This complete resort is located on the shores of one of the most tranquil beaches bordering the majestic Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, with more than 200 meters of coastal property, villas, a convention center and an enormous tower with privileged views of the Caribbean Sea. The property is located 20 minutes from Santa Marta, one of the oldest cities of America, known as the ‘Most beautiful bay of the continent’, as a result of the exuberant post card that combines a coastal area and a mountain range 5,775 meters above sea level, making it the tallest mountainous littoral formation in the world. From our resort you will be able to visit this tourism area’s main attractions, such as the historic and cultural center of Santa Marta, the ‘Quinta de San Pedro Alejandrino’, final resting place of Simon Bolivar, and the Aquarium and Sea Museum that house diverse marine fauna specimens and host dolphin shows. Due to Coronavirus (COVID-19), this property is taking steps to help protect the safety of guests and staff. Certain services and amenities may be reduced or unavailable as a result.

It is a clean place and restaurant staff is very helpful and friendly. However, reception peolpe are not that nice, and they are very slow to do their job. Now, you have to pay anticipated use fee even if you get to the hotel 1 hour before 3pm. Rooms were ready by 4 o'clock and there is not any kind of awareness from staff if you get with elderly people. Our rooms did not have TV signal.

Average place. It has very old facilities.
They gave me a room in the main tower and it was very small and dirty, however the view of the beach was great.

If you want a comfortable room, you should ask for the villas. They look a little bit more modern.

Drinks and food menu is pretty much the same everyday. They definitely need some variation.

This property self-advertises as three stars, which is about right.

The main building could use a facelift; some of the window AC units sound like they’re in their death throes; the advertised in-room hair dryer was nonexistent, and try getting Guest Services to answer the phone after 6 p.m.

Bring your own shampoo and washcloths.

The value of this hotel and its above-average room count attract lots of package and corporate tours that keep the joint jumping even during the off-season, so don’t plan on solitude or lots of quiet.

Also be aware that there’s practically nothing within walking distance. El Rodadero and Santa Marta are 15-20 minutes away by taxi ($5 each way), which the staff will be happy to summon for you.

However, there’s lots of healthy food and drink (and far easier to get refills than on your average cruise), decent service, good staff-to-guest ratio, attentive security, and free airport transportation.

And the No. 1 attraction – this property occupies a spectacular stretch of beach. The beach's swimming area has a lifeguard on duty, is protected by buoys, and is tranquil and free from dangerous currents.

Though it's the Caribbean, this portion of the coastline faces west, making for a fine sunset. The staff is careful to constantly be carrying away trash, because a few forlorn stray dogs do occasionally wander in.

Decameron hotel in Santa Marta (to the outskirts) was an incredible place that I can go many times and repeat the experience. I went 2 times every two years. I like because you have many activities to do, if you go to the pool you find people doing activities, if you go to the beach, because the hotel have a private beach yo can see people dance, playing volleyball, if you can do activities in the sea the people give to you many tools to do, and the best is that you pay before. And all the food, the sweets, the drink and burger stall is unlimited. Also in the night you can go to the beach with your family and see different shows every night. I think that this hotel have activities for all kind of edges, for those and more reasons I considered it is complete hotel.

I recommend Santa Marta because it is a good place to have a relaxing vacation. My family and I went to this place 6 years ago, we stayed in Decameron Hotel and we enjoyed the commodities that it offered. I could eat international food for the first time and swim in the sea.

The service was excellent in the hotel because the people were kind with us. There were many activities to do there: you can go to the beach, you can practice different sports and you can go shopping.

Of course, I would like to go there again and enjoy a lot.

This is the worst experience I've ever had with a hotel. The worst policies and customer service ever. Have no regard for their costumers and all they care about is the money. For being tourists they were charging us $101 DOLLARS for the transportation from the airport to the hotel, but if we had booked it from within Colombia it would have been $35 dollars. That's just a small example of how much they want to rip people off. We had a reservation for 2021 and couldn't go because of COVID, they didnt care and still charged us for to make the change in the reservation, I had to take them up to the ministry of tourism for them to even give me (a group of 8) and extension. Dont bother by going here.

Don't come, looks like quarentine is not over. We arrived early in the morning and they left us at the convention centre, we are not allowed to go to the hotel until 2 pm. We are willing to pay a fee to be able enjoy the hotel but not possible. Not preview warning.

I was in Hotel Decameron Galeon, 1 year ago celebrating our anniversary with my wife, It was unforgettable. I remember there were a beautiful pools, garden with water source and a restaurant with delicious lunch, dinner and breakfast. There was a bedroom decorated. The attention was excellent and the bed very comfortable. There was gym where can practice exercise. There were beautiful sea and beach, where can practice soccer beach, volleiball and swimming. In the night, they have show in vivo and I danced with my wife. I want to enjoy the hotel again and relive the beautiful moments lived.

When my girlfriend and I got this "all inclusive" hotel, we discovered that it wasn't all inclusive at all. They charged us extra for the safe, a daily fee of $6.00, which I agree, is a low amount, but still felt ridiculous and inconvenient given their "All inclusive" advertisement. If we wanted internet service, that was another $6.00 for 30 min and it only worked at the lobby. When we got there it was already passed lunch time, we asked where we could get some food, we had been traveling from city to city that morning without any time to eat, we were told we had to wait until 8:30 pm for dinner, and this was around 3 pm. We had to carry our own bags up a little hill so the bellboy could put them in the elevator. The maintenance crew was working on one of the elevators every day during our stay there and the noise started really early every morning. The elevators were so small that only 5 people could fit, and even though we were on the 10th floor we still avoided them for being overcrowded every time. The room we stayed in was dirty as if no one had ever cleaned them since the hotel was built. There was sand and hair between the covers and the sheets were stained, no light in the bathroom and the water in the room looked like it was coming out of a puddle. There was no minifridge in the room and they wouldn't let us take any drinks from the restaurants, unless we bought them at the store in the lobby, something else not included. They didn't have 24 hours service even though this hotel is in the middle of nowhere and there is no other place you can go to get any service near by. The dinner reservations were made at the lobby, the girl was rude with extra sarcastic on the side, almost like every other girl at the front desk. When we showed up for dinner the first night, we were told we had to share our table with other guests since the girl making the reservations didn't put us down for a table for 2. After politely declining to share a dinner table with strangers, the host yelled at us, in an effort to make it clear for the other guests as well, that if we didn't like sharing, to then say so at the reservation desk next time. We did just that the following day at the reservation desk, and the girl said that there was nothing she could do, that we had to let the host know of our preferences. That night another guest went off at the host, the guy was just plain rude with everyone. The food was not good, lunch was buffet style but dinner was a la carte and in small portions, we were hungry every night. There were promoters chasing people down at every corner all day long, trying to sell packages for the next Decameron experience. It got to a point where they got annoying, they would interrupt conversations/dinner so just they could convince you into buying your next vacation. It was border line harassment and the hotel let them bother the guests, we had to hide from them and literally run away when they got close. We finally decided to end our suffering and pay an extra $200.00 to change our flights a day sooner. We didn't even try to get a refund for leaving early and every night was over $200.00. Nedless to say, we DO NOT recommend this hotel to anybody and won't ever come back to this hell whole. They should take the Decameron name down, they are making all other Decameron's look bad, specially Decameron Isleño in San Andres, Colombia, where they make you feel like you own the place.

yes, but you have to make reservations at the restaurants at 6:00 a.m., which I consider a very bad service.
