Staying at Bamboo Nest was a trip highlight. Beautiful private hilltop location, great veiws, wonderful hiking to waterfalls, to hilltribe villages, and to remote farms and orchards high in the hills of rural Chiang Rai. Nok is an amazingly energetic, creative, and kind person who was helpful to me in getting to know Chiang Rai province in many ways. She'll have a new, riverside resort in a year and it will also be small, simple, and lovely. I cannot say enough. I'll be back.

This was one of the highlights of our trip to Northern Thailand. We were picked up by Nok in Chiang Rai and brought up to the Bamboo nest. Nok is highly organised, all emails and communications were answered efficiently. It is a little over an hours drive to the Bamboo nest and very steep as we got nearer. Our bamboo hut was fab. What a wonderful view out over the rice fields, hills, mountains. We had a lovely sitting area where we could chlll in the hammock. Room is great and we had wonderful sleeps as there is so much air coming in to the room. Breakfast is great. There was a fabulous lady called Nong who was there while we were there and doing the cooking. She is such a wonderful cook. For dinner, she served a variety of dishes - all so tasty. It is very sociable as you can chat to other people who are staying there, in the evening time. During the day, you can go on long walks yourself or there is an option for Noi, who is also involved in the business to bring you on treks. We loved the fact that independently, you can head off and walk for hours to the local hot springs, waterfalls, Akha and Shane villages. It is a great spot to relax, chill out, get away from it all and enjoy some time. We stayed 5 nights. It is great value and I would highly recommend a stay here. You really should stay longer than one night to get the real feeling. I am not surprised the reviews are so good.

We spent a driving day together with Mr. Sunny Asia, after inquiring at the Bamboo Nest city office about tours. Our focus was textiles and scenery, so he designed a day that included exactly what we wanted. We saw a large linen weaving center, and ended with a beautiful small Thai Lua weaving studio run by a master weaver. Along the way we saw coffee growing along the Myanmar border, a rice straw mushroom plantation, temples, and the Golden Triangle. A full day, for sure. He is a fantastic guide, willing and able to answer endless questions and facilitate incredibly memorable experiences. Thank you so much, Sunny.

We spent 5 nights in the Bamboo Nest and it was worth every minute we spent there. In this peaceful and laid back environment you can walk the hills and rice fields to local villages, climb up to a waterfall and enjoy a refreshing hot spring and massage all within striking distance of the the Bamboo Nest. Comfortable accommodation, good food and welcoming atmosphere make this a must for anyone wishing to “get away” for a few days.

Our stay at the Bamboo Nest was truly the highlight of our whole Thailand trip. Why? - Nok is organized, a great communicator and provides solid customer service - The place is magical -- morning mists, evening bonfires, outstanding food, lovely communal place to hang out with others - There is a unique and restorative calm/mellowness -- maybe because there is no internet?? - There are many super hikes from Bamboo Nest out into the surrounding area Things to know: - This is definitely "rustic" (come expecting a chance to recharge in a very natural setting, not expecting a 5-star luxury resort!) - There is a lot of interaction with the other guests. It really helps to enjoy being with diverse people and to bring an attitude of respect. During our stay, almost all the guests were lovely, wonderful people! There was one group that did not seem to "get" the culture or understand that the bamboo huts are obviously not sound-proof. They were kind of loud and obnoxious, so we were all happy they only stayed one night! - While we did get internet at a few points along hikes away from Bamboo Nest, there is no wifi or internet service at the property itself. (This was a huge PLUS for us... in fact, one of the key things we loved! But is something to come knowing...) - You can pay extra for a guide/trekking for longer hikes. We didn't do this, but talked with other guests who had and they were very positive about their experience. I would go back in a heartbeat and strongly recommend this to anyone who is planning time up around Chiang Rai.
