We arrived in the dark, not knowing where The Royal Livingstone had despatched us to, having lost our booking which had been fully confirmed to us. Thank goodness for the River Club and the excellent personal service afforded by its staff. The next morning the beauty of its location was revealed as we watched the Zambezi flow past our lodge...

This has to be one of my favourite spots that I've ever stayed at! Such a stunning location on the side of the Zambezi. I'm not sure you could see a better sunset. I only booked the River Club at the last minute and Charmaine couldn't have been more helpful, organising all my trips for me. The highlight was definitely...

Our travel agent booked us at the River Club for a two night stay after 10 days on safari in Botswana. The site, overlooking the Zambezi River, is breathtaking. We found the rooms to be spacious, tasteful and comfortable, each with its own private pool. The staff was first rate and courteous, and the host was helpful and quite interesting....

The lodge we stayed in was situated on the bank of the Zambezi was beautifully appointed, comfortable and uniquely different. The club house was furnished to just make you smile at some ones ability to...

We were with a tour, Alexander and Roberts, and this was our first stop. Our lodge had a rustic feel, but it was comfortable, clean, 2 bathrooms, beautiful view, deck, 2 levels, with 2nd bath on lower level. The staff arranged a last minute request helicopter tour over Victoria Falls for our group (that was an extra cost----but worth every...

Greetings, Peter, My husband and I were recently in Zambia visiting the Falls. Due to a wedding at the Royal Livingstone, we had to stay a night at The River Club. We were somewhat disappointed at the time of booking, as the Livingstone has such a powerful cache. It was indeed a lovely hotel, but it was a world apart...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The River Club is the only boutique hotel in the area and run by its owner. This former residence is a tranquil oasis on Zambia's mighty Zambezi River and is the perfect location for a visit to the renowned Victoria Falls - a World Heritage Site and one of 2 places in the world to have remained on the list the 7 Natural Wonders of the World (the other being the Grand Canyon). Located a mere 26kms/16 miles upstream from the Falls and 18kms/ 11miles from the historical town of Livingstone, The River Club forms a perfect end to a safari circuit in Southern or East Africa. The 11 private and spacious suites are individually set within magnificent trees on the edge of the Zambezi River, overlooking pods of hippo into the Zambezi National Park. A host of activities await young and old, on property as well as around the Victoria Falls. The lodge is set on a 50 acre secure property with manicured gardens, where one can completely relax away from all the noise of helicopters over hotels closer to the Falls. A magnificent rim flow swimming pool, pool loungers, private deck and hammocks complete the setting. An all-weather hard tennis court, a central croquet lawn and a 2km nature trail that can also be used as a running track for those who need to keep fitness levels topped up. Daily sunset cruises on the Zambezi River are offered at sunset. Activities in the area include a visit to the mighty Victoria Falls, game drives in the nearby Mosi-Oa-Tunga National Park, white water rafting, helicopter flights over the Falls, canoeing safaris, historical tours including places of Jewish interest and more. Dining under the stars is a highlight and a kosher kitchen ensures we are able to cater for those who require it. ... more   less
