Private quiet hotel for relaxation. I visit with my Husband (who has a different last name to me for professional reasons - I’ve built my career around my maiden name so retained it - I can see why this may be confusing but it does seem to result in me being named Mr Firth frequently) We’re now in our late 30s and prefer a quiet holiday.

We’ve visited this hotel I think 3 times now, all in the ‘executive suites’ which is essentially a very nice bedroom with large bed adjoined to a living area with a dining area. The sofa isn’t comfy and we don’t use this area to be honest. There’s a large bathroom with shower and bath with a separate bathroom stall.

The outside is what makes this room, there’s a small table with 2 chairs in a wrap around area of the bedroom opening into a small courtyard with a small dipping pool. The rooms overlook either the golf course or the ocean depending on which side you are on. There are 2 sunbeds in the courtyard. Watching the sunset over the desert each day is delightful.

The bar is pleasant enough inside - quite classy - although it is very loud and enclosed at night - but there is plenty of outdoor space to sit and have a drink.

The drinks are fine for all inclusive quality although they have declined in quality over the 3 stays (I think we started visiting in late 2019 and our last stay was Feb 2022 - we’ve booked to go again in around a month so we’ll see if this has improved again). The ‘local’ evening entertainment (?Dervish) is great. The British stuff not so much. Again I’m sure there are Egyptian classical musicians that would be excellent.

Whilst pleasant we do find the food very boring in general here. The best bits are the breads and salads. The clientele that visit here generally are 60-80 year old brits and Germans who I imagine aren’t adventurous with food which is probably the reason for this. I imagine my parents in their late 70s would think it superb.

It’s all very fresh and nice quality and there are a few ‘a la carte’ items cooked fresh each evening. We really enjoy eating something different on holiday as we don’t really each British food in the UK.

I’d love Egyptian/middle eastern food being served here. I suppose a mainly British all inclusive isn’t the place to have local cuisine but it would step this place up a level. There was no spice at all available. I used all the chilli multiple times from the custom stations and was still lacking. I wouldn’t go hungry but least I didn’t overeat.

The lunch by the pool was very pleasant and the schwarma with chilli sauce was very tasty. Limited menu but what is there is arguably better than the evening offerings. Good salads and breads.

We didn’t use the pool ourselves but the area is clean and pleasant.

Things to make this hotel even better

1. Room service - this resort has a bountiful supply of executive suites with dining areas and tables but no food can be delivered to the room. Add a room service option and this hotel would immediately be on another level.

2. General maintenance of rooms. The tiles in the dipping pools are often falling off and sharp. Not a big deal for me, I’ll just be careful but it does take away from the luxury feel of the resort. The bath sun the rooms often shift as they aren’t perfectly secured - again all just feels a bit rickety. Things like the lights in showers not having waterproof covers makes be worry about safety. The bathrooms often have a slightly drain smell. The cupboards in the bathroom usually have chipped lawyer and are very tired looking.

3. Food - see above comments. Very good for all inclusive and no concerns about cleanliness, I have never had any stomach bugs whilst being here. I would just prefer some more flavour in the food. Maybe it’s an age thing.

4. Ambience in the evening restaurant. I don’t know if it’s because they think the elderly clientele would trip over or not be able to see their food but it’s very strangely brightly lit in the main resurgent. Makes it feel like a canteen when it’s actually a very nice space. Some lower lighting in the seating area and some darker colours would make it feel much more like a restaurant.

In short. There’s not a much better place in terms of value for the size of the rooms and the privacy you get. Very relaxing, safe feeling hotel. Would be truely special with a few small additions/adjustments.

I picked this hotel due to its location on a golf course, its size being much smaller than others in the area and most importantly adults only. I was not disappointed and I am already planning a return trip for later in the year.

Room - We were in room 6302 looking onto the 18th green. The room was lovely, bed comfortable and had everything you would need. Only slight negative was that there was only one socket and you had to pay for some items in the mini bar as well as the snacks. There was a turndown service and you regularly got chocolates and gifts left by Mahmoud who done a great job making everything spotless.

Food - I couldn't fault this, breakfast was great with everything you would expect. You could also order eggs anyway you wanted. Lunch was at the pool bar you ordered from a menu which had salads, sandwiches, pizza, pasta, fish and chips chicken and burgers. Dinner was in the main restaurant and was buffet style with 3 specials that could be ordered with your waiter. Our waiter for our stay was Reda and he was just amazing. So friendly and helpful and couldn't do enough for you

The pool area was where we spent all of our day and all the staff there were just amazing. Yahia and Ahmed were so helpful setting up the beds and placing the towels for you and Soliman at the pool bar always made sure we had a drink and looked after us when having our lunch. Again like everyone here they are all so nice and friendly and are keen to make sure that you have everything you need and are having the best holiday. Kadoo does the daily entertainment trying to get people to do stretching, aqua aerobics or french boules but isn't pushy and is just as happy to stop and chat.

