What an amazing weekend getaway . Covid 19 has taken a toll on so many and brought the world to a sudden stand still. Everything seemingly unsafe. As we slowing open up and get used to our new normal , we knew for a fact that after months of being camped in the hse, we needed some adventure! to create a new memory once. The out doors gives such satisfying feel and Sindabezi Island was top on the list . So my friend and I made the decision to step out of quarantine into nature .Our first night was exclusive as we had the entire camp to ourselves! Wow , what a new adventure . Our capt Felix was a master at his trade, we had a mini game view during our ride to the Island in the boat. We managed to spot my favourite bird the Malachite King fisher what a moment!!
Our welcome was superb, adhering to the covid 19 regulations set by ministry of health . We signed in our indemnities and where shown our chalet . Chalet #2 Amazing!!!.. open space , fresh air , the Zambezi river for your backdrop! The room was beautiful, prepared for two and a lovely note of welcome us from tujatane school children .
The sun set and we were ready for dinner, a table was set at the banks of the Zambezi and we were served with succulent chicken and warm bread. The fire was made and we sat and absorbed the beauti of the stars.

The sound of the hippos ,nearby hyenas and even lions from across was one I won't forget. Sound so clear you thought the hippo was in your room!lol.. we laughed about it & managed to get a great night's sleep. The bush baby( water bottle) helped as we went during winter.
The second day was real adventure time! The outdoor shower was so interesting, the sun on your face and birds chipping away. It was magical really, then we went fishing!! Tiger fishing..
This later translated into game viewing! We found a family of elephants less than 10mtrs from the boat and the gentle giants gave us a beautiful sindabezi welcome lol ( I really wasnt afraid ) lol, also our guide was experienced and confident.
We returned to camp and went right into the pool! The sun was finally out and we relaxed on the sunbeds .
New guests arrived and Sindabezi was at full capacity! We had a lovely evening around the fire and a gorgeous set up of our dinner table by the pool side by Nyambe, our valet who honestly gave us a great experience of hospitality.
We didnt want to sleep on our last night, we said we would sleep when we got back home. Lol ..
Morning came and it was time to say goodbye, we experienced above and beyond what we imagined. Rested and ready to face reality!what a magical weekend.
The staff of Sindabezi are really top tier. You wont leave without stories and a mightly experience. I guarantee you! 🤗

This review makes us so incredibly happy because we can hear that you have truly caught the Sindabezi spirit! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a wonderful and detailed review for future potential guests to experience our secret island through your eyes and ears. How fantastic that you met so many of our wildlife neighbours. Our guides have a magical ability to figure out your favourite bird or animal and then spot one for you, so we aren't at all surprised that you saw your special malachite kingfisher. Thank you also for mentioning so many of our staff specifically. The Tongabezi Team is a family as much as anything, and this year has been tough on us all. Every guest who leaves with lifelong memories is due to the hard work of each and every member of our team, and it means a lot to them to hear that their efforts were appreciated. We really hope you can return soon and perhaps experience the magic of Tongabezi too! Team Tongabezi

Our multi generational family stayed for three nights over new year's. We had just come from two luxury lodges in Kruger so this was a change and it stretched our comfort zone. Taking the boat from Tongabezi, you realize that you really are in natural setting. Ronald, our boat captain/guide, was wonderful! He shared lots of knowledge about the animals, the river, Zambia. On the island, Lawrence and his staff make you feel like family and are very accommodating to needs of kids (we had two teenagers with us). We had a mobility issue with my mom and the staff was ALWAYS available to help her on the island.
The rooms are lovely. Outdoor showers were amazing with peaceful views. Because you are on an island in the middle of the river, the chalets are open with no walls on the front. Mosquito netting covers you at night and the beds are comfortable. The animal sounds at night are loud and close so it took two nights to feel secure about the hippos and elephants that are in the river around you - however, I am an anxious person.
The food at the island is delicious and they accommodated my picky eater with grace and delicious food! The sunset cruise we took one night with sundowners on a volcanic sandbar was one of our highlights. I also HIGHLY recommend fishing in the Zambezi - Ronald took us twice and it was an amazing experience. Sindabezi is a very special place that moved us out of our comfort zone and challenged us to be comfortable in a eco lodge, something we had never done.

How splendid that you and your family had an extraordinary time on our beautiful eco-island. We are delighted that Lawrence, Captain Ronald, and the entire team took care of you and that you enjoyed stepping out of your comfort zone into something spectacular – even if a little bit more on the wild side. Where else in the world could you have such a scenic shower? Our dear chef Henry always feels that picky eaters' taste buds are his greatest joy because he loves a challenge. He'll be very excited to hear that he proved himself once again. Thank you so much for taking the time to write this special review, as well as for trying something new and spectacular with us. We hope to see you all again very soon, Team Tongabezi

We stayed for 2 nights at Sindabezi in the beginning of December. The private island is just amazing! Couldn't describe how beautiful it is.

