Ephesian Hotel and Guesthouse is definitely a nice place. It is owned and managed by a sympathetic multi-cultural family. The whole Guesthouse seemed clean and friendly, with another nice staff member we saw working there. Breakfast was pretty good too and everything was for a very competitive price, so overall all fine. The reason why we give it a 4/5 is because of a claim on the side of one of the Guesthouse owners that we got upgraded to a bigger room (for the 4 of us staying in one room). Well, even if it truly was an upgrade, we wouldn’t claim it to be one. The room was still very tight for the 4 of us, even though 2 of us barely had luggage. We believe this statement of upgrading was unnecessary and was just an empty statement, unfortunately. Regardless, we believe 4/5 is still very good and fair overall!

The Guest House is located near the port hence location is very walk able for all major points in the city. Friendly environment by the family as a nice welcome. The room itself was nice and spacious, plus air conditioning which is always nice. However the bathroom needs to be upgraded as I was a bit uncomfortable using it due to being cramped.

Our second visit to this conveniently located guesthouse in the old town just a few minutes walk from the harbour, bar street, kaleici, shops and restaurants, a perfect base for our return visit to Kusadasi. Ceyhan, Chiemi and their little family made us most welcome and our visit was enhanced by their kindness. Bright and airy rooms with shower room, comfortable beds, small balcony and plenty of storage, small fridge, big bath towels, hair drier and excellent WiFi. Breakfast was served downstairs because of the weather, we welcomed the kettle and cups when we returned from our exploring. Thank you Ceyhan for the warm welcome and all your help, we had a great time.

Well, at €25 a night, this is a pretty basic place. I think it could be a lot more with a little work, so my suggestion would be that they up the rate to €30 a night and plow the extra money into a few basic upgrades. We had room 304 way up top and it had two walls of windows (facing the city east and south). It was really light and airy feeling. There was a small patio outside the room, room enough for two chairs if there were some. The rooftop terrace has a very nice view as well, and we hung out up there at sunset and into the evening when it was cooler, drinking wine. There is a freezer up there that we stuck the wine in a half hour ahead of time to chill it. This was our favorite place. The owner is a very nice, friendly guy, always available. They did our laundry for a reasonable 30 TL. OK. The place needs some basic work. One of the two bed lights was out, and the AC took forever to cool the room. We had to leave it running and go out to a bar for a couple hours. The furniture on the roof could be nice if there were a couple basic things like perhaps covers or pads for the chairs (some of which are starting to splinter) and tables. The view is great but it is really too hot to use during the day. There needs to be perhaps a mist system and more shade/plants, though there is a shade tarp and smaller plants there now. The room was tiny with no real storage. I just kept my stuff in my pack. It was clean however. So perhaps a couple shelves and more sturdy hooks would help a lot. An option would be to book room 302, 202, or 201 which are bigger, with closet and extra bed to put stuff on. The little refrigerator could barely cool stuff (so that is why we put things temporarily in the freezer upstairs). There were three plugs open for charging, located conveniently. The WiFi is slow but steady. There is a pump bottle of soap on the wall of the bathroom. The shower is open to the bathroom and so you have to remove the TP, towels, etc. before you shower. We asked for an extra towel so we could use it to dry things off and then as a floor mat and that helped a lot. The water was not hot, but it wasn’t cold. It was tepid which was fine for me but cold for the wife. Hairdryer available from the desk or by lifting it from an unused room. The door knob to our room was loose, with a flimsy little push button lock. Not much for security, on the other hand the owners live here, and there are not that many people staying here. We didn’t feel unsafe, and nobody took anything, however if you like to feel :secure” this would be a problem. The front door was locked shut in the early morning so I could not get out to walk for coffee. Which was a bummer because the Turkish breakfast (OK) included Nescafé instant yet again. (side comment: What is it with all these places in Turkey serving Nescafe instant coffee when Turkish Coffee is such a great thing?) It was a nightmare trying to drive here using google maps (not the owner’s fault of course) but once we dropped the car and started walking we found out the guest house is in an excellent location, close to shops and cafes, and to the port (we took the ferry on into Greece). Again, it was adequate and for €25 I am not expecting much. But the potential is here to make it a GREAT value instead of a good value, with some repairs and upgrading.

the common space is beautifully decorated and the hosts are just charming. room was basic and so was the bathroom, but most important they were clean. I liked the neighbourhood and it's a short walk to harbour and city center. good value for the price paid.