If the pool isnt for you there is a bus that goes to the beach, we only done this once. The service was great but the beach wasnt for us, really busy and the service wasnt anywhere near as good as at the pool.

Nights were spent in the bar where Hesham , Sami and Adel always made sure you had a drink and happily would suggest something if you struggled to find something on the extensive drinks menu. There was entertainment on every evening which was usually singing or dancing and on the whole was good.

I cant understand any of the negative comments regarding the food & drink selection or quality as I couldn't fault it. The only negative is that whilst there you are only entitled to one ala carte for the duration, anywhere else I have ever been this would be one per week.

Whilst here it was my husbands birthday and I asked reception if they could decorate the room which they did and also our table at dinner. This also happened to be the romantic dinner at the pool area. You can imagine my husbands delight when Soliman and the others brought out a birthday cake singing happy birthday to him.

The management are very visible and just as friendly and chatty as everyone else. Issac was great and even filmed my husband getting his birthday cake and sent us the video.

To sum up we had a great holiday and cant wait to return and sorry if I got any of the names wrong.

This is a well run hotel with great attention to detail.
Staff are attentive, respectful and always give a first class service.
Everything and everywhere is perfectly clean and fresh.

Our visit was late February early March and I was impressed by the warmth of the large pool.

Access to the beach and other restaurants was easy with a shuttle bus during the day and a buggy manned by staff to take you there and back in the evenings.

It has a very peaceful pool and terrace area with no loud music or annoying announcements.

While we were there all the sun loungers were replaced. The mattresses on them are thick supportive and comfortable.

The Spa staff are excellent. We had a course of 4 massages which were wonderful and a reasonable price.

This is our 4th visit and we have never had any problems. We intend to return next year.

We have just returned from Steigeberger having spent Christmas and New Year there. It was one of the best experiences and holidays we have had so far. The hospitality, service and friendliness is outstanding. We have already booked again for next Christmas.
We have felt very welcome. As the hotel is relatively small, it feels very intimate and cozy. At night there is live entertainment and most people get up to dance. Especially Christmas and New Year were great parties.
The food is delicious. Lots of choice and high quality. Especially the Christmas and New Year buffets were amazing. The desserts were stunning creations. Almost like art! A big thank you to the chefs (Antar, Emad, El Hussein) especially Mohamed, sous-chef, who provided great dinner, especially dessert recommendations and make each dinner special
The pool area is very well maintained by Yahia and his colleague. Yahia finds you the best place in the sun.

My wife and I recently stayed at the Steigenberger Makadi for 10 days our 2nd visit and it won’t be the last. I had a problem with my back to damaged discs and it got worse as the holiday progressed and I also have Parkinson’s as well.
If your going to have a problem this is the hotel to have one. They done everything possible and more to make our holiday memorable and went above and beyond with their help and assistance.
The manager Mr Ayman was superb he arranged crutches for me to get around the hotel and arranged a wheelchair at the airport to me us and got us through customs and onto the plane which would have not been possible for me, and also at Manchester right to my pick up in the car park.
Also, a big thank you to our room boy named Ahmed Abdula who kept the room clean and tidy and also looked after and made the most unusual towel designs I have seen most but not a big dog or a hanging monkey. The restaurant manager made me a personally a dessert and the waiters Redar and Nady were great fun, they work long hours but always very happy.
The pool restaurant was run by Sulliman another nice guy always there good at his job.
A great entertainment guy Kadou who done stretch exercise, aqua keep fit and French bowels all with a smile.
The hotel is very Health conscious every staff member had a mask and gloves, hand dispensers everywhere and also gloves for the guests to wear when serving themselves at the buffet.
All the staff were great just too many to mention.
A big thank you to you all.
Can’t wait to go back.

We really cannot complement this hotel and its staff enough, we had the most beautiful week in Egypt from the minute we entered this hotel to the minute we left.
we will single out a few members of staff but EVERYONE from the managers introducing themselves to the gardening staff waving everyday was amazing and unbelievably attentive.

This place truly deserves its 5 stars, Our room was cleaned and kept spotless with beautiful animals made with towels and flowers and minibar restocked with soft drinks (alcohol and snacks are charged) with beach towels swapped in the evenings (beach towels are free).

The food is easily of high quality restaurant standard from morning breakfast ( with an array of fresh bottled fruit juices), Lunch (which is a menu style and has varied choice from mixed grill. pastas, salads, pizzas and burgers etc) to evening meals which is a choice of very very high quality buffet style food or you can choose from the menu which is once again ala carte, I have been to restaurants and paid over the odds for dishes and not received food of this quality (shout out to chef George). I would just like to point out that for breakfast and lunch there is no real dress code but for the evening meal the dress code is SMART CASUAL so long trousers NO shorts or flip flops/sliders and short sleeve shirt or polo shirt is ok but NO t-shirts, which when we booked with TUI we were not told but was fine.

Alcoholic drinks are an excellent variety and the cocktails are fantastic, our favourite was the Makadi colada (shout out to Ronaldo..lol and Hassan) who knew our drinks after one night and would constantly top us up when they spotted our glasses were low and the entertainment was very stylish with singers that add to the relaxed chilled experience.

