Set in lush gardens amid forest and crystal clear waters on the slopes of Mount Meru, Ngare Sero Mountain Lodge is a wonderful place to relax and simmer in the immense beauty of East Africa. The Lodge has been adapted from an early colonial farmhouse built in the early 20th century and it is one of the oldest family lodges in Arusha. It offers only 10 garden rooms, 2 main house suites and pool cottage with 2 bedrooms, and provides personal service for its residents since 1974. Here you can spend the days amid nature, watching the changing colors of the Kilimanjaro glaciers while sipping drinks on the verandah or hiking in the forest inhabited by colobus and Sykes monkeys as well as hundreds of small animal and bird species. The Lodge is located only 30 minutes away from Kilimanjaro International Airport and Arusha town center and it is a perfect base while on safari in the northern circuit Tanzania.

Still reminiscing about our wedding here at Ngaresero since Nov 23, 2019. This property is heaven on earth!! I feel like I can write a book about it;)

We were truly impressed by the hospitality of all the staff from the first day we started planning our wedding back in 2017; I absolutely appreciate their management particulary Katya and Digna for their expertise in event planning; their creativity, advice, flexibility, cheer and lots of smiles;)

The food was amaizing, beautiful and abundant. Its presentation and details of everything from the rooms to the decor was extremely Elegant.
My bouquet freshly picked from the garden that morning-so beatuful, couldn't get enough of it. Clean and safe drinking water from the spring, birds singing all day and night...
Bathroom were spotless, Rooms uniquely designed, cozy & confortable with one hell of a view including that of Mt Kilimanjaro!

A walk around the property, beautiful discoveries such hydro electic power generation, the horses, forests and soo much more!!

My husband and I cherish every moments we had here. Its unforgettable! Even to our family and friends we invited that day-'t was so much fun! Everyone we shared the video was just speechless!

Its Indeed a perfect destination for family, safari, wedding & other events!!

_Nancy

I have been going to Ngare Sero Lodge since 2013 and it has always felt like a home away from home. The lake, the forest, the wildlife, those epics mountain views- you can’t help but relax, breathe, and disconnect from the noise of the everyday here. The Ngare Sero team are incredibly warm and welcoming and the owners, Tim and Katya, work so hard to make this nature retreat as environmentally friendly as possible. In 2020, every business has a responsibility to be greener, but for Ngare Sero this isn’t just a moral responsibility, it’s their ethos and lifestyle. Much of their food is grown on site and boy is that farm to table tasty. The pool has one of my favorite views in all of Tanzania and you have not seen a sunset until you have seen one from Ngare Sero Mountain Lodge! The lodge offers incredible bird watching, beautiful nature walks and serene boat rides amongst other activities. Ngare Sero is incredibly family friendly and welcoming to guests of any age.

The biggest mistake one could make is going to Ngare Sero for just one night. Go for a minimum of 2 nights as you shake off the jet lag, but stay for 4.

Thank you Ngare Sero, for always being a home away from home. I can’t wait to see you again!

I came here for a 4 day recovery and reflection after a week climbing Kilimanjaro and then 3 days Safari. It is a magical, secluded and very special place, with old style early 20th Century elegance but all the comfort and quiet but quality service to meet the expectations of the 21st century traveller. The grounds are beautiful and teeming with all manner of birds and wildlife. The food is excellent and I dined comfortably alone but looked after with great care and attention, with a different dinner location on the several verandas every night. I swam in the glorious pool and had a yoga session in the spa and spent a wonderful afternoon walking around the grounds with my camera. The team looked after me so well and I left refreshed and rested. I will definitely be back. Thank you, Jessica x

