Amazing Hotel stay after all it was a really enjoyable 2 weeks and we had a lot of fun espeically with the animation team which was excellent, volleyball twice a day which was amazing with the animator playing with us (Abdul is the best and Maria is great so is Mamadou) and the waterpolo is really good. The beds in the room are huge and perfect to sleep in. The view on the sea is really nice and you can see the pool and garden and it's perfect to take pictures/stories on.

Very good hotel. Beach is nice and clean swimming pools. If you like passive vacations it will suit you. I like to do a little bit of sports and swim on my holidays so it was perfect. Big choice in food surprised me. You can find food from different cultures. Room view is fantastic. We were lucky with that. From dark sides I would mention that too many kids in the place for kids, no enough space for them to play.

This hotel is amazing so glad we decided to stay here. Rooms are excellent. Pool area is amazing and lots of activities on during the day including dancing and aquagym. On a night there is entertainment and the entertainment is by far the best entertainment team I have seen. Highly recommend coming here.

Nice hotel for familles. There are italien and tunisian restaurants except main and bbq restaurants. There are 3 bars all over an hotel. Very confortable and usefull. Hotel decorated in a nice way. I liked rocks bext to the small swimming pool. Reminds me about jungles. Cute décorations in the restaurant during dinner as well. Hotel is clean and looks instagramable. Tall palms and the greenest grass ever wont leave you careless.

Wow this place is unreal From the bungalow room to the restaurant is exceptional Service from all staff is top drawer. Nothing is too much trouble. Food is great. Cocktails are amazing. Pool is great. Go to the natural water pool where you will meet the amazing entertainment team. Led by the full team They treats every person as family. Knew all our names by the second day and spoke to us every day. We have been to a lot of hotels. But this is by far the best for the animation team we have encountered. Quality entertainment with no pressure to take part at all. If you say no they let you enjoy your holiday Please visit this little gem to have a great holiday

Catastrophic hotel. Not even 1 star. I had to change room twice, because they didn’t give what I paid for. They are very arrogant at the reception, they are not helping at all. I had to carry the suitcases myself. When I reach the room, the keys were not working to open the room. The restaurant is noisy, it looks like a canteen, no separations. It doesn’t look like a 5 stars hotel at all. They tell you all inclusive, they have only one restaurants, no other outlets except for drinks. The glass door of the room had the lock broken. The tv is connected to wires. The swimming pools are dirty. The setting at the beach is very cheap, you have to walk a long distance to get a drink…………

