My husband and I were lucky enough to travel here in March/April during our safari adventure across Africa.

The property consists of treehouses alongside a main lodge and swimming pool which all overlook the incredible Zambezi River. The stay was all inclusive and the staff cater to all of your dining needs making you feel like a part of the family.

There are plenty of activities, we walked with wild rhinos, went on game drives, visited the breathtaking Victoria Falls and also had sundowners on a private island on the river. There were still more activities that we did not manage to get round to.

The treehouses felt nothing but luxurious, all having balconies overlooking the river and beautiful bathrooms with stand alone baths. The staff even left us surprises in our room including a bath with champagne and petals awaiting us after an acitivity day.

As we entered through Zambia, you must ensure that you take Malaria tablets each day you are there and will be required to prove you are taking them if necessary. We also had to pay for entry via the visa office but this was done very quickly and did not cost too much.

I would recommend this location over and over. From the quality of the food, to the beautiful rooms and not forgetting the incredible staff and activities offered. Definitely planning on returning again.

From the start, the Sanctuary at Sussi and Chuma excelled. Edward, one of the guides collected us from the airport after a well organised transit through the arrivals. We were greeted by the management with drinks and snacks on arrival. They then guided us through the check-in procedure as well as the property. We quickly found out that our stay was going to be totally personalised to our needs and the lodge was there for us. The food throughout out stay was excellent and served wherever we wanted. We never ate dinner in the same place twice. The luxurious lodge we stayed in was immaculate and kept so by they very attentive and efficient housekeeping staff (Memory). The game drives and river experiences were led by Edward who was calm, personable and extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of African flora, fauna and even the stars above. The management spoke to us several times a day to ask what we needed or would like to do during out stay. All of the staff were courteous, happy to help and extremely polite. Despite the location in the Zambian bush, we never felt insecure as there is 24/7 in house security who escort you around the property at night (due to the wildflife) and there is a guide on call 24/7 if you have questions, a change of plan or one of the local animals wanders into the lodge area. I cannot recommend the Sanctuary enough, all I can say is that we will return for another stay at some point in the near future. A note about ‘value’. This is a luxury resort and therefore not ‘cheap’ but what you get in return makes it worth while and good value.

I enjoyed a 2 week safari through 4 camps in Zambia and Botswana. Sussi & Chuma was the best and exceeded all my expectations. The location near Victoria Falls is super, each treehouse overlooks Zambesi River and from your deck you watch river and bushlife, wake up to the birds sounds and hippos roaring. The treehouse is fully equipped with all amenities and the mosquito net works!

There are a multitude of activities, walk around Vic Falls, game drives and walks incl rhino family. My favorite were the boat and canoe trips on the Zambesi where wildlife can be watched from the boat.

The most memorable aspect that made my stay truly special were the people. Bryan and his wonderful team went out of their way to make ne feel truly special. Tables at mealtimes were prepared in different location, on the veranda, on an island and on a boat, food fresh, high quality and beautifully presented, always including a little surprise factor. I felt like part of the family and also took the opportunity to visit a local village where various projects were sponsored by Sanctuary and A&K such as the maternity ward of the hospital.

It‘s been lovely and I was sad to leave. Covid test and transport to Botswana well organised. I can really highly recommend this luxury camp as part of an authentic and also considerate African experience.

Timing is everything and probably because of COVID we were the only people staying here.
We were treated better than royalty.
Our collection from the airport was seamless.
We were greeted by Gerard and Michele on arrival. A comprehensive tour of the establishment.
Mary, our housekeeper, showed us around our sumptuous room with splendid views of the Zambezi.
The next morning after an excellent breakfast, our guide Junior took us to Victoria Falls. A memorable experience.
On return, Junior told us to meet him by the pool at 1230 as he had a surprise.
Sure in the boat onto the Zambezi. We rounded a point of an island and there was a table set up for lunch (including tablecloth). It took our breath away. It was called Fantasy Island, though I am not sure whether that was Junior’s sense of humor.
In the afternoon we went to see the white rhinos. Sadly there are only a dozen white rhinos in Zambia. We were so lucky to see a couple with their 3 week old baby!
Our final night was spent dining on the decking by the river with the bull frogs calling and the odd load guffaw from our neighbour Hippo.