The room / tent is so romantic! The bathroom is open, so you feel close with nature. The bed is really cosy and you can sit in the front overlooking the river, or just chill in a hammock!

The two mornings waking up there were surreal. Because the room / tent is half open you wake up by the beautiful morning light with a sunrise. You hear birds chirping, the best sound for waking up. The staff brings you tea or coffee with homemade cookies at requested time! So you can slowly wake up with a cup of tea or coffee in your hand just sitting in front of the river. The two mornings we had a hippo right in front of us! Felt like a dream.

What we definitely loved was the special attention the staff of Tongabezi / Sindabezi gave us. They were so friendly and did everything to make us feel that this was a special vacation. For breakfast, lunch and dinner they changed the sitting spott so we saw every lovely place at Sindabezi and Tongabezi. That's something I didn't expect so everytime we went to eat something it felt like a little surprise were they would have seated us!

And the food is so good! We looked forward to every meal!

When you go to Tongabezi or Sindabezi just expect to have a romantic, wonderful stay with great food, service and staff. Also you can do a lot of activities! Like going to the Victoria falls, Devils pool, take a sunset trip on a boat or go to the sand bar where you can have drinks looking at a wonderful sunset with hippos in the background.

Dear Gerben and Esther, Thank you kindly for sharing such an in-depth review of your experience on our romantic island! We are so glad that you enjoyed the tranquil setting and our comfortable rooms. There is nothing better than waking up to the chorus of birds, the laughter of hippos, and even better – the gentle sound of your valet waking you up with a much needed coffee and a homemade cookie. Our team at Sindabezi is often praised for their warmth and hospitality and many tears have been shed upon saying goodbye! We appreciate your recommendation on both our magical properties and hope to see you return one day. Team Tongabezi

This romantic island on the Zambezi river is beautifully exclusive. While we were there, there was only one other couple. So basically, we had the island to ourselves. There's a nice variety of spots where you can have your breakfast/lunch/dinner. While having lunch, the bath was prepared for me with a great amount of effort SO MUCH FOAM! Loved it! And as it was my birthday, I was surprised with a cake and my very own birthday song by the staff. It was so sweet and a lovely surprise. The island is a perfect, romantic get-away.
Oh and don't forgot we saw some elephants from the room on the Zim side, and we heard hyena's and lions during the night. It was amazing.

This review is long overdue, but better late than never I guess. We were two families that had the camp to ourselves in March. And let me just reiterate what other people here have already said: the island stay was incredible! The discreet luxury of the chalets, the sumptuous meals, the amazing ground staff, and the relaxed vibe throughout. It was my wife's birthday too and we really appreciated the arrangements organized for her big day.

But I want to take the opportunity to bring up a couple of issues. First, when we arrived at Tongabezi for the boat transfer we were asked if we'd like to swap the last night at Sindabexi for staying at Tongabezi instead. We said we'd like to do that. However this offer was later retracted. Secondly, on Green Safaris' website a number of complimentary activities are listed. But it turns out that some, like the game drive in Mosi-oa-Tunya NP as well as the transfer to the Falls, came with an extra cost. So please don't make promises that you can't live up to! This seems to be a managerial problem though - no shadow shall fall upon the staff on the ground!

We thank you for taking the time to write us this review and that overall you had a wonderful stay on the magical island with our fabulous staff! Whilst our website does show all of our inclusive activities, we are delighted to offer a radically reduced rate to resident Zambians to enable them to explore their home country and experience the wild spaces where our properties are based. These rates are so reduced that it becomes impossible for us to include all of the same activities and extras, though they are available as an extra for local guests to add to their experience if they wish. Upon confirming your stay with us, our Reservations team would have sent you two pages of information about your stay which would have highlighted all inclusions and exclusions. We are aware, however, that the cost of the room upgrade may not have been emphasized enough and we sincerely apologize for this. We have done some training with our team to avoid future miscommunications. Everything we do at Sindabezi and Tongabezi is designed to empower our teams, communities, environment, and wildlife, and we are so happy to hear that our team on the ground really made your stay spectacular. The island and team would be delighted to have you for another visit! Team Tongabezi

I was fortunate to be able to celebrate my birthday on Sindabezi.
From the moment Captain Ronald met us at Tongabezi Lodge (of which Sindabezi is a part), to the boat rides, the well-appointed honeymoon suite, the delicious local food, the storytelling, the sundowners, the birthday surprises, the birdlife, the serenity, the island staff ... all of it was the biggest spoil EVER!
These Covid times are not easy for Livingstone's lodges and their staff. Yet, everyone went above and beyond. A special thank you to Killian, Nyambe, Run, Evans, Vickus ... and of course, Captain Ronald, for helping me see in another year in such comfort and style.