We have just come back from a one week all-inclusive stay at this hotel and on the whole it has been great place to spend our family holiday. If you are looking plenty to do for teens and adults who aim to “do as little as possible” and not venture far outside the complex, then this is a great choice. ARRIVAL & WELCOME Arriving at the airport the TUI rep was easy to find and get our bus transfer sorted. Our mini bus took us straight to the Steigenberger in 40 minutes. We arrived on Friday evening at 9.20pm, thirsty and hungry greeted by a very smiley Mohamed who made sure we were rushed into the buffet restaurant to eat and get drinks before it closed at 9.30. He told us check in could wait and to eat and drink, for which we were very grateful. We had no dinar on us so were allowed to pay the tourist tax the next day. There is a cash machine in the hotel but you can only take 300 dinar out per day. STAFF & ENTERTAINMENT Immediately you notice all the staff are all very friendly, smile a lot and are very welcoming and attentive. The entertainment team are young and enthusiastic but not overbearing. There is a wide variety of sporty things for teens to do. Water polo at 3.30 was a firm favourite and aqua fit at 11. Manadu was very helpful when we were looking for a lost phone. There are evening events such as kids disco, karaoke, belly dancing, live band etc. If you are tired or feeling off colour and need to go to your room, the noise from these events is usually over by 11. POOLS & FACILITIES There are a few other British families with older kids here but it isn’t set up for families with little kids. There are no water slides or specific kids pools except one shallow paddling area. There are two pools : the first larger one near the hotel is a seawater one. This has disabled access as you can walk into this pool. The smaller second one is a chlorine pool which only has step ladder access. I found the steps very difficult to use with my limited knee mobility. The handles are short and low so it is difficult to pull yourself up and out on them. Maybe this could be looked at for the second pool? I reported a broken step on the pool ladder and it was fixed very quickly. One thing to look out for in the pools is there are lots of steps which are mostly invisible because they are all in the same tiles. We all whacked our feet on them at some point. The ‘private’ beach is a bit further past the second pool and snack bar restaurant. It is patrolled by security in the late afternoon and sellers asked to move on. Sitting on the beach people-watching in the evenings was a nice way to pass the time as there is a lot going on. Camels, ponies and horses, banana boats, jet ski, paragliding ( when it is not windy) and lots of sales people. Security do ask them to move on though so they do not hassle you. There are towels available for the loungers. You get a card from reception and pick up towels from a little cabin between the two pools. There are signs saying no towels on loungers before 8 am. However there is still ‘saving loungers’ going on early mornings because there is just not enough shade in the complex, so people are desperately trying to get loungers out of the sun. They really need to invest in more parasols because most loungers and tables are unusable until much later in the day. There is even moving of parasols while people are away from loungers. Sun sets at 7 so it gets dark earlier than we expected. THE SPA Well worth a visit. We all had facials and massages and enjoyed use of the private indoor/outdoor spa pool before and after treatments. Issa who books the treatments sits on a desk near the lobby and will advise you on treatments and if you book some together give you a discount. I had Walid twice for massages and he was very good. Wish I had gone on first day to speed up relaxation a bit more. FOOD AND DRINK Food and drinks are plentiful with lots of choice. The local beer is good. The readymade cocktails not so much. G&Ts are small but ok but beware of the ice! Food is served somewhere pretty much from 6am to 10pm. Lots of choice on the buffets with specials each night and western food (burgers & fries) alongside Italian and Tunisian food. There is plenty to choose from each day but we found most food rather under seasoned for our tastes. It is clear there is a mammoth amount of work going on by kitchen and waiting on staff to keep the food and drink rolling all day long. A very slick all-day operation. There are themed restaurant nights which you have to queue up for to book tables at 6pm in the lobby. Don’t bother. It is the same buffet food laid out in the main restaurant in a smaller quieter restaurant. The only difference is the main dish is brought to you on a plate by waiters rather than you getting it yourself like the starters and desserts. Rather upsettingly 3 out of 4 of us got the Tunisian Trots after a couple of days. Make sure you take plenty of stomach and diarrhoea medicine and first aid stuff with you. We had bad stomachs and diarrhoea and I have been very bad with it for best part of two days confined to my room. So do avoid the ice in drinks. CLEANLINESS & ROOMS The whole hotel is spotless and cleaners are very sweet. Some carpets in hallways could do with a deep clean but the marble floors are all super shiny and dust free. Rooms are refreshed every day so make sure you put the sign on if you do not want to be disturbed. The hotel has three floors and two lifts in the lobby. The sea view from our second floor is nice and the garden bungalows also looked nice. The garden and grounds are well kept so your view will be fine from whichever of these. Regarding the rooms I found the beds very firm. We asked about toppers but they didn’t appear. I got used to it, but had to take painkillers for my back for the first couple of days as I was waking up very stiff. In fact I found all the chairs and sofas in the lobby very very firm. There is not much lounging to be done in the lounges. You are forced to sit up straight on all the firm furniture. Some of the public toilets are swimming in water by the evening time due to leaking /spraying hosepipes in each cubicle so be prepared to roll up your trousers. SHOPPING There is a small shop in the hotel which has a few things. Prices seemed to be the same as outside. We ventured outside the complex once to Yasmine Hammamet. The 12 dinar taxi ride was an eye opener as normal traffic rules seem to be of no concern for our driver. Brace yourselves! Outside the complex it hits you how poor a country Tunisia is. The streets are filled with litter and buildings half built or closed down. It is very sad to see. People live off very little and things are quite desperate for many. I felt huge ‘tourist guilt’ of being there and using up all their resources. The trip outside actually did bring my mood down for a couple of days, so avoid it if you are affected by seeing huge poverty and inequality like I am. We went to Yasmine Hammamet to the Costa Mall to get some more sun cream. It really is just a two floor supermarket with all the souvenirs and holiday purchases in one place but without the aggro of haggling. Our son wanted a handbag for his girlfriend and went off on his own to look at some other fake bag shops and ended up in the middle of a fight between three different shop owners all desperate for his trade. The experience was all a bit much and based on this and other reviews, we decided not to go into the Hammamet old town Souk/Medina for further shopping experiences. While in Yasmine Hammamet we did go for a coffee in a cafe in the Marina which was pleasant but according to our daughter, not much not much to rave about. Our son ended up buying his fake bag in the hotel shop which has a decent selection if that is what you are after. To be honest we travelled hand luggage only so we didn’t have room for lots of purchases. FEEDBACK FOR HOTEL Positives: Lovely polite and attentive staff in all areas and a very welcoming clean resort. Lots of hard work is going into the food creation and service which is clear to see. Entertainment varied and appeals to teens The garden and grounds are well kept Pool bar is great! The local beer is nice too! Areas to improve: You really need to invest in creating more shade - many more parasols are required or trees planting in the resort. This is why there is a scramble for sun beds each morning. No one wants to fry alive in the sun all day. It is too dangerous. Shade on the beach also an issue. Parasols are small and do not create enough shade. As climate change increases this a going to be ever important for your guests. Having to get your door key renewed pretty much every time you use it is really annoying and also must be a huge waste of staff time. Keep the public toilets dry and clean from water on the floor. It is very disconcerting to be stepping into this water and get wet shoes and trousers. There is no clear information in the corridors where the staircases are in case of an emergency. Most of the furniture in public spaces is very hard and upright. Consider bringing in more variety of softer furnishings into a section of the lobby. WiFi is intermittent and could be improved. TOP TIPS Bring plenty of sun cream. There were lots of very burnt Brits to be seen. The sun cream in the hotel shop is expensive and poor quality. Do all the water sports you can - 70-100 dinar per person Go to the Spa as soon as you can so you relax more quickly Go to the Snack bar by the beach for lunch to break up eating in the main restaurant so often Bring sunglass goggles because the pool is very salty and bright There are only two news channels on TV in English so download films to watch on devices as Wi-Fi here doesn’t cope well with downloads Of the house wines on offer go for Rose Be prepared for variable Wi-Fi connectivity and it doesn’t reach as far as the beach.

Good hotel with a wonderful kitchen/food, comfortable/big rooms, nice beach and great outside pools. Unfortunately lots of limitations: - animations are too long, too loud and too much (especially after 10 pm) - terrible WiFi - localization: far-away from the city but it could be a big plus as well - fitness center is not free of charge - swimming pools are nice but extremely crowded (too many families with children) - carpets on hallways are dirty
