I really liked this place for the friendly atmosphere and the quality of the rooms and service for a great price.
The location is great, on a buzzing lively street facing onto a lovely park with flower stands. Inside the hotel it is bright and fresh and clean. The rooms are nice and quiet and so its a get get away either for business or tourism.
The roof terrace is a great place for a drink and to watch the sunset or the world go by ....

Clean and comfortable hotel.
The bedrooms we had the option to stay in had small windows really high up so no view and slightly claustrophobic.
WiFi was OK.
Location was safe and it is central.
The pool and roof top pool was the selling point, really good to have.
Breakfast was also fine.
Staff were really helpful and spoke some English.

Great location and really nice staff, which gladly helped with a variety of stuff during our stay. Breakfast is good too and the rooms are clean and neat.
We had four nights in this place separated by a trek to The Lost City, and they offered to store our big bags during our trip.

With some simple maintenance it could be so much better. Room 306, the window had slipped off its runners so the window panes rattled really badly, we shoved a towel in the gap to fix it. The door to the room scraped across the floor at one point on opening making a really loud noise which would surely disturb any neighbours if late at night, easy fix with a screwdriver to tighten hinges. Bathroom door squeeked really loudly, annoying if trying to be quiet in the night, easy fix, spray hinges. None of this demonstrates good ownership/management/care of the property and it shows elsewhere too. Breakfast was awful, cold egg and coffee as the restaurant opened, not good consudering the hawkers on the street can sell hot coffee all day long we went out for breakfast on day two so cost of night suddenly increased. Swimming pool only accommodates 3 at a time. Fairly decent location for quite stay. The comfy bed with soft pillow and duvet afforded a good night sleep and saved it from receiving 1 star, very friendly and helpful staff also helped.

So stayed here for 2 nights whilst in Santa Marta. On entering it had a friendly receptionist and a nice foyer, the room wasn't so good though.
Hinges on the door had dropped so it scraped the ground loudly, the light was just a light bulb in the wall. No hot water, toilet seat was broken, toilet door scrapped again. Only one double plug socket in the room, no bedside lamp. Really disappointed, breakfast was no better, cold coffee and eggs, ate breakfast out the next morning...
There is a pool only 3 people at a time though and the reception staff are lovely and friendly, but honestly better value elsewhere. I've given it 2 stars only because of the reception staff

To make a long story short:
- Filthy: the room hadn't been cleaned when we arrived: the bathroom was filthy (dry urine all over the toilet seat, faeces inside the toilet bowl), dirty sink, filthy shower; sheets hadn't been changed: full of hair and food crumbs.
- Day receptionist and cleaner did not care about the state of the room, all they did was vaguely clean the toilet.
- Day receptionist was extremely rude.
- Night receptionist gave us a new room (after suggesting I change the sheets myself).
- Breakfast was disgusting (old cereals with tepid milk) and served 45 minutes late (we had a bus to catch so really annoying).
- Extremely noisy hotel due to the bar next door (extremely loud music) and poor sound proofing (bad windows).
- Needless to say we cancelled our second night there
- I wrote an email to the manager afterwards to complain and she did apologize very much for the situation - the only positive thing about it alll.

We visited this hotel on the way back to Cartagena. It was a very clean and safe place to stay. The front desk receptionist, Diego, took care of us. Not only did he accommodate all the families we were traveling with. He made sure to give us great recommendations on food and what to do in the area. The rooms are very clean and spacious. This is a 4 floor complex and they do not have an elevator. So you will need to use the stairs, but do not worry about carrying your luggage they will do that for you. They personally take you to your room and make sure that it is fitting for you. Breakfast is included in your stay and they serve traditional food from the area. They took it to order and make it fresh for you. They also have in modern gym if you would like to work out during your stay. I will definitely be coming back to Hotel San Diego next time I'm in Santa Marta.

I stayed at this hotel for three nights in April and it was all good. The staff were on top of everything and were very friendly. The room was clean, the A/C worked, and the bathroom worked well. The wifi worked in the room which is always a plus. Breakfast is included and was as good as it gets at a hotel in this price range, ham and eggs with some fresh juice. The location is good within walking distance of anything you could want and only a few blocks from the nightlife. I would stay here again no doubt about it.

It's a quiet hotel, with clean rooms and A/C. We stayed only one night, heading from Minca to San Andres. It was very sweet of the staff that they prepared us a packed breakfast as we had a flight early in the morning. It's quite close to the beach and the marina.
