On our road trip in South Africa we went through Swaziland and stopped in this mesmerizing resort. Due to the season it was very quiet and we had a lovely stay.

The rooms are spacious and clean with very comfortable beds. Airco was really needed because it was hot outside but worked like a charm and was not noisy.

There are various options to have a meal and we chose both room service for lunch and went to the restaurant for dinner. The lunch was good but not excellent. We chose tempura shrimp but due to the distance between the kitchen and the room they ended up a bit mushy. Dinner at night was really nice with a great view of the lake.

To be fair, we arrived late after a 9 hour drive, and having read in paper the following morning at breakfast that border was closing sometime, didn't stay as long as we had planned, But the rooms were clean and very comfy, well appointed with everything you would expect. a bit of a walk from the main part of the hotel, the staff in the resturant were attentive and pleasant. although the security guard/porter played with his phone, while we unloaded the car ( 2 small cases ) and attempted to find reception, it was only when the guy in reception ( who clearly just wanted to get back to his phone) that the porter finally decided to help ( I guess the customary tip inspired helpfulness!) We when eventually found the resturant ( need more signage) the food was good, although they sat us directly next to a family with 2 small children depsite the rest of the place empty.
Breakfast was good, although not everything offered on the cold buffet list was on offer.

Arrived to a non smiling receptionist. Checked in to room to find no milk in the tea tray, one proper tea bag (we don’t drink roibos). No working Wi-Fi or tv. Plus dirty towel in the wash basket from previous guest and a noisy creaking bathroom door. Light at end of path not working so found a step the hard way in the dark! Used light in phone after that.
Tv got sorted but very snowy, to be told need to book a better room to get a clear picture!
Milk and tea replenished, but the second day was the same, we had our own so gave up!
No luggage help and not given any instructions to dial 9 for reception until too late.
Door creak never sorted so woke hubby up in the night when I visited the loo.
Light at end of path never fixed.
Wi-Fi did work in room 36 hours after arrival.
Pool bar very good prices and bar man excellent, as were the restaurant staff.
A tip for the cleaning staff, you might have wellies on when washing the paths down but guests don’t! Soaking wet sandals thanks !!!
The grounds and settings were amazing, this is what sells this hotel. BUT In my mind whether you stay-in the basic room or top room you should get all services for which you are paying.

The botanical garden is absolutely stunning. The rooms are OK. Staff is a disaster; they work hard but they lack a proactive attitude and most of them don't know what hospitality is. Reception desk only provides information if you ask them. We only got help with our luggage when we asked for it. The bartender only had 2 (!!!) suitable glasses for the bottle of Malbec that we ordered. And only when we specifically asked he cleaned them. My glass contained cobweb... Pool Bar only opened at 14.00 hrs. and not at 11.00 hrs. Pool bartender didn't clean the outside tables when guests left, he didn't dry the tables after rain. Restaurant is not fine dining, the food is OK but not fancy. Chef wasn't able to cook all the dishes at the menu because some ingredients were missing. For days. And somehow for most guests it is normal to have loud video conversations at breakfast or at the dinner table. Completely uninterested if this was disturbing to other guests. The breakfast guy was unfriendly to us during our entire stay, no idea why. Not all rooms had an umbrella. And Wifi is very very poor, it only works well near the receptions desk or at the Pool Bar.

Receptionists are really nice and helpful, rooms are spacious and well appointed, furnished in a classic way and impeccably clean. Although the room decoration might feel slightly outdated they are nevertheless very comfortable. Breakfast is wonderful, the restaurant is brilliant and generally all the staffs are very attentive and a pleasure to deal with.

Stayed here before and it is always nice to visit them again. The rooms are individual stand-alone structures scattered through the gardens that give it a very relaxed feeling. The gardens are very well maintaned. The restaurant is of top quality.

We booked a luxury suite months in advance of our arrival. Apparently they were no longer available so they downgraded us to the Peace Pod. Which is unfortunate because none of this was communicated up front and not even when we arrived. Only after we saw the room we knew something had gone wrong in our reservation. The Peace Pod is clean and new but basically a small (cold) Ikea container outside the garden, so not exactly on par with the stylish suites in the garden (see photos)

When asking the receptionist she said sorry (with friendly words but less friendly non-verbal communication) but there is nothing she could do because they were fully booked. However, on booking.com there were multiple larger rooms available. So they chose to downgrade rather than upgrade and not communicate it.

So the overall experience was quite poor. We also had some power outages that were limited to the Peace Pod room.

The garden itself is beautiful though. Clearly a lot of work goes into maintaining it and the result is a beautiful garden rich with many species of birds.

The restaurant has a bit of an odd style and seatings (low tables) but the food is ok to good overall and the staff is very friendly.

The pool bar has the same odd style, and has no audio system (i.e. music), no draft beer, no toilet and is a bit more expensive that most places in Eswatini&SA

One of the most stunning environments and hotels in the Malkerns area. The gardens are breathtaking. Unfortunately we had a very big storm when we got there and the power was out for most of the time, so unable to enjoy most of the amenities, I had to be moved to a room that had aircon working which looked out onto a building site, but I would suggest that it is very good when everything is working. The rooms are beautifully decorated and large. The bar and staff are excellent and the restaurant is a fair walk, but good.

The spacious beautiful gardens welcomed us and then the beautiful ladies helped carry the luggage to the room. This was a plus ➕. The rooms were beautiful and spacious. AC working perfectly to heat up the room as desired. The meals were great. I loved the baby Chicken. Everything was great. I was busy so missed enjoying a swim at the beautiful swimming pool. I will definitely be back for holiday.

This hotel is a real oasis! The huge, landscaped and well-groomed territory gives you peace of mind and aesthetic pleasure. Hotel rooms are private houses, which fully ensures security and privacy. The restaurant has a magnificent luxurious interior, service is at a good level. I remember this hotel with warmth in my heart

Hi. We stayed at Summerfield one month ago (June) and stayed in the best as well. The best is a separate building and they have rooms both upstairs and downstairs rooms. Not sure which numbers are which. To answer your bigger question, the doves nest building is NOT close to the reception nor restaurant. In fact, you may want to drive to the restaurant. The property is beautiful but is Layed out over a large area. Hope this helps
