet exteriors, and a "green theme" around the swimming pool. There is a boma where evening winter meals are hosted around an open fire. The large viewing deck and adjacent lounge play host to meals and pre-dinner drinks in conjunction to providing expansive views downstream and miles beyond! Our meals are hearty "Afrikaans style" cooking with healthy options prepared in conjunction. We offer full board packages as well as fully inclusive tour packages incorporating visits to the Victoria Falls, cultural village tours, guided bush and bird walks, game drives and a sunset cruise. Any of the numerous activities in the region can easily be arranged by the Lodge. A paradise for birders, Taita also offers guided hiking trails in and around the Batoka Gorge. An ideal beginning or ending to your African Safari - spend a few days taking in the natural wonder of the Victoria Falls and the many adventure activities that the region has to offer!! ... more   less
