I stayed here 3 nights with a friend and I have to say it was highly enjoyable. The breakfast was included each day and they had a great vegan option with the porridge (with almond milk and loads of fresh fruit). The staff were helpful, friendly and I enjoyed talking with them. Gaby and Sula (my apologies if I spelt her name wrong) were lovely, Sula was also helpful in finding me an empty room for an important video call I needed to make which lasted almost 4 hours, ¡gracias por su ayuda! The bedroom was fine, although the wifi was quite weak in that particular one (room 14).

The one thing I have to say which was annoying was that music was played every night we were there until about midnight. The music was good, but I think 10:30 is a more reasonable time as by 12 we were usually trying to sleep.

Other than that I enjoyed my stay and would come again no problem.

We stayed here as a couple for one night before our trek to Ciudad Perdida. This hostel felt more like a luxurious hostel, especially with its decor and facilities, and so it is a bit pricier compared to other hostels. The staff were friendly and professional. Breakfast was also very delicious. Our double bed room with an ensuite bathroom was very spacious. The bed was reasonably comfortable, but don't expect hotel style comfort. The only downside was that there was only one power outlet in the room.

Really nice hostel. Nice rooms, polite and friendly staff where almost everyone speaks English. Good rooftop bar, good activities at the hostel, good service, good pool. When the aircon was too cold they where Quick to come and turn it up.

The fan and the air conditioning (which was not possible to turn off) in my room was extremely loud. Felt like I'm sleeping with a diesel generator next to my head and of course I couldn't sleep all night. Someone in the room told me that he stayed there before and it was the same, so the hostel must be aware of this, yet it continues cashing in on that room. It's like renting a bike knowing that it has a flat tire. Because this the most expensive hostel in town, I find it very upsetting, especially for the night of lost sleep. Also, the room is very dark and the bathroom continuously smells like feces, because of the ventilation shaft.

I own a tour agency and was interested in having my group stay there. Before reserving for my group, I decided to stay there for a night. I made a reservation and the person assisting me said in order for me to confirm the reservation, I had to pay a deposit. I agreed and told them to send me a payment link. I never received the link and not a word from the assistant. I checked out the hostel and decided not to reserve it for my group because it is too much of a party atmosphere for what I'm looking for and left the hostel assuming my reservation was cancelled because I never made a payment. The day after, the reservation desk wrote me saying I had to pay for the room that I never stayed in because I had "reserved" the room. How incredibly unprofessional!

Underwhelming. We stayed in the ground level room by the laundry. We had no hot water for our stay and had to put up with the sound of a water pump/filter going on and off through the night. Wifi in our room was also very limited. The free breakfast only came with coffee (had to pay for water or juice). Staff not overly responsive, told us that we needed to run the water for 5-10min ( which we had the first day taking cold showers after returning from Tyron’s) we had booked directly and have not had any feedback to my review directly with this hotel/hostel

Free cancellation was not honoured. We had to delay our trip and so in advance tried to cancel, which as per their policy should have meant no charge. They did not respond to multiple attempts of contact via email and message, and charge for the stay.

This Hostel just got everything I needed. I stayed there for 10 days, that long just because I have been there 2 nights 3 weeks before already.

Additional to the nice bar on the roof, there is a kitchen to use for everybody (as well on the rooftop). This could be equipped better, but that’s really the only critic I can give. The Masaya Santa Marta has awesome areas to chill and relax - so it’s possible to meet people and party a bit as well as just read a book in the hammock for yourself.
They even have a co-working space and good internet.
And last but not least, the amazing stuff. Seriously all of them, especially the cleaning lady’s Dianis, Blanca and Caterin.

Thank you so much, you made my stay ❤️

Cabo San Juan is in the park, you cannot be picked up from the beach by car, you have to walk back out to main Tayrona gates. From there you could call taxi, or take delux shuttle, but the basic bus is only $7000 and drops off at market which is only a few blocks from Masaya (very walkable).

Good Morning, Masaya Hostel is near of the Marina of Santa Marta but we don't advise you to swim there. But, we are 30 minutes away by bus to several beautiful beaches where you can swim, do snorkeling and have nice and safety long walks. The coast of a taxi from the Santa Marta airport is of $25.000. Only our Deluxe private rooms offer refrigerator, TV and aircon, which have a coast of $150.000. The entire team is waiting for you.

Hello Raquel, I'm the manager of Masaya. As Nickolas told you (thanks man), in Masaya we have a no noise policy after 10pm. Masaya is not a "party hotel", we want to bring in our hostels cultural activities and cultural events. But every event stops before 10PM and music sound is lower. Rooms from 1 to 6 are Deluxe Double room where you are on the ground floor, these are the least noisy as the terrace is on the rooftop. The standard Double rooms are on the 1st floor, but they are not really noisy either. If you want more information, don't hesitate to contact the hostel (our website is masaya-experience . com) I hope you'll come to see us !
