I spent 2 weeks in February 2013 at this hotel. It was a relief to get away form the Cartagena scene. Cartagena was engulfed with young Europeans. The restaurants and lodgings houses were filled with foreign tourists. In Rodadero, was geared towards the Columbian tourists which I prefer. I miss booked at a lower rate and the front desk went out of there way to get the low rate for me. Deimer Barraza who worked the front desk was excellent as were the others. I hope his new motorcycle is working well. Do get an interior room if noise bothers you. The Chuchoo bar across the street is allot of fun and plays loud Colombian music till late at night. The food at night could vary in quality. The included breakfast was five star for me. Basically very well set up with excellent fruits and typical eggs and meat affair. Celina went out of her to make this solo traveler feel comfortable. She was the boss and very professional. They used good table ware-no plastic here. They would also serve excellent coffee to your table and of course do refills. The wifi was good. The room had a king bed with 5 very nice pillows. Small fridge with condiments. Bathroom was tiled with a very nice glass shower-no bath. The maids make up your room in the afternoon if you were staying longer . I would try to tell them in the morning if they were on my floor to do my room while I was gone in the morning. They were always excellent. There was no card in the room where one could put on the door asking for service or not. I wish the hotel had these cards. The walls could be a bit more sound proof-but too late now. All in all my room was very pleasant. If you want to see a youtube movie type in Chucho bar in Santa Marta Rodadero you will see it can be noisy. Lots of eateries in town that are not too expensive.

I recently spent the night at this hotel on a business trip to Santa Marta. Defenetly not a good experience.
Firts, the hotel is located in one of the busiest streets of El Rodadero tourist district. If you don get an interior room, you will not be able to sleep until 2 in the morning.
Second, the bed and pillows are truly uncomfortable: the bed too soft and pillows too high.
There are newest hotels in downtown Santa Marta.
Do not stay at this hotel.

My SO and I spent a couple of nights at the hotel "Arhuaco" last January. Our experience regarding the quality of the service provided by the staff, the location and value was great!!.
There were a couple of things that I would like to mention in this review. The first one is location. It’s a fact, location, location, location. The hotel is located in the area call “El Rodadero” This area is a 20 minutes away from the airport. The taxi fare from the airport to El Rodadero is around $15,000 COP. The hotel is located one block from the beach, which made it perfect for those moments when you are at the beach and you need to go to the bathroom but you don’t want to use a public potty. There are a lot of restaurants, small supermarkets, pharmacies, ATM machines, bars and souvenir shops in the same street as the hotel. But sadly, location could be a double bladed knife, which brings me to the second thing that I want to mention, “Noise”. Because the hotel is located on a main strip there is a lot of noise around the hotel. Therefore, the rooms which face the main strip are not soundproofed and the level of noise that you can hear at night coming from the street could be very overwhelming, particularly the noise that comes from a bar which is right in front of the hotel.
When we checked in, we were given room #316, this was a large room, with 2 double beds, LCD TV screen, small refrigerator with some drinks and snacks in it, AC and a big bathroom with hot water, hair drier and some toiletries which you need to pay for them if you use them. I noticed that the bathroom was in need of a facelift (not a big deal). The room has a balcony and it faced the main strip. Around 3:00 AM in the morning, we had to request a change of room because we couldn’t handle anymore the noise coming from the bar across the street. Unfortunately, bars in Santa Marta closed at 4:00 AM so we had to hear the noise from 8:00 Pm until 4:00 AM. Sadly, the rooms are not soundproof; therefore it felt like we were trying to sleep inside the bar. When we made the request to change rooms, the staff at the front desk, submitted our request and she said that they have some inside rooms available but she apologized for not being able to make the change right away because there was no maid service at that hour and we won’t be able to change rooms. Keeping in consideration that we were awake and we couldn’t sleep, my SO and I, decided to take a stroll on the main strip.to our surprise, it was very safe to walk on the street at those early hours. Finally, the bar closed at 4:00 AM (that is the legal time for the bars to close) and we were able to go to sleep. Next morning, as soon as the woman at the front desk saw us, she told us that they have a room ready for us but it will be facing the parking lot. Honestly, we did not care, about the view so, we did the change. This time we moved to room #306 and it was perfect, clean, big and quite. So, if you are a light sleeper stay away from the rooms that are facing the main strip. The one problem was that the bed was a little uncomfortable because you can feel the springs while trying to sleep. Request the ones with a view of the pool or the parking lot. Anyway, views are not important here, you will spend most of the time away from the room.
Our issue with the noise brings me to my third point, “Service Level”. The service level provided by the staff at this hotel is GREAT!. Everybody from the bellboy, to the maids, to the waiters and waitresses and to the staff at the front desk offers a kind or service level that I have seeing only in a very few places. Every time that we asked for something, somebody was there to help us. The level of friendliness, courtesy and service is an A+++. One thing that you need to keep in mind is that they follow the Caribbean culture so things take a little while to get accomplished but they are so incredible nice that it makes the wait more pleasant.
While we were there, we booked a trip to “ El parque Tayrona” through their tour company. The tour was good and the service provided by their staff was good.
The only complaint that I have is regarding the hotel reservation center and their website. I started planning the trip to Santa Marta in mid-September 2010 and every time that I tried to contact their reservation center the person in charge was unresponsive. I tried to make the reservation through their website, but whoever designed it, it created the most unfriendly user website ever. I ended up doing my reservation through “Despegar.com” their services are A+ and their prices one of the best ones in the market.
So, to conclude this long review, if you book your next vacation at the hotel Arhuaco, you won’t be disappointed. Enjoy it!!