Ngare Sero was recommended by friends but even their high praise or photos on the website didn't prepare us for quite how lovely this lodge is. Our welcome on arrival was warm with dinner waiting despite arriving late in the evening. The next morning at breakfast we became aware of how beautiful and tranquil this lodge is. The rooms are spacious and extremely comfortable. All the staff we met during our stay were incredibly helpful and attentive including Andrew and Shafina who served our meals. Each meal was served in a different location. Our favourite spot was breakfast under shade down by the water watching herons and giant kingfishers. The food was a real highlight, as much as possible is grown onsite or locally sourced. All was beautifully cooked or prepared. We really enjoyed the pool which is spotlessly maintained and surrounded by forest, it is just one more tranquil spot in the grounds. We also walked the forest trail spotting colobus and sykes monkeys and different hornbills. We spent 2 nights at Ngare Sero and didn't want to leave and are already planning when we might return

Stayed 4 nights in the summit suite. The food was very good. For every meal we were seated at another beautiful location, either indoor or outside with a view over the lake or forest, where we could see monkeys or fish eagles... The kids loved the pool and with 30m in length it proved a good work out at this altitude. The boat trip at the lake was amazing, very relaxing, the croquet and horse riding was fun as well.

I recently booked 2 nights at this lodge for our upcoming trip to Tanzania. I booked directly with the lodge vs a discount site for the simple fact of receiving better customer service. Wow, was I wrong. Our trip to Africa is now cancelled due to the Covid 19 and worldwide Pandemic. While other hotel chains and airlines are working with customers and giving full refunds due to the severity of the travel restrictions this hotel is not budging. They are not making any exceptions to their strict policies and telling me that its non-refundable. (even charging me the airport transfers) We are all experiencing disruptions in our life and our futures unknown. They did tell me I can use these 2 nights within a year but this is unacceptable due to the World Crisis. This might be a nice place to stay but the customer service they have is below standard. Book another place that has better customer relations. I am canceling well in advance and for them to keep $552 for a stay that is not happening is just wrong.

As a vegetarian, I was very impressed with the variety of legumes, vegetables and grains incorporated into the dishes. The pool is long and the vegetation surrounding it is diverse; swimming lengths was a real pleasure. My skin enjoyed the natural Tanzanian soap supplied in the bath room. My mind enjoyed the fact that the electricity and water heaters are run on the lodge's own water turbine.

This early 20th century German farm house has retained its colonial charm, comfortable rooms with garden views and lounges and dining areas that open onto wide covered verandahs from which, on a clear day, you can see Mt Kilimanjaro. There is a pleasant walking trail besides the lake, and a lovely swimming pool to relax besides. You may be lucky and see black and white Colobus monkeys playing in the trees. The home cooked meals were excellent, using fresh ingredients grown on the property. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It is a lovely place to relax either before or after your safari or Kilimanjaro hike.

We had a fantastic stay at the lodge, just walking around and taking in the scenery was splendid in itself. It was fun for all of us, young and older. The staff is quite amazing and everything was on point. The horses roamed around in the garden while we had our tea and delicious lunch amidst the lush plants and enormous trees, and we enjoyed the beautifully decorated lodge, garden and pool with all amenities that you could ask for such as complementary soft towels and comfortable deck chairs. We even played a game of croquet. Everything is taken into consideration at Ngare Sero lodge and we left revived and inspired.
We hope to be back again soon!

I like to make my reviews as concise as possible and I would start with what I really loved about Ngaresero lodge. The environment is Arusha’s Meru at its finest. Beautiful and natural. The receptionist was very accommodating for a conservative Muslim like myself and she was very professional.
The boat man Godwin was so welcoming and did a great job. The food was delicious and the server Emmanuel was brilliant. The horse ride was great as well.

Even better of the lodge had one room or a space for us religious people to pray in such a magic place. I had to use the dinning room to pray which is less than ideal. Otherwise this place is amazing and I look forward to my next vist.

Dear Khalid, We are happy to hear you had a good time at the lodge. We wish we could communicate better about the prayer room during your stay - our spa tent at the swimming pool could serve as a private space for that when not is use with massages. And are happy for guests to use it. Karibuni tena and thank you for taking time to write this review. Best regards, Katya Leach
