Home Villa Arusha is located 15 minutes outside of Arusha Town in Muriet. Muriet is a small developing neighborhood full of families and small children. Staying here is a very different experience than staying in the busy town center. Home Villa prides itself on it’s friendly atmosphere and relaxed environment. When you enter the gate of Home Villa, you will feel like you have arrived home. If you were to arrive on a typical evening, even before entering the gate you would be greeted by the sound of laughter. Your first impression is of a campfire surrounded by guests from different countries along with your host Hillary and his cheerful employees Michael and Neema. They may be playing safari trivia or Hillary may be teaching a beginning Swahili lesson. You will be welcomed into the Home Villa family. Most evenings after eating a typical Tanzanian dinner, guests gather around the campfire to talk about their adventures or perhaps play games. Hillary Ngowi, the owner does an amazing job of bringing people together and making Home Villa your home away from home. Staying at Home Villa is a very different experience than staying in a big hotel or hostel in town. Hostels normally consist of communal living with many people and shared bathrooms. Big hotels mimic western living so it’s not a typical Tanzanian experience. Home Villa is a small oasis away from the noise and crowds of the city. All rooms here have their own ensuite bathroom so you have everything you need right in your room. When you venture outside your home away from home you will see how typical Tanzanians live. New houses line the main street where you will see children playing and women dressed in beautiful colors strolling down the road.

I loved my stay at Hillary’s villa! It’s far enough from the usual tourist spots in Arusha that you get to experience a bit of real, local hospitality, but still close enough that town is easily accessible.

Hillary, Michael and Neema were fabulous hosts and the Neema’s home cooking was delicious. 🥘

The accommodation itself has all you need — very clean, hot water, comfy beds, and good Wi-Fi. Each bedroom has its own en suite so it was a perfect place to have some privacy but also enjoy the communal bar, fire pit and games.

This was a gem of a find and we’ll be back on our next visit to Arusha!

Thank you for sharing your wonderful experience at Home villa Arusha! It sounds like you had a great time experiencing at local hospitality while still being close to the town. The hosts, Hillary, Michael, and Neema, seem to have provided excellent service, and Neema's cooking was delicious. It's great to hear that the accommodation had everything you needed, including cleanliness, hot water, comfortable beds, and good Wi-Fi. The private en-suite bedrooms allowed for privacy, while the communal areas like the bar, fire pit, and games provided opportunities for socializing. If you re a fan of posh hotel in town center with expesive restaurant in it - dont bother. But if you like to stay on the edge of the town, see how real Tanzanian village people live. Stay in well equiped room with private toilet and shower, not expensive little bar, owner and staff always there to help you with transport, tours, evening stories about Tanzania and any info you would need - YOU MUST STAY HERE :)
Kettle in the room if needed. Private toilets and shower. Separate hot water tank in the room. Dinner on request if running late from tours etc. All the info about tours/ transfers (contact owner Hillary, he will tell you everything before hand). Fire just outside the bar once it gets dark if you like. Secured site. Solar panel electricity for the lights etc in case if there is a power cut.
Asante sana Hillary. Dream big ! ..Good luck :)

We stayed two nights at Home villa arusha with our two children. It was unbelivable how nice the place was and how Hillary with recycled materials had made the place so cozy and welcoming. The rooms were simple and small but comfortable (no fan which was ok since the nights were cool). We appreciated staying in a safe neighbourhood at the same time as we got a real experience of how Tanzanians live, far from the resorts and lodges were tourists normally stay. The price was great too.

Exactly what we were looking for, beat our expectations, will absolutely stay here every time we are in Arusha. It is run by Hillary, a self-made young man who runs it with a team of family members and friends. Casual, relaxing ambience away from but with easy access to downtown Arusha. Hillary gets the fire going in the evenings and sitting around and chatting with guests and the hosts who become friends is priceless. Our memories here are among the best we have in Africa.

Is an amazing place and the Owner is Fantastic, he even took me to the local BBQ market where I tried local food. Here you can experience the real village life away from city noise/traffic and have the most authentic experiences. The hotel is really pretty and clean with a specious garden and bonfire place. The rooms do not have Ac/Fans, but you absolutely do not need it, in Tanzania gets really cold at night (my bad I didn't know). Everything was perfect and the owner always try his best in order to help. Absolutely recommend

Home Villa Arusha is more than just a beautiful, well-run guesthouse with airy rooms and delicious breakfasts. The owner, Hillary, is a gracious and welcoming host with a vast knowledge and love of his country. While I was there, he and his staff made sure every guest was comfortable and helped us accomplish whatever we wanted to do, including arranging transportation and visiting various points of interest.

Although I only stayed there for 5 nights, it truly felt like my home in Tanzania which, as a solo traveler, was especially valued and appreciated. It is located outside of central Arusha district (but only a short ride away) in a neighborhood with many young families, which allowed me to see how some everyday (and friendly) Tanzanians live and gave me a better understanding of the culture.

I just got back from Africa, and miss Home Village Arusha already, but I know I will definitely be back.

Had a great time visiting Hillary and his staff for three nights together with my family. Despite a miscommunication with the booking the team managed to accommodate us anyway. The breakfast was simple but delicious, a plate full of fresh fruit. Tidy rooms with mosquito nets. The house is a little travel a at from downtown Arusha, however it’s a tranquil place with possibility of relaxing.

Home Villa in Arusha is an amazing place. You have to be aware that it is not located in a tourist area and there are not many attractions or restaurants around. But if you want to experience the culture, have a clean and beautiful home and want to get in touch with the locals, it is the perfect place for you. It is very clean and absolutely beautiful there. The host Hilary is the nicest person you can meet. He offers lots of different day trips and he even joined me when I wanted to visit the Kilimanjaro. We had great conversations, and I learned a lot about his country and culture. I am very thankful that he took a lot of time for me and was just an amazing host all the time!

Home Villa Arusha, it may be a bit difficult to find, but its defenitly worth it. Owner Hillary built an outstanding 'villa' with great attention to detail. Its located in a quiet area away from busy Arusha. Hillary, Neema and Micheal did everything they could to make our stay a pleasant one. Good beds, clean rooms, a hot shower, and Hillary and his team who went all the way to make it a great stay for us
Next time visiting Arusha we will definitly stay here again.
Thank you Hillary, for your help!
