The resort occupies an idyllic 26-rai site directly on the banks of the Mae Kok River, moments from Chiang Rai town and a one hour drive from the Golden Triangle where the borders of Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar converge. The resort is set at the heart of beautiful landscaped gardens complete with a tranquil man-made lake and two majestic 100-year-old rain trees. Surrounded by magnificent mountain scenery, the neighbouring community is a jewel waiting to be explored. Nearby attractions include Rai Mae Fah Luang, Le Méridien's chosen UnLock Art site, and Oub Kham Museum which houses a collection of objects from the ancient Lanna kingdom, Myanmar, southwest China, and Vietnam. Nearby attractions include Wat Phra Kaew, the temple that once housed the Emerald Buddha, and the Hill Tribe Education Centre with its fascinating display of tribal artefacts and handicrafts. Boat trips along the Mae Kong River are available from the town of Chiang Khong, with stops along the way at villages of interest. Ethnic groups living in the province include Karen, Lisu, Lahu, Akha, Meo, and Yao, and it is possible to arrange treks into the hill tribe villages with experienced local guides. Mae Sai is 62 kilometres north of Chiang Rai and makes for an interesting day trip. This busy trading post borders Myanmar, and it is possible to cross the bridge to visit the bustling market in Tha Khi Lek. Phu Chi Fa is a spectacular viewpoint. The impressive views are best enjoyed early in the morning, particularly in the cool season when mist covers the valley floor. A highlight to any trip to Chiang Rai is a visit to the Doi Tung Development Project. Started as a royal initiative to help eradicate opium supply, drug use, and rural poverty, the project offers villagers with a practical and sustainable alternative. The project focuses on development, education, training, humanitarian activities, environmental conservation, agriculture, and the production of quality crafts. At the summit of Doi Tung, visitors can visit Phra That Doi Tung, a chedi constructed in 911 A.D and one of the oldest and most sacred sites in northern Thailand. The chedi is said to contain the collarbone of Buddha. Le Méridien Chiang Rai Resort, Thailand is located close to the town centre and a short drive from Chiang Rai Airport.

I recently came here having done a 230 people wedding at JW Marriott Khao Lak. Thinking this property follows Marriott standards I booked it for our day visit in a Chaing Rai. The manager at the lobby was extremely rude - his name was David. I believe he was the guest specialist

Greetings komalp0319 Thank you for your stay and the time taken to share the feedback on the forum. At the onset I apologize that David's interaction with you reaffirming on the standards of benefit delivery based on Marriott Bonvoy program standards and the reiteration of what is being followed at the resort made you think of him as being rude - that was certainly not the intent and it is unfortunate to see the impact it has had and needless to say I will discuss this in person when i return. Further It also presents us with the opportunity to state our side of explanation so that the narrative comes full circle. Me as the GM I am currently in China responding to you at the end of our 1st day of our conference event - and having spoken to the team please find our explanation to the stated feedback herein. We also understand that you will be further engaging with us via our Marriott Bonvoy Platforms and we will continue to work with you as this progresses. The narrative as I have deviates from the beginning and please allow me to represent that and more with factual details here. At check in based on the Gold Elite status which was reserved; you were presented an upgraded room of River View from the Garden View as originally booked. We were then informed at check in that your husband was a Marriott Bonvoy Platinum elite guest - and on requesting the membership number it was found to be a Marriott Bonvoy Gold elite. Our pre-arrival engagement as well requesting for the same number based on your claim of your husband being Marriott Bonvoy Platinum was not responded to. Based on your strong request to get further upgraded - the room was upgraded further category to our Grande Deluxe Room category; and the welcome amenities as set in your original upgraded room based on standards needed to be moved to the new room as you desired and hence resulted in the delay as you mention as experienced during check in. I also understand that after this you expressed a desire to get additional discount benefits on dining up to 50% based on the special event celebration and you were offered the enhanced discounted percentage based on Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite Level Vs. the Gold Elite Level i.e. 20% against the 15% that the Gold Level currently benefits from - this i believe we had a confusion on at check in which David cleared for you. I am also given to understand that our Assistant Front Office Manager has offered you a 50% discount on the Room Night that you have with us; as you seemed very upset with not having your desired expectations met. Your feedback is in stark contrast to the usual service feedback we receive at the resort and the explanation above hopefully brings you comfort on your feedback and to the readers of this forum a more balanced perspective on the requests and our portrayed inability to meet them - and the courtesies extended to you in light of your requests. In closing I apologize that even such extended courtesies did not meet your expectations. Warm Regards Murali Viswanathan General Manager

Greetings GODanny. Hope this finds you well. The property provides benefits in line with the Marriott Bonvoy program guidelines to our Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Elite members. We do not have an Executive Club Lounge or a similar classified room class at the resort. As the benefits chart is too lengthy to be addressed here in the Q&A may we seek specifics so that we could respond better to your question. Please reach out to us at the hotel email address so that we can provide answers in a more suitable manner. Best Regards - Murali - General Manager.

Greetings of the day parmesanp, thank you for considering Le Meridien Chiang Rai Resort for your March family holiday. Our resort is child friendly, with a kids club with scheduled activities, and a 3 tiered infinity swimming pool with one level being ideal for young kids. While the pool caters for children of all ages, it does not have slides and water park type equipment and is more suited for guests of all ages and family relaxation. The resort does not provide a child-minding service, please also note the kids club requires an adult present for children attending younger than 4 years of age. I hope this information is helpful to you and please feel free to reach out to me at the resort if requiring further assistance. Best Regards, David Sayer Le Meridien Experience Specialist