This place is in Aratoca, Santander. It is near to Bucaramanga. The weather is hot. I went in December of 2019. It was my first time.

There are ostriches, goats, and other farm animals. There are restaurants and stores. There is an sculpture of Independence of Colombia. There is a cableway.
You can walk around the location and enjoy the view to Cañón del Chicamocha. You can fly in the cableway from Aratoca to Mesa de los Santos. It is a wonderful experiece.

In the other side there ir an aquatic park. You can swim in the pool, you can play in the slide, you can play in the slow pool. In this place there are other restaurants for fast food. I wish to return soon to this beautiful place with mi family.

you can hear everybody talking outside your room. Elevator was very questionable. They tried to fixed it but it did not work. Hidden costs when you leave. Bad advice on tours to take. It is close to the beach, but turned off by vendors and crowd. Places near by are not near to the touristy places. Food was ok but not a true buffet. Service some days was decent other days was rude. Not a true 4 star hotel, with luck 2.5. Did not get what I paid for.

Check-in was OK. The desk clerk spoke English but demanded my passport. I showed her my cedula extranjera and explained that I am a Colombian resident and therefore do not travel in-country with my passport. She relented after 5 minutes of arguing. We took the elevator to our third floor room - the only time we used it in 5 days. It was small, slow and steaming hot. The first thing I noticed as we entered the room was "no curtains." There was a roll-up blind and curtain hardware, but no curtain. As I opened the closet door the handle came off in my hand. The TV was at a slight pitch, which I easily corrected, the point being there was no pride in ensuring the room was in order. The air conditioner rattled, but I fixed that as well. The bathroom fixtures were loose and the ceiling was warped, peeling and showing signs of mold. The internet connection showed 5 bars but was extremely slow and apparently not very secure. On day 2 I lost access to Facebook which I am still trying to resolve. Best guess is the hotel's system is hacked. The restaurant would be out of business if it's business were dependent on walk-in traffic. The food was barely edible - one dinner, pork chops I think - could not be cut with a knife. Breakfasts were minimal dinners were unimaginative and bland. The worst part of our stay was entering the reception area one afternoon, with three employees standing behind the counter and not one bothered to say hello or acknowledge our presence. This happened on more than one occasion and left us with the impression that they could care less about our business. I did mention this to the clerk who originally checked us in and we were acknowledged after that but by then the bad impression had been made. On a positive note, the gym was well equipped and functional. I did not however select the hotel for the gym. The pool looked nice but we never used it. Overall, I would keep my expectations very low to avoid disappointment. I will never voluntarily stay there again nor recommend it to anyone for whom I have respect.

When we arrived at Sol Arhuaco our internet reservation made on venere.com was not accepted, they said a double room would cost a lot more than the 90$/night we paid and they would have to charge us more. After about half an hour we finally managed to get our room for the price we booked on the internet (90$/night, which, for a country like Colombia is a lot of money!) and we got our room.

The valet was really nice showing us the room, but we did tell him it was dirty! He told us that he would call housekeeping immediately but it never got there. For the whole stay we had peanuts on the floor and other garbage from the previous guests!

Swimming pool was also dirty, probably cleaned less than once a week, full of leaves, sand and tons of hairs... very disgusting!

Also, things were always missing from the room, it seemed housekeeping kept forgetting basics such as soap and shampoo... and the room safe never worked.

Breakfast was ok for Colombian standards, but again, for the price we pay (mind you, Colombians get a VERY different price, and this was confirmed by some colombians friends I met there) we should get a lot more!

All in all I wouldn't recommend this hotel at all!

Where do I start...we came here for my dad's birthday. The lobby is nice but everything else isn't.
Cons:
The bathroom was a bit outdated and not very nice looking.
The threads from the blinds are coming loose
They only have ONE type of meal for you to pick from (for lunch or dinner) so if you're a vegan/vegetarian, I'm sorry. You can order from a menu but if you paid for lunch or dinner (with a package), you will have to pay if you order from the menu
The pool was dirty the first day we got here but they don't have much of a seating area.
We had toooo many problems with the TV not working
Our room faced the street so it was very loud at night
The food doesn't really have much flavor
There was a crack in the wall

Pros
The staff was very nice

Overall we really didn't enjoy our stay at this hotel. We were expecting a 4 star hotel experience but didn't get anything close to it.

Si hay casas de cambio. Te conviene ahí y no en el Aeropuerto ya que siempre te dan menos. No estuve exactamente en Santa Marta sino en el Rodadero, y te cambiaban hasta en locales comerciales.
