I stayed in Howard The Fern Hotel from 15-19th Jan 2020, the stay was extremely comfortable. The format office and reception team was problem..solving and customer focussed , they used to resolve each and every, even the small queries.
Hats off to maintenance and safety team as they came to my room twice to check the fire as the red beep of fire alarm was on due to the water vapours of geyser.

The restaurant team specially Mr Rajendra Sharma tried to kept homely atmosphere in restraint for customers. And tried to ask for area of improvement .He is an asset of this hotel.
I would wait this hotel to achieve flying colors with a great success

The first room allocated had several problems, a gap in the window let too much noise in, it was very close to the road traffic. However the reception staff responded well to our complaints and helped us with a plug adapter and to eventually change the room. The Evening buffet and breakfast were very good and the hot food was welcome as it is cold at that time of year. And great shops inside the hotel.

Nicely furbished large rooms but uses old electrical wall plugs and had not upgraded to USB wall plugs. An old hotel in the heart of city centre which is convenient to go to nearby shops for jewels, carpet, woolen scarfs, carpet, fine paintings. Buffet breakfast was mixture of Western and Indian, rather basic but ask for Masala Chai instead of tea or coffee. Good service at Check In and in F&B too. Don't be forced to give Tips, if you don't want to.

Except the location hotel doesn't even deserves 1 star. All the staff members seems to be new and too slow to address any issues. I had two sleepless nites because aircon wasn't working besides this tap of the washbasin in the toilet wasn't working properly next morning I complained but when I returned in the evening none of the problems were attended infact they changed the shower head. A technician finally attended the aircon problem in my presence and rectified but again at 2am it went off. The final morning early in the morning house keeping force opens my door despite do not open sign was activated on the door, room service staff is so impatient that after delivering tea in the room he again comes knocking to clear the table without any request to clear the room. Toilets are old and smelly. Room tidiness is also not upto the mark. Iron is provided on per call basis and first day I had to twice ask for the iron. The first morning I asked for the masala tea and I was delivered the tea which was probably in one of the tea urns during breakfast hours because u can feel the taste difference. Overall very bad.

Some of the staff were lovely and welcoming but unfortunately that’s where the positive ends. The rooms are really dated and feel dirty, paint peeling from the bath tub, mould, tiles and floors need a good scrub, everything just looks really run down. Wifi didn’t work in my room they attempted a few times to rectify but in the end I was just too tired and said not to worry about it so had to use roaming. Food is average, I also found what looked like a piece of bone in my food (kind or deterring when I ordered vegetarian). I told this on check out where the manager tried to tell me it was a piece of papadum, I’m not stupid, I know what a papadum looks like - this foreign object was bone hard. All he did was shrug and did nothing about it and refused to void the cost of that dish And just walked off. The hotel does not have soya milk, first I encountered since being in India. The butter is floating in water which I’m assuming is tap water and cannot be consumed by westerners without getting sick (this is more an FYI for westerners travelling here to be careful). Bay window to sit and and watch the world pass by below - but bear in mind this means it’s quite noisy. Also yet another hotel that gave us a key without confirming name or asking to see ID... even when I offered to show they said no - which is a security risk, anyone can come up and ask for a key and gain access to our room. I definitely wouldn’t class as 4 star hotel, Maybe 2. Worst stay in India so far. Definitely would not return or recommend to anyone.

We visited the hotel and the hotels rooms are in pathetic condition and the staffs if so rude.
Rooms toilet are horrible not cleaned properly having the Yellow Marks and urine marks on it.
They showed me 5 room all the 5 rooms were having hairs in the bathroom which shows how safe and hygienic to saty in this hotel after COVID.
No Temperature check at the entry points.
No Sanitizer in the rooms nor at the reception or at any F&B outlet.
Breakfast was ok ok as options was very limited / also they say they give mango juice but actually they give Frooti in the breakfast .

Really a pathetic hotel and very very bad service.

Howard Agra is a really nice place, gives a premium feeling without paying much of a premium price. Even better is the location at which the place is located. One small suggestion/feedback would be to provide a towel near the bathroom entrance to avoid room getting dirty.
We were even allowed to keep luggage in the cloak room and collect them after around 5 hours. Special thanks to Rashi, Guest Relation Manager for handling us with care.

Will be visiting again.

Swapnil.

This hotel was probably the most luxuous hotel during our trip but also the most impersonal. The rooms are large, clean. The staff is friendly. The restaurant situated on the last floor offers good, tasty food but we came in rather late and felt a little bit alone in that big restaurant (3 or 4 other tables). The restaurant on ground floor is more crowded but is reserved to those who have their dinner included in a package price.
The location is perfect to reach the Taj Mahal in no time.

The hotel building is quite big and in a nice location in Fatehabad Road. Its near to the eastern gate side of Taj Mahal. Outside of the hotel building is quite specious unlike some other big hotels. A number of vehicles also can be parked within the hotel premises. Inside the hotel building also, lots of spaces are there.

First of all, the hotel building looks tired and jaded and not maintained properly. The painting of the building was peeling off the wall. Sometimes foul smell comes out of the room. Hot water was not available at late evening hours. Rooms were, of course, quite specious. In fact, after putting an additional bed in the room, still, there were no space constraint. Room furniture were quite good. There were reasonable toiletries in the hotel room. I feel elated when I found a bathtub in the washroom.

But the staffs are the main strength of the hotel. Right upon arrival in the hotel, they offered us welcome drink. Reception staffs were very helpful The have gone out of their way to offer some discounts in the hotel restaurant. Check in and check out were really fast. Food in the hotel was really tasty be it breakfast or any other major meal. The cost of the meal were also not high, in fact, they are same as food available in outside restaurants.
The room tariff were quite reasonable taking into account the hotel's location and the facilities it offers.
Lastly, the hotel really gave me my money's worth.

We stayed two nights and that was plenty. The room itself was OK, but the bathrooms are desperately in need of refurbishment. The taps and showerhead were badly pitted and rusty and the grout and silicone around the bath was dirty. It wasn't pleasant at all. I did express my concerns to the hotel staff but no comments were made and nothing was done. The buffet breakfast was very busy and they didn't seem to have enough crockery or cutlery for everyone - it was almost like you were waiting for the dishwasher in the kitchen to finish so that you could have something to eat off. The staff were nice and friendly enough once you got their attention and they stopped talking to their friends.

The windows are not double glazed so the road noise outside WILL affect your sleep so you need to take some ear plugs if you plan on getting any sleep at all.

It is very handy for the Taj Mahal - less than 5 mins away, so if you are seeing the Taj Mahal at sunrise you can sneek a few extra minutes in bed!

I believe use of pool is restricted to hotel occupants only. Haven’t asked though but I guess their spa may be used by hotel guests for a fee. You can probably try calling the hotel front desk to confirm. Thanks.

Yes they do have buggy service up to the security check point . Beyond the front arch to the Taj Mahal is by foot though. But it’s a manageable distance especially for the awesome Taj Mahal view .
