Villa BonaAt the end of a small quiet lane off jalan kaya ayu, in the heart of Seminyak, behind an antique carved wooden door, is revealed the compound of ‘VILLABONA’. Charmed is what one feels at the sight of the welcoming terrace and the discovery of one of the most elegant pools on the island set in the midst of a luscious garden dotted with four Javanese style houses. The mood here is a mix of European elegance and tropical character. Each of the houses is tastefully decorated with antiques and relics from both worlds for the pleasure of its constantly returning and selective guests. The main house, Rumah Java, host to a charming collection of Indonesian artefacts, steps up from the garden and pool (22m x 3,5m), opens onto a lovely terrace. It is composed of a large and breezy open space, with kitchen, dining, various living and reading corner and en-suite shower room. The air conditioned media alcove allows the possibility for extra sleeping facility. The second house, of medium size, is an air conditioned bedroom, fitted with a double bed, an en- suite shower room. The front door opens onto a little terrace overlooking, yet private, from the main house and garden. The third house, of smaller size, hosts a double bed, an en-suite outdoor shower and a small terrace overlooking the expanse of the flowering garden and the magnificent pool. And finally the fourth house (Rumah Putih – White House), a two storey structure hidden by verdant climbing vines, retreated to the back of the garden, bright and summery with distinctive whitewashed interior. A wonderful place to entertain, the ground floor, is a large living room with sofa and lounging alcove on one side and an open plan kitchen to the other. The attached bathroom has the particularity of hosting the most unusual and lovely polished cement bathtub around. Back in the main room, two doorways lead to the shaded outside dining area, overlooking the attractive immensity of the pool, one doorways leads to the bedroom on the ground floor. The upstairs is dedicated to the queen size, air conditioned bedroom with a gorgeous view to the garden below. This compound is grand, diverse and magical.Facilities: 1 Satellite TV + DVD, 1 TV + DVD, vast collection of DVD, 2 hi-fi, wi-fi, air conditioning in four bedrooms, one alcove, safe deposit, pool, garden, two kitchens. Land Size: total are 1,500 square meter, 16,145 square feet. Built area: 400 square meter, 3,875 square foot

An amazing hidden villa in the middle of busy Seminyak. An excellent mix of Balinese culture and calmness. Ilios and Sarah were amazingly hospitable and friendly. We loved them ! We will definitely recommend it. We hope to go back there soon!!!

We stayed as a family over the new year - booked for 9 nights moved on after 4 nights.
Driver did not pick up us from airport, pouring rain had to come in 2 taxis. The villas are wonderful traditional houses, modernized for the traveller, but it does not really work. We paid $500 US a night - not worth it. We had a brief handover from the owners Mother, she was charming, never sighted em again. Villa staff cleaned but the towels had holes in them, the linen did not fit the beds and you could not use a hair dryer without blowing the fuses. Breakfast was included, but not edible, stale bread with butter and jam and fruit platter that was put back in the fridge uncovered and trundled out again the next day - yuck. Some kind of herbal tea that was not pleasant, no wonder the owners Mother told us to go to cafe bali for breakfast, even she knew it was rubbish.
The last straw was when it rained and the bathroom was under water and the sewer cam up through the shower - we quickly booked else where and left. Thank goodness we had only paid a 50% deposit. Location was great but taxis won't go down the side street to drop you off as it is too narrow, annoying when it's bucketing down.
