This place is run by a few generations of the same family. Fabio, Luz and the rest of the family go above and beyond to ensure that your stay is perfect and that you feel like family. They always have time to chat, even with my terrible Spanish, and they always made me feel like their home was my home.

The private single room I had was average but comfortable. My bathroom was down the hall which was a minor inconvenience. Other rooms with private bathrooms and TV are also available. On the third floor, there is also an outdoor courtyard with hammocks and tables to relax.

And the place was constantly being cleaned. I am sure that my bathroom had been cleaned 3 times a day.

The location is fantastic. Two blocks from the beach and in close vicinity to many restaurants and bars.

WiFi was not available everywhere but certainly on the main and second floors but not on the third floor courtyard.

I would NOT recommend this place for people who do not like children. The grandchildren are often around and are absolutely adorable. They can be noisy at times and although not a problem for me, others may take issue.

I would recommend this place for people who can tolerate basic accomodations in exchange for the experience of being part of a very warm and loving family.

One more thing, I was in Santa Marta for 3 days and nights. The city is very safe in the daytime and for two evenings, I felt safe wandering around the dark streets by myself. However, on the Wednesday evening I was there, it seemed the entire city was drunk. On many streets, I had to push away extremely drunk men and agressive prostitutes. I asked the night watchman about this and he said it happens all the time. It only happened 2 of the 3 nights I was there but just be aware of it.

A very central hostel close to la Plaza Bolivar in Santa Marta. Small but clean room, TV was fine, friendly staff. The wifi was slow in the room but okay.
The terrace is great, big and with a hammock. Overall we had a good stay and the staff helped us to plan our way to Cartagena for the next day.

It is a very good Price Vs Quality place. Rooms are clean, the staff is very friendly and willing to help. The rooms are not very spetial but they are ok, no surprises, no bed bugs, no problems with the water. The kitchen is nice and well equipped although a bit small for the size of the place. Wi-fi is decent but it only works in the ground level, thats not to much of a problem as they have tables, chairs and even some sofas for you to go with your device and even a couple of laptops you can borrow if you need to use internet.

The place has a huge terrace in the 2nd floor with hammocks, tables, toilets, a boxing bag and a crazy dog. Ideal to have some Rum and hang around with friends in a chilled way, as long as the winds allow it.

Actually, this is not a bad hotel. A bit expensive for the small room with hard bed that you get, but it's clean and the terrace is a nice place to chill, especially when you just return from the Ciudad Perdida tour as we did.
The laundry service however was extremely expensive and then it happened, when we were chilling out on the terrace in the hammocks, the owner came upstairs, commanded his dogs behind the fence (they were in the heat all day!!!) and when the dog didn't listen right away (the dog was so affraid and crawling away from him) he kicked the dog, he hit the dog with a stick, not once, not twice, but more than ten times. The dog cried in agony and tried to get away.

In the meantime we got up to protest to this mercyless kicking of this sweet dog, but he laughed and said something like "yes but he doesn't listen" and continued to kick the dog.

Five minutes later we grabbed our bags and left this hotel. We don't want to sleep in a place where the (very religious) owner thinks that animals are not the creation of god and thinks he can treat them this way. Shame on him!

If you want to stay here, fine, but I need to share this with as much people as possible.

This is too expensive for the service they offer. The bed is thin, sheets too shorts...

We had a private bathroom, but for an hour when we arrived, no water! We had our hands full of soap but no more water...

The terrace in nice and it's well situated in that city.

The city itself if dull and there is not that much to do: beach and water dirty dirty dirty...

Go to taganga instead.

We paid 60000 COP/night for a basic double bedroom a fan, bathroom, and outside facing window. The rooms were very small with barely enough room for our backpacks, the bed was very narrow for two people, the bathroom was cramped, and there were no hooks on the walls. Breakfast not included. Unsure of there is shared kitchen space.

The windows have no screens, nor is there a mosquito net, so beware of bugs and mosquitos getting in at night. There is also an opening above the door, so you'll be able to hear everything in the hallway.

No hot water in the shower, but you won't need it.

We didn't have air conditioning in our room and only a ceiling fan.
The toilet was really crowded.
Internet only at the reception, although promised otherwise.
Water ran out in the morning so we couldn't shower or brush our teeth.
Staff were nice and they had a cool kitchen although it was infested with rats.

- beds are stiff
- it's not welcoming

Santa Marta is not a touristic city, i advise people to go to Taganga Which is better and cooler in order to enjoy the Tayrona Parc

My boyfriend and I stayed at this Hostel for 2 nights. The room was comfortable and they have a nice hammock area on the roof where you can relax. The staff was very friendly and helpful. A lot of travelers head to Tayronna from Santa Marta for a few nights then return to Santa Marta. If you have a large bag they will lock it up for you in the closet until you return so you don't have to haul it around with you. There is also an excellent restaurant right across the street. If you eat there tell Charlie that Anna and Jared say hi, and can now pronounce "para llavar." When we returned to Santa Marta from Tayronna we spend another two nights here and were once again pleased with the service and the room. It is also very close to the beach and the price is very cheap.

I was extremely disappointed with my stay at this hostel. Our room was ok, extremely basic. The single beds were tiny in our twin room. The staff were not very helpful and overcharged us by one night citing that we had an early check in, even though charging a full extra night wasn't agreed. Check in is apparently 8am and we arrived at 6am. We really wish they could have told us that they were going to do this at the time, we are in a budget and would have waited the 2 hours.

"We stayed in a room that had a window that opened up onto the roof. One night a couple of people were sitting and chatting on the hammocks which was a little disturbing to us because we are light sleepers. If you want complete quiet request a room in the back."
