Wah Taj! The first statement that comes in mind when you are visiting the mausoleum Taj Mahal and staying at Taj Hotel & Convention, Agra. We enjoyed the bath-tub rooms as we travelled with kids. Stayed on floor 3. The stay & dining experience was hassle-free, nothing specific to add here. It could have been better though. The surprise complimentary cake did not reach our dining table, instead at the end, we had to carry the open cake ourselves to the room and then wait for all cutlery & candles. Not the celebration that I had planned since almost 3 weeks ago. The swimming pool were operational, but each time on email I was specifically informed that pool would be unoperational. My girls were quite disappointed because we did not bring our swimming costumes. And this is when I had specifically asked for Spa & swimming pool rules during our stay at the preset. Reservation for the hotel was not hassle free though. Quite difficult to get reservation desk to respond back- days actually, unlike Taj Hotels. We were celebrating my husband's birthday (surprise vacation for my husband till a day before) during our weekend stay & there were few things committed at reservation, like room decor and baked goods for marking the celebration. Nothing was done, quite disappointing. We have been to many IHCL hotels, the service there has always been impeccable. And this hotel is where, we had stayed 6 years ago as well, but then it was under another management, Raddison. Travel desk assistance was also too delayed and not very pleasant. An outsider was allowed to us for Night Viewing tickets booking for my family. The person charged us 1200/- extra over 2020/-(the actual tickets cost) in lieu of service charges for "his service" and there was no bill included in checkout for the same or given to us by that person, Mr Deepak Parashar. Only at check out we realised that the travel assistant was not an employee of IHCL when the person's details were forwarded only by the hotel to myself. I feel so cheated here. Never ever I had such experience at any Vivanta or Taj hotels in my life. Another dissatisfaction was reaching the hotel at the time of arrival. The location and Google Map location was way different. No one from hotel assisted us and we were stuck in the narrorw bylanes of Taj Ganj in our big sedan. It took us more than 40 minutes because the Google Map pin has not been rectified by the hotel management. It was Mr Deepak who informed us at the last minute that there shall be a trouble if we are following the app directions. Hotel had no boards or directions anywhere else, not even on the website. So we reached extremely tired around 8:30 pm when our scheduled time was 7:30 pm when we started for our journey. Calling at hotel's landline reception numbers was always futile from reservation time to arrival time. So couldn't ask for instant directions guidelines or travel assistance on phone ever from the hotel employees. The best part of our stay was the hospitality for room & dining area services. Miss Charu, if I am not wrong in recollecting at the guest services was quite friendly and amiable to assist us throughout our stay. The manager at Infiny- some agile tall Muslim gentleman (not able to recall his name)- too was a gem in your staff at infinity. We value the contributions of these two people to make our stay remarkable in their service areas. The bath tub water supply though was unsatisfactory- almost urine yellow colour. We did complain on the day of our check-out because that's when the problem occurred. But then, we din't stay to check if that was rectified or not. I booked this hotel in Agra, not just because of being a TIC member, but bcz IHCL has not disappointed me this much ever. We even stayed at Vivanta Pune during covid curfews earlier this year. They did their best during all such safety restrictions and protocols. Would have appreciated an impeccable surprise birthday celebration of my husband.…