There is no better review than one which mentions so many of our brilliant team by name! They are the heart and soul of Tongabezi and it means so much to us to have them appreciated, especially during these hard times. We are so happy to hear that your birthday celebrations were everything that you could hope. Captain Ronald is not only a guide, stargazer, and skilled boat driver, he is also a comedian and his favourite thing to do is to host. We're sure he is looking forward to spoiling you all over again for your next birthday! All the best, Team Tongabezi

You know you are at a secluded spot to yourself when you need to take a 5 minute boat ride to get to your lodge😀 We loved every minute of our stay here. The cabins are beautifully outfitted with a private bedroom and an outdoor shower/bath. Our cabin overlooked (as they all do) the river.....but we were lucky enough to be on the south side of the island to look right across to Zimbabwe.

There are plenty of hippos to be seen every day ..along with the occasional croc. A short trip to Victoria falls is just a few minutes away as is a safari trek to Mosi oa-tunya park. There you will see a phenomenal park with baboons, rhino, monkeys, and the occasional giraffe.

The service and food here are second to none in the African continent. Thanks so all for making our stay so wonderful and unforgettable. We miss you all

Having stayed at Tongabezi prior to visiting Sindabezi, we were informed that Sindabezi would be even more beautiful. To be frank, I didn’t really know how that would be possible since Tongabezi was already quite the experience. However, when we arrived at Sindabezi after a short boat ride along the Zambezi river (and spotting a huge croc), I think I understood. Sindabezi is a small island that can host a small number of guests, allowing for a very intimate experience with your loved ones. Like at Tongabezi, the food is exquisite and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. They take utmost care of your needs and what I particularly liked was that we always had dinner at a different spot on the island, my favourite being the tree hut.

What is different about Sindabezi though, is the accommodation. Showering outside in nature, sleeping in open tents, and falling asleep with the sounds of the birds and hippos was such a unique experience. I also have to say I absolutely loved the outside bath. Although having a bath by itself may not be that exciting, it was a rather unforgettable experience being able to do this while looking out on hippos and elephants, taking in the last rays of sunshine before the sun would completely set, and enjoying a glass of chilled white wine.

Another thing that I hadn’t quite expected before coming to Sindabezi, was that we were able to see the most beautiful night sky from the island. As there is no light pollution, you’re able to see the milky way and an incredible number of stars. One of the guides that drove our boat to the island kindly took the time to explain us about the star signs and pointed them out to us. A final highlight of our stay here was definitely seeing a huge herd of buffaloes on the other side of the river, after being notified about this by one of the thoughtful staff members.

All in all, if you have the chance, definitely make sure to visit Sindabezi to immerse in nature and a luxurious once-in-a-lifetime experience at this romantic island.

Thank you for your beautifully written review. You have described your experience at Sindabezi so well – it is a little piece of heaven surrounded by such tranquillity and beauty with a little bit more wildlife action! Having open rooms, and outdoor showers is a unique treat accompanied by various calls of nature a true experience. Never forget to look up at the sky in the evenings or have Captain Ronald navigate the constellations with his laser pointer (this is one of his favourite things to do). Nothing makes us happier to see that you enjoyed your stay on our eco island! We hope to have you back very soon, Team Sindabezi and Tongabezi

Two wonderful and tranquil nights to celebrate the birthday of a friend.... with service which was attentive, friendly and informative. Our chalet was very well appointed, with all our comforts and requirements well met. We enjoyed delicious meals, and the team on the island ensured we had all we needed for a birthday celebration. A perfect river island escape - looking out over the water and landscape, enjoying the deep shade and our feet in the soft white sand.

I was lucky enough to spend my 40th birthday at Sindabezi last week. It is a little piece of heaven and like nothing I have experienced before. We loved the serenity and the beautiful environment. We were treated to amazing food and a level of hospitality that was unmatched. The chalet was perfection and complete luxury. The openness of the chalet reminds you that you are in nature in its most pure and untouched form. The sunrise and sunset cruises are a treat! A special thanks to Captain Ronald(his knowledge of the river and the wildlife in the area is beyond impressive), Nyambe, our amazing and most gracious butler, Chef Pearson, Lwembe and Memory for making the trip extra special. No detail is left to chance! I was treated to an amazing birthday dinner on the floating pontoon on the Zambezi River on the evening before we left. The beauty of this place took my breath away and I hope to be back for a visit again soon. Thank you Sindabezi for the memories!
