We lack words to describe how incredible our experience at D'Legon Villas was. We stayed at the villa with pool and jungle view, and everything was amazing. Breathtaking view and scenery, top notch amenities, very professional and helpful staff (the absolute NICEST people on earth, really focused on making your stay the most enjoyable experience). The villas are ideally located, a stone throw from the centre of Ubud (a 15 mn stroll by a convenient street gets you directly to the main street, Jalan Raya Ubud), but also nicely isolated from the trafic and hectic bustle of the touristic centre of town. Best of both worlds : we did all our activities and sightseeing on foot in the town, and could have very quiet rest moments at night and whenever we fancied staying a bit in the villa (often at the end of the day, after extensively touring the surroundings of Ubud). We are not much demanding about tech conveniences, so this is not our main point of concern, but the villa has everything to offer on that matter, from air conditioning to TV (which we do not watch much usually, let alone during holidays), a completely equipped kitchen, etc. The main remarkable features for us where the exquisite decoration, attention to detail and the taste involved in every choice of furniture, general layout and organization of space. The bathroom is itself is a masterpiece, with different textures of stones (basalt, travertine) on the floor and walls, just gorgeous. The outside amenities are memorable, with a splendid gazebo where you can seek some shade on sunny hours, and a very beautiful overflow pool, enshrined in a luxuriant and cared-of garden of trees, bushes and flowers. Eventually the major points of excellence of the D'Legon Villas are the staff members, at the same time both discrete and wishing to cater for all our needs with high professionalism, be it on food (the freshly prepared breakfasts were a daily feast both for the eyes and our palates) or other requests and pieces of advice. We leaved the place with fond memories of our interactions with all the nice people there, and they will definitely be part of the reasons we already plan to come back as soon as we can ! :-)

This is a stunning place away from the hustle and bustle of Ubud yet within walking distance of some lovely cafes. The staff here are so lovely and friendly as it’s a family run business. If you have a room without a private pool there is a communal one : when we were there no one was using it. There is a very cool common lounge where you can order delicious home cooked meals ( like have a private butler service!). You feel like you are in a private home which is very special. My only fault would be that the bedding was a bit tired and our sofa/day bed had quite a few stains and was a bit shabby ( we didn’t want to use it) Also our TV didn’t work but they tried to fix it. Didn’t really need a TV though, it’s a shame about the sheets and daybed stains - I imagine they are recovering from the Covid days. Besides that I would still recommend this beautiful place, the price point is very good.

Put simply, D’Legon is the perfect location to stay in Ubud! The hotel itself is run with meticulous attention to detail, the most friendly service and every requirement is catered for. We stayed in the Jungle View Villa, and it really was that! Sat in a private area of the grounds, facing into a jungle gorge, it was a spotlessly clean, well appointed and so so comfortable. A private infinity pool, a comfy cabana, private sunbathing area and a lovely deck were available solely for our use. The Villa itself had a comfy lounge and dining area, a kitchen and the most romantic and comfy bedroom. A huge bathroom with walk in shower and individual wash basins rounded off the excellent facilities. We chose to go with breakfast included and we were not disappointed. A wide selection of traditional dishes, freshly prepared every morning, with heaps of fruit and fresh juices! I had Mie Goreng everyday and it was simply exceptional! On the local area, the staff could not be more helpful. Great advice and the opportunity to book tours as needed - although we chose to do much of our own touring on scooter - which was provided hassle free by the hotel! All in, I cannot recommend this place enough! I have travelled all over the world and have rarely seen such friendly and dedicated service - I will genuinely miss the team at D’Legon!

The hotel is located in a very quiet and peaceful setting far from the noise of cars and scooters. However going to Ubud downtown was very easy, either if you rent a scooter or with the hotel shuttle service who was very friendly and flexible. The staff here is professional and very respectful. You can choose between different kinds of breakfast (traditional Indonesian, continental breakfast, etc.)

My partner and I stayed in August. The property is about a 5 minute drive out from the centre of Ubud, but I think too far to walk on the narrow roads. There are a couple of restaurants in the area. Our villa was huge, and well equipped and clean. The service was excellent, and we had a nice breakfast each day. We enjoyed our stay.

I booked a Family Suite that was listed as having a kitchenette and private pool. Typically, when one books a suite you think there will be a private living area with some seating and perhaps a television. Well, the Family Suite here is actually two private rooms connected by an external balconey. It is not a FAMILY SUITE. It is two separate rooms! Also, there is not private pool, or kitchenette. The website totally misrepresented the room, so that was pretty disappointing. My husband and I could not leave our two young daughters to sleep alone, so we had to split up and sleep with a child in each room. Not what I had planned for my vacation. On a good note, the staff is exceptional, breakfast is very good. I just cannot get over feeling scammed into booking a room that is not at all what I was told I would be getting.