Thank you Gerard, Michele and your happy great time for sharing Sussi & Chumba and giving us masses of fabulous memories

Having never been on safari and our first time in Africa, we had no idea what to expect when arriving at Sussi & Chuma. Our "room" was actually a spacious, free standing structure with an expansive deck overlooking the water. At night, we could hear the sounds of the hippos as we lay in the very comfortable bed. On the way to the restaurant and reception area you were next to monkeys walking along and climbing in the trees. The first night we went on a sundown river cruise with our guide, Eddie. As the sun set, we pulled off to shore where there was a "happy hour" set up with chairs, a full wait staff, cool beverages and hors d'oeuvers for the guests. The next day with Eddie we visited the Zambia side of Victoria Falls, an amazing sight. In the afternoon, we saw the Rhinos and then went on a game drive. This was the only place we visited on 10 days of safari where we were able to see the Rhinos. The food, the service, the staff, everything about this camp was top notch. The only thing I have to say is we were told since it was winter it would be cold in the mornings and it was! But our room had heat and heated blanket but bring warm clothes for the game drive.

My stay here had a profound affect on me. The amazing setting in the midst of the National Park right on the banks of the amazing Zambezi River was just the start.
After the lovely welcome I was taken along the wooden walkway to my tree house which was beautifully appointed and with a view to die for (hippo and crocodiles incuded). I even got used to seeing bush buck, elephants and worthogs on my way to lunch sometimes
I was there for some peace and quiet but also wanted to experience the adventures the location provides. Of course there was the Victoria Falls, from both sides, even a swim to Devils pool to be right at the edge. With game drives, walking safaris and river cruises I saw and learnt so much about the flora and fauna of the Park under the guidance of my extremely knowledgeable guide.
After all my activities I was always welcomed back to the tranquility of the lodge by the wonderful staff team, lead by Kate and Hugo. As a foodie I found the meals amazing, the hardest thing for me was deciding what to choose.
Having thought this would be a once off trip I find myself already trying to plan how I can get back there again.

My friend and I had a delightful stay at Suissi & Chuma. We were greeted by the manager and a welcome drink with a tour of the beautiful property situated right along the Zambezi River. The tree house was well equipped and very comfortable, with a lovely view of the River. We loved having the weights, bands, and yoga mat, too. The food was excellent and we especially enjoyed lunch out in the bush as well as the sundowners boat ride with drinks and apps. The sunset was one of the most spectacular we have ever seen. Monkeys are all around the property, as well as deer, elephants, and crocodiles (near the river's edge) but you are well protected and perfectly safe. The highlight of our stay here was seeing seven white rhinos at a watering hole. Would highly recommend.

The staff at Sussi & Chuma made us feel at home and we loved our treehouse, which had every comfort one could wish for. Our guide Elijah really made our experience incredible. We recommend visiting the village if you get the chance to see how the lodge is making a positive impact locally. Dining at the lodge was a savory experience and they had some lovely wines to accompany the meals. It was a special experience we will not forget.

Wonderful! Absolutely wonderful. Thoroughly recommend

We stayed 3 nights at Sanctuary Sussi & Chuma and from the moment we landed in Zambia to being dropped back off at the airport we were looked after by the fantastic staff. Our lodge was lovely, very comfortable and the outdoor deck overlooked the Zambezi. Our guide (Shadrick) was very knowledgeable and polite, and he explained the local flora and forna during the cruises (sunset and sunrise), game drive and walking safari. We also took tour of the Zambia side of the Victoria Falls and local village, and added a helicopter ride over the Falls and through the gorge, which we highly recommend. All the trips were very interesting and enjoyable and we felt safe throughout.

On our last day we relaxed by the pool and enjoyed being pampered at the fantastic spa. The food, drink and service were all first class. A big thank you to the team (led by Hugo and Kate) who made our stay so special !

We spent a weekend at Sussi and Chuma, a short flight from Johannesburg, to have the lodge meet and greet service waiting at Livingstone Airport, with our guide for the duration of our stay. It's hard to fault anything, it was just the best experience all round from the unusual accommodation right on the Zambezi River, to the sunset cruise, the game drives and of course our own private tour to the Falls (take as long as you like). Our guide Eddie was such a delight and so well informed not only on wildlife but on Zambia in general. Meals under the stars/al fresco dining were a treat. The lodge staff were friendly, caring and very accommodating to any special requests. We could easily have stayed on another couple of nights. Thank you all.

3 days should be enough but 4 could be even better. It really depends what you want to do while you are there. remember that arriving and leaving are not considered full days and will restrict the activities you can do on those days. You will need to get on the river, get to the falls, maybe do a bungy jump, take a dip in the devils pool or just take it easy at the camp site with a massage and a couple of cocktails. ENJOY

Such a wonderful place. We only saw hippos, curious birds and monkeys around the hotel, we didn't meet any elephants whilst there. As said, they take you from and to your room at night, just a precaution, in the daytime is no worries! The rooms are built on stilts!

We did the same as above, visited the Zimbabwe side of the falls on the way to Chobe Chilwero. It really is a must do as the falls on that side are far more impressive than on the Zambia side. We didn't take a helicopter, but instead had a lovely lunch at the Victoria Falls Hotel.
