My father and I stayed here 1 night April 9 after our Kilimanjaro climb, left our luggage for a few days while we went on safari, then stayed 3 more nights April 13 through 16 as a layover while we waited on the required covid test results. The room was large, clean and comfortable, the property is quiet, secured, with a beautiful garden that has trees heavy with fruit. We were greeted with fresh juice, and the light breakfast consisted of coffee, tea, juice, fresh fruit, chapati, sweet potatoes, porridge and more. The property is within easy walking distance of several restaurants and the clock tower area. All the employees we encountered were friendly, professional, and helpful.
The highlight of our stay was our time with Hamza, who does the cultural tourism programs for the homestay. He was excited to show us around and became a friend. He walked us through the COVID testing and payment process at Mt Meru hospital which was VERY confusing to us (book ahead of time, hard to find, payment must be done via a bank not on site, our results took 52 hours), accompanied us to the natural history museum with a student docent who made the experience so much richer, helped us navigate the vendors at the masaai market, and took us to the cultural center. The next day he took us to the Chagga village of Ngurdoto to spend the day with the Umangu women's group. These ladies greeted us with song, showed us their bee keeping, honey press, soap making, garden, coffee roasting, fish ponds, and shared a meal with us. We were able to try so many foods and fruits, and even a sip of banana beer. Hamza participated and provided valuable translation for us. The next day we went to a glass blower that employs disabled workers, and the main roaster of the area to buy EXCELLENT coffee to take home. Having Hamza organize these adventures and accompany us made the experience so much richer than if we had struck out on our own, and it was so convenient through the homestay. I highly recommend a stay at themi valley, and spending some time with Hamza, it was wonderful having a local excited to share his town and the local culture with us.

The manager Hamza and staff were very helpful. The manager Hamza picked me up from the airport and drove me back to the airport. He showed me around Arusha, took me to kilimanjaro, Mount meru water falls and other interesting places. The homestay offers good breakfast and comfortable accommodations. As a solo traveller, I felt safe and would definitely stay again.

An oasis close to Arusha city centre surrounded by a wonderful lush garden. Easy atmosphere and and extremely friendly and helpful staff, especially Hamza. Very nice place to meet other travelers, many from Tansania. Transfer from/to Kilimanjaro Airport, Arusha bus station and other places. Simple but comfortable rooms. Breakfast could have a little more variety.

The place has a very beautiful garden and the best host Hamza. He made our stay perfect from start to finish. Hamza spent all his time with us from the first minute we arrived. He made an overall excursion around the garden and the surrounding territory, helped us to find a safari tour company and save some money, showed us the Arusha city and some it's hidden gems and accompanied us at a dinner. It was a true cultural exchange! Thanks a lot for that!
Unfortunately the room wasn't really cozy. Maybe it's because of a cold temperature lights. The bathroom needs some renovations. There is no hot water in a sink, only in the shower. The bed sheets and the bathroom didn't feel too clean. I would suggest to turn off the fridge in the room for a night time, because it is quite noisy. And don't expect a lot from the breakfast.

We were greeted and shown to the room, which is quite nice and clean. Unlike other reviewers we weren't shown around or offered any services. The breakfast wasn't good - particularly considering the room price - it was well below standard of breakfasts experienced elsewhere. See photos. Good central location and nice garden.

Thank you so much Petay for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you did not get a chance to be shown our nice garden, surroundings, beekeeping project as well as our zero grazing that results to biogas production and nice milk for the breakfast. Pleas note that this service is offered for free and some times it goes with asking for it so we think you did not ask for it. We promise to do it to you wherever you visit is again. First the breakfast we have improved enough to suite our guests so worry not, you are warmly welcome again.

This is a great place to stay in downtown Arusha - bungalow type rooms amidst a lush tropical garden, quiet and romantic. All facilities for comfortable stay. In addition, they provide tailor-made local tours - to villages, hiking etc. Definitely a great place to stay.

The themi valley ecolodge is a friendly place with an affordable price well located around attractions and nice restaurants.

If you know that it is not a luxury lodge (it seems more like a hostel), you will be pretty happy about it. Be careful about the description on booking.com though.

Here is a list of what is really included! Rooms with beds and some pieces of furniture, bathroom with shower with hot water, toilet and sink, towels and soap. No mosquito net, no included kitchen or flat screen tv (not a big deal but just so you know). No safety deposit or key card access, a normal lock with a key, which was fine!

Some rooms have a garden view, our had a view on the wall of rocks so the inside of the room was much darker. The windows have screen and you can open them.

There is a commun area with chairs and tables which serve as a dining room for included breakfast. (You can also order lunch or diner with additional fees or walk around corner at Pepe for good and cheap pizza!) There is a microwave and a toaster. Don’t be to excited about the hot tub, there is none!

If you want to have a look, The pictures on booking.com are accurate.

You can book activities with Hamza (manager) or ask around. We did cooking class with via via cultural cafe. For any need, you can ask Hamza, he is really nice and helpful !

The staff and manager are very friendly and helpful. The hotels location is very convenient. Easy access, and walking distance to the city. The manager, Hamza, arranged our transfers to /back the airport and the drivers were all very helpful. The rooms are clean and simple. The breakfast was good and if you want to have dinner at the hotel you can order this in the morning. We had a great time and met people from all parts of the world at breakfast. The wifi is not always working. They have a beautiful yard with vegetables and a cow.
Hamza does his job with passion and pride. He is professional, trustworthy, reliable and friendly. . We are grateful for all that he did as he reached above and beyond. I strongly recommend Themi Valley Eco and Cultural Home Stay hotel and thanks to him and the staff we had a relaxed and stress-free stay. (They prefer to be paid in dollars.

Thank you so much Jacqueline for the great feedback. We were real happy being with you for all those days at our Homestay. Also we are sorry for unreliable internet during your stay due to trees prooning along the fibre wire that caused the cutoff of internet. All these are now sotterd out and internet is available all the time. It's our hope that these feedback will be useful to other guests planning the stay in Arusha. We are really receive dollars, Euros and any other money that can be exchanged in our country or Tanzanian shillings equivalent to indicated price. We are glad to welcome you all for the great experience.
