My wife and I stayed at Savannah House before and after our safari and had an exceptional time at Savannah House. When you step inside the gate, you are welcomed by a sweet family staff who let you share their beautiful oasis. The outdoor/patio area is nice to relax outside your room and enjoy complimentary tea/coffee at any time. There is a sweet outdoor kitty who we enjoyed petting too. The room itself (we had a double room) was very comfortable and clean, the bed comfortable (firm to our liking), good sized bathroom with a wet shower like all showers in Tanzania and a fan if you need a breeze (although the temperature was perfect, nice and cool). There was even a universal power strip so you can easily charge your things including anything from USB. Best of all though was the complimentary breakfast. Cooked fresh and served on a beautiful table set with nice touches like beaded coasters and place mats, we enjoyed an array of fruit, avocado, bread, Tanzanian pancakes/crepes, avocado cucumber salad, eggs if you like (we're vegan so opted out), fresh juice, etc. What a wonderful breakfast to start the day! The staff also helped to call in a pizza for delivery one night for our dinner. They even arranged a taxi service (for an extra charge) to the JRO airport (an hour away) the day we checked out from the hotel and the driver was punctual for our super early morning departure. Above and beyond our expectations! We did not venture outside the Savannah House gate to explore the neighborhood, but this is not really in downtown Arusha. I'm certain there are food options within walking distance, but we ordered pizza and had it delivered so we did not have to leave the property.

Although you need to use a car or bus to arrive there, Savannah House is really a value for money place. Other accomodatioin places cannot beat the quality of the rooms and service of Savannah House by this price. Also, the kind and friendly owner is impressive.

Great place to stay. Super helpful and friendly hosts. Stayed here before and after our safari. Rooms are spacious, clean and newly renovated. Anthony was very helpful including providing tips on transportation. He walked us to a local restaurant near the guest house and drove us to the bus station and ensured we were in the correct coaster bus and for the correct cost. Stored our bags during the safari. His sister walked us to and flagged down a dala dala to go to the city center.

Even before I arrived at Savannah House, I was texted by Tony the owner to inquire whether I require transportation from the airport or elsewhere. We were on an overland expedition across Africa in our Toyota Fortuner, so experienced many different types of accommodations across various countries including Tanzania. It is fair to say that Savananah House stood out head over heels above most other accommodations in terms of service, facilities and price

Tony's hospitality was immediately apparent, as he went out of his way to assist making our stay as comfortable as possible.

Savannah house is a quaint, clean and effectively run operation with staff that has the best interest of their guests as paramount.

In my view, Savannah house is currently the best value for money in the whole of Arusha and I will encourage anyone to give Tony and his staff the opportunity to provide you their excellent service and hospitality.

Nice, small and clean house with an nice garden to chill out.
We booked two nights in the savannah house but stayed four because we liked it so much.
The host Tony was the friendliest and most helpful guy we met in Arusha. He helped us a lot to plan our trips in the area.
He also helps you with organizing your safaris or climbing the kilimanjaro.
We were able to park our car in the courtyard and the laundry service was fast and not too expensive.
I would definitely recommend the savannah house to everyone who likes it famil and doesn't need a luxury hotel.

Best regards from Alex ;)

A cozy little hostel in a quiet area, the perfect place to recharge your batteries before and after your safari :) Anthony (the host) is one of the nicest people we've met in our life! He arranged for us a safari at a good price. He was eager to help us with everything we needed, took us to dinner at a nearby restaurant, organized a guided walk around the city, exchanged currencies at a fair price, etc. He took care of us as if we were family, and we had a great time talking to him :) Regarding the hostel itself, our room was quite small but cozy and nicely decorated with everything you might need. There are lots of interesting local decorations throughout the house and garden. You can relax outside in the small garden under the banana trees. The breakfast was delicious, very varied and so huge that we couldn't eat it all! In a word - great place to stay in Arusha, we felt at home :)

Anthony (the owner) came with a driver to pick us up at tha airport which was really nice and we got a personal connection with him from the start. Wonderful person. Wonderful staff overall! Bena and Rosie was so nice and was playing with our child all the time in the garden.
Savannah House is like a hidden oasis in the suburb of Arusha. Like mentioned it has a really cozy and nicely decorated garden with many places to chill and also a delightful dining area.
Our room was very aesthetic with animal paintings on the wall, really cool wooden beds and a fan in the ceiling for warm days.

If I have to improve anything in this fantastic place it is only the breakfast. It was a bit too much for us to eat so we almost only ate the fruit, veggies pancakes and toasts. Everything else was excessive. For us anyway!
Other than that, no remarks whatsoever!

The location is great, close to local markets and a short dala-dala ride to the city centre of Arusha.

The host Tony makes this place even more special.

Look no further for recommendations about the best place to visit, safari tours, remote places to visit, traditional food, local tribes and general contact with the local people.

Everything about this Savannah House was great. Stay away from 5* hotels and fancy places and just go there!

We also cannot recommend more the company of the guide and now friend, Mr Goodluck. A very caring person, humble and honest human being. ( asante Kaka) !

My best wishes and thanks for such great memories!

Fernando & Geraldine

My girlfriend and I stayed at Savanna House before and after our safari, and had a very comfortable relaxing stay both times. The staff are super friendly and welcoming (there’s also a very friendly cat which was really nice!). The breakfast in the morning was amazing with so much delicious food - the price seemed worth it for the breakfast alone! Although not quite in the centre of Arusha there are lots of bars/places to eat all within walking distance; and taxis into town are pretty inexpensive! Rooms were nicely decorated and had very comfortable beds as well as nice hot showers and a good wifi connection! 10/10 would recommend!

I had a great time at Savannah house!! Anthony the owner is super friendly and is always there to help you!! He will tell you where you can eat, go out and he can also recommend you a super guide which name is Goodluck. I spent 3 days with Goodluck and had an amazing time!!! This guide is exceptional! So really, you should ask him! He took me to a visit of town of Arusha as well as the Masai market. We also went for a 2 day trip to lake eyasi to visit fishermen, local tribes, little school and watch sunset. This experience was unique! For the rest, savannah house is super clean, confortable and food is delicious. Thank you !!