My partner and I stayed at D’Legon for 2 nights. We had a very relaxing stay and enjoyed every minute. The villas are quiet and peaceful, away from the hustle and bustle of the main streets of Ubud. Location and transport- D’Legon is a 5 minute drive from the Main Street so they offer a shuttle service until 6pm. The owner was very accommodating and drove us in and picked us up at alternate hours to the shuttle as we wanted to stay in town later for dinner. We didn’t realise each trip would cost us but it was only 60k rupiah so it was fair. If you enjoy walking you could walk there but it would take about 20-30 minutes. Restaurant- It’s a small kitchen with only 1-2 people working so you need to give notice/order an hour in advance for dinner, or order he say before for breakfast. We were the only ones who dined there on our first night. Food and service was great though. Room- Our room was lovely and spacious, with a comfy bed and beanbags to sit on. It overlooked the car park/driveway so not much of a view but we didn’t have a balcony so it didn’t matter. Staff- Every staff member went above and beyond for us and were all incredibly kind. We felt very welcome from the minute we arrived.

We stayed in the two-bedroom private villa which is situated about a three-minute drive away from the main complex. The villa is on a busy road next to a restaurant. It is a very noisy location and we were kept awake until 1am by passing cars and motorbikes. D'Legon were also building a carport/garage at the front of the property and on our first morning (around 6am), we were disrupted by building noises. D'Leon were very apologetic though and compensated by cooking us a lovely dinner. A sweet and thoughtful gesture. The villa is visually impressive with lovely high ceilings and a great outdoor pool. The landscaping is lovely and the gardens are kept in tip-top condition. There is a separate kitchen outside where staff prepare meals. It has a big fridge which is helpful if you have lots of cold drinks or want to make your own food. There are two bedrooms, three bathrooms and three toilets. The lounge area connects to the main bedroom via very steep stairs. Note: the stairs do not have railing so I would not recommend this villa for families with small children. My kids are aged 6 and 9 and my little one slipped. The bedrooms are of a good size and we found the firm beds very comfortable. Unfortunately the main bedroom is under-lit and is extremely dim at night time. We found it difficult to find things in this semi-darkness (but great if you want mood lighting!) and as a previous reviewer mentioned, it is impossible to apply make-up in the bedroom. The second bedroom is downstairs and while connected to the main villa, you access it through the front door. So in order to see my children, I had to unlock the front door and walk out to the second bedroom. I have to say I felt VERY uncomfortable about this. Having read previous reviews, I did contact D'Legon as I was concerned about access to the second bedroom. I explained that I had small children and they said that the second bedroom was connected to the main villa. While technically correct, I felt so nervous about the children (two girls) being separated from us. In fact, they only lasted 1/2 hour before telling us they felt scared. We ended up setting up their bedding on the downstairs couch for our three night stay. A bit annoying when you shell out for a two-bedroom property. All the staff were so friendly and willing to help with everything we needed. We attended one of the craft activities and we really enjoyed learning about Balinese culture and trying to make a traditional offering. The villa has a shuttle bus that leaves at regular times throughout the day but stops at 6pm (unless you arrange and pay for a late-night transfer). When I enquired about how to organise a taxi to the monkey forest, one of the staff said they could drop us there. We were surprised to see a $10 fee added to our bill upon check-out as we were not advised of the cost. We thought they were just being helpful. All in all, D'Legon is a lovely looking villa with a great pool, lovely food and helpful staff. Unfortunately I wouldn't stay here again due to security issues, noisy location and inadequate lighting.

Let me preface this review by saying that I am a needy, neurotic and fussy New Yorker that happens to find pleasure in traveling, complaining and being comfortable to an almost scientific level. Sapna and the rest of the staff (Ajik, Juni, Ayu, Tina, Ngakan and Budi) at D’Legon Villas are some of the most wonderful people we have ever dealt with in all of our travels. They have taken the utmost care in making sure that we are comfortable, safe and most of all happy. We opted to have breakfast and dinner in the 2 bedroom villa everyday, and everyday the food and cooking were excellent. If you are looking for 5-star service and care, you’ve found the place. Anywhere else in the world you will not get the same level of service and care without something being amiss. We took tours and opted for private rides and nothing was ever wrong or weird. Everything was perfect. Balinese Indonesians are the kindest and most caring people that you will ever meet. Sapna, Ajik, Juni, Ayu, Tina, Ngakan and Budi are no exception and by far- out of all the people that we have met on our travels, they have been the most sincere and the kindest. You can stop looking for a place to stay in Bali. This is it. We will be back most definitely and I hope everything will be the same. We love D’Legon and the rest of the staff here. We are sad to leave.
