#5 of 36 hotels in Opatija
The new Hotel Royal was designed as the meeting point for lovers of games of intellect - chess, bridge, Sudoku and alike. The hotel is accessed through a small square called the Holiday Platz, which has been especially designed and paved. Next to it there is a French garden with plants of various shapes and sizes and lounge bar with an impressive view. The Hotel Royal is located right by the Lungomare coastal promenade. It has 54 luxury rooms and apartments that offer stunning views of Opatija's harbour and the entire Kvarner Bay. Next to the hotel reception there is the Royal Club Cafe complete with a library and comfortable sofas and tables to enjoy your favourite book or play popular board and logic games. On the lower floor of the hotel there is the Cafe Mahler, which was named after Julius Mahler, the first owner of the villa that stood on the spot of the present Hotel Royal. The cafe with its terrace is located right next to the Lungomare seaside promenade. Visitors can choose from a wide range of homemade cakes and desserts made at the Milenij Hotels. A beautiful view of the sea and the Lungomare promenade can also be enjoyed from the hotel's restaurant. We are proud to say that we use only fresh healthy ingredients from reputable sources to prepare our food, be it for breakfast, the a la carte lunch or dinner. The magnificent, fully equipped Royal Hall with its large glass walls seems to visually immerse into the sea. It exudes a particular ballroom elegance, and it is also ideal for hosting various corporate events, theatrical plays, concerts, gala dinners and wedding receptions. Depending on the seating arrangement the hall can accommodate up to 1,000 people.

Good afternoon everyone. First time I contribute to this site, but given the enormity of the situation, happy to share my unfortunate experience...Booked a sea view room in this hotel. On arrival, there is a building almost falling apart between our room and the sea ...what a view as you can imagine. Okay...if you really break your neck on the right, you can see part of the sea. When returning at reception to express my surprise, I am told that the hotel is full because of a wedding, still...not all wedding guests have arrived but no possibility to change room. What is even more surprising is to have to insist to find a solution. In any hotel pretending to be a 4+ star, staff is supposed to be proactive, not reactive...After a long conversation, the manager finds us a room in a nearby hotel (Grand) belonging to the same group, and cherry on the cake...once fully unpacked we receive a call from Royal telling us they finally have a room : a bit late isn't it...? But this is not over... Returning home I write a mail to their reservation department informing them that this is very close to a misrepresentation. Answer from reservation by email : "It is simply difficult sometimes to comply with all the wishes of the guests, especially in the heart of the summer season". So let me translate...It is difficult to deliver what you signed and paid for... Certainly the hotel will answer to this comment with the usual blablabla : we are very sorry to hear what happened...as it they did not know. Do they care ? Certainly not as they are full in the summer time, and good for them. On my side, I will favour smaller boutique hotels which did not forget what customer service is. Never again will I stay in the Amadria Park Group.

Room without wifi, told the reception twice and nobody solved the problem, they even said it was normal in this room, if it's normal, solve the problem! Or don't assign this room. but the problem does not stop here, room without curtains, there was a place to put but they were not there, light in the morning impossible to sleep. Furthermore, they “made the beds” and left no shampoo in the bathroom. To finish it's 1:30 A.M and there's a party going on on the ground floor, super loud music, icing on the cake.

I was there during a conference recently and I have to say that their customer service is amazing. Extremely polite staff, always happy to help, they've had great recommendations regarding restaurants etc. I managed to leave a dress at the hotel after checking out and only realized when I was in my hometown. I called the hotel immediately and a very helpful young gentleman was on it immediately, they found my dress and sent it via post to me. The room was wonderfully equipped. Two comfortable beds, beautifully decorated bathroom, amazing view from this cute balcony, coffee and tea (which was exactly what I needed!) and a nice, soft bathrobe with comfy slippers. Oh, I almost forgot... The breakfast buffet is AH-MAH-ZING! Everything from Turkish appetizers, to local prosciutto, eggs however you want them (they make them then and there for you), crepes, pancakes... you name it. I would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone visiting Opatija.

All rooms are completely refurbished, the hotel is right on the sea and breakfast buffet and service is great. Only thing that could be better is dinner buffet that doesn't have many options. All in all a great value for your money.