I could go on and on about this hotel but it is an absolute Jewel, most of the very friendly people who stayed at the Steigenberger were a little older than ourselves but that did not matter in the slightest as we were not looking for parties every night and animation teams shouting and screaming, so if you are looking for that atmosphere this is not the place for you but on the other hand if you want to relax and recharge your batteries this place is heaven.

Thankyou Steigenberger for an beautiful experience, Egypt is now our home away from home, we have been on many holidays and made a pact to never go back to the same places BUT we are already planning on revisiting the hotel such is the impact it had on us.

This is a small (98 rooms/suites) adults only boutique hotel set on a golf course surrounded by beautiful gardens. The standard is definitely 5 star. The Manager Mr Ayman and Denise from Guest Relations make sure everything is perfect for a relaxing holiday.
The dining experience is excellent from great breakfasts, freshly cooked to order lunches by Chef George and special evening dining experiences created by Chef Aimed and Chef Makmoud.
We particularly enjoyed the Cocktail making classes with Tysen, such a talent! Also the Chocolate making demonstration was delicious. The pool area is spotless and Yahia makes sure the pool is heated and fresh pool towels are available. Entertainment is varied from daily exercise classes to high standard musical groups in the evening organised by Kadou.
We were well looked after in the restaurant by Reda, and in the Bogey Bar by Adel, Naddy and Hosan. The hotel provides an hourly shuttle service to the private beach where drinks are served and lunch is available at a nearby restaurant. All in all the best hotel we have stayed at in Egypt and we have been visiting the Red Sea area for over 24 years.

There is good and bad. My last visit to Egypt June 2022 I stayed at the Baron Palace, it was amazing and worth every penny, so I had something to compare to. I tried the Steigenberger Makadi as I was travelling alone this time, room was spacious, so was bathroom, the shower and vanity units could do with updating, no propper wardrobe, just a hanging rail and there was a smell of drains I just closed the door so it did not come into the bedroom. The pool area was OK however as the day went on the pool loungers gathered up green algea and this was also around the edge of the pool, the grout in the pool looked grimey, I feel the pool lacked a cleaning regime and could be improved on. The buffet restaurant was OK, limited choice and not alot of variation, only 1 cooking station that did limited pasta, however the pasta bolognaise I had was delicious. There are other options for dinner but they are a bus ride away down by the beach as a person travelling alone, I did not feel I wanted to leave the hotel, so my choice of food was limited.
I am surprised this is a Tui Platinum as I feel it does not meet the usual grade, the Baron Palace, Hurghada is the same, Platinum but far exceeds the Steigenberger.
Mahamed who looked after my room was amazing, the staff work so hard and I tipped him well, he earned it.
I was on half board basis, so drinks and everything else had to be paid for, a glass of fresh orange was £5.50, this I felt was expensive, the small cartons in the mini bar were £5.50 and a wafer biscuit from the mini bar was £5.50, this costs them the equivilent 46 pence, rip off.
I asked for late check out, this had No food or drink included and I was quoted £55, i declined and showered in the pool showers, again grubby grout and needs a makeover, the Baron Palace was £26 for 2 of us and this was on an all inclusive basis.
I really hope others take note of these comments as they are based on fact only. I am sure you have worked out where I will be staying on my next visit, yes the Baron Palace, Hurghada.

Visited the Steigenberger Makadi in January 2023 as a last minute break after reading the reviews and wanting a small boutique style of hotel for a quiet rest ( less than 100 rooms) booked via TUI as a package as surprisingly this was the best priced option for the week i chose.
from the moment you arrive the staff go out of their way to make you feel like you have arrived home and are eager to help and make your stay comfortable , I didn't meet anyone who didn't appear to enjoy working there and the whole team are a credit to the management.
we had a 3rd floor sea facing room in the main block , which at this time of year attracts the morning sun and we would come back everyday to a well prepared room and a different piece of towel art .
breakfast and dinner is served in the main restaurant and you have a choice of buffet or a small menu which changed each evening , ample choices for everyone and we always found something that we enjoyed , lunch is served by the pool from a menu with salads , sandwiches , pizza etc , the chef was great and once he knew the hubby couldn't eat certain foods he prepared him ( and myself ) a meal each day thank you so much.
you have the option to 'dine around ' once during your stay and the booking process is easy , I was unable to attend my booking as i was poorly so Mahmoud at reception changed it for me to ensure i wasn't charged for a rebook - thank you ,
we visited the beach once and dined at the beach bar , no issues but we preferred the hotel grounds and pool area
thank you to everyone for making our stay a lovely restful break , so much so we are hoping to come back next month

Only the soft drinks and the water are included as part of all inclusive and it is replenished each night. We went to the Asian restaurant and it was lovely. Have a fab time, it’s an amazing hotel 😊

"If you like very hot weather just be careful because it reaches 40-45 degrees throughout the day and 30 at night. If you want a fine class experience tip the staff. "
