The property is amazing. With beautiful vista's of the ocean, modern and beautiful accommodation. This Marriott property is user friendly and modern.
The lobby is welcoming ans provides adequate seating as well as privacy for conversations etc.
The key cards have the security feature which allow only the exact flow to be selected on the elevator.
The housekeeping section is just a little behind as small details should be improved. My bathroom facial tissue was depleted two days ago, but was never replenished. I also had to call twice for towel replacement.
Dining options are adequate as well.

Posted a review some months ago and we’re just returning from a brief vacation there.

In a nutshell, if you’re still thinking about your plans for Easter Week Semana Santa, and you would like to travel, don’t hesitate and come here! Amazing place, great weather and amazing personnel!!

An important word of caution: follow the news closely because the city can publish new decrees, all the hotels must comply with, not their fault, that can impact your vacation experience, e.g. beaches opening hours.

The Spa is now open. My daughter LOVED her 80 minutes treatment. Gym is also working in perfect order. Everything is done following very strict health protocols.

They have Saturday night theme dinners (Spain during our weekend - delicious) with live local talent - music and dancers, very nice evening. Reasonable prices.

Sunday brunch has been added too. Lots of variety in food, fruits, salad, breads, the works. Plus Gin and bubbles. All you can eat/drink. Perfect Sunday afternoon.

Excellent keeping of the rooms, the amenities and all of the public areas.

I guess that the key point that I’m trying to convey here is: I do admire the people that independently of the adverse circumstances, is always trying their best and looking for alternatives to provide value added experiences.

Hats 🎩 off to the GM, Rooms Manager, Guest Relations Manager, all of the Leadership Team and particularly the hard working people, but always with a Caribbean smile, that makes this place a great place.

I will keep coming back.

This is a luxury hotel that is right on the beach, not sure why it is ranked so low. Facilities are awesome with a nice sized pool and own private area of the beach, that is probably the best beach I've been to in Colombia. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. Restaurants are awesome with great service and delicious food. Breakfast is also the best I've had in Colombia and can compete with luxury hotels anywhere with made to order eggs/omelets and a bountiful buffet. As others have mentioned certain Marriott level will get you free breakfast plus one guest and your kids. Two downfalls I would note are that there were a couple minor maintenance issues (like you can't drain the beautiful jacuzzi on the balcony with the drain, you have to under the whirlpool and open the pipe, guess it's small price to pay). Also, hotel is not within walking distance of any restaurants or shops, hence unless you taxi it you're stuck on this beautiful resort :). There is a small store that serves the next apartment building that one can easily walk to for a few basic items.

Staying here now and I have to say I had high hopes, how disappointing to say this really falls short for a 5 star Marriott. We are titanium elite members, however, this means nothing at this hotel.
We had an ocean view suite With a whirlpool jacuzzi on the balcony, sadly it was filthy on arrival (see photos)and we had to request it to be cleaned, once clean we noticed that half the jets don’t work, nor did the lights. We had a beautiful view of the ocean and the balcony was large with 2 chairs and 2 loungers. Wardrobe space was very good and the bed comfortable. Whist the hotel is next to the airport and on the flight path it doesn’t really bother you as there se double thickness doors to the balcony from your room. Pray you are not on floor 3 if there is an event going on as the event rooms are on the 2nd floor and we may as well have had the band in our room, it was so bad last night that we had to request another room to sleep in!
The beach area isn’t particularly pleasant, there are no loungers , just cheap plastic chairs and a plastic table with parasol - certainly not 5 star. There are loungers round the pool, there are also a few cabanas, sadly you have to pay a fee to use these, which is disappointing when you are paying a premium for a 5 star facility! The pool is absolutely freezing as it is blocked from the sun so very difficult to enjoy, the sea is warmer.
It is very difficult to make yourself understood with staff as none of them speak English and my Spanish is terrible, I do understand though that we are in a Spanish speaking country and we should not expect everyone to speak our own language. The restaurant is mediocre at the very least and all the staff really do need training in hospitality as the service is very hit and miss. Menus are also out of date as the prices on the menu do not reflect the prices charged - we kept being told that there was a tax added, however, nowhere on the menu is this tax mentioned nor the percentage of the net cost of the bill which makes you think that you’re being deceived in some way.
The hotel is supposed to offer a turndown service but this is not the case, I was categorically told that this service is not available at this hotel, if this is truly the case then Marriott need to amend the hotels description page accordingly. All in all it seems that the staff want to do as little work as possible, it could be a great stay with the right training of staff.

I travel a lot for my job and this is one of the best hotels that i have stayed. I"m platinum elite with Marriott so i got upgraded to a Junior Suit. The junior Suit is a HUGE room with living room, dining room ,sofa bed 1 and half bathroom, terrace or balcony with jacuzzi . The service is amazing. They have two restaurants .. i got the free breakfast for my status and as a courtesy i got my wife and my daughter too. Angelo was always making sure that everything was perfect in . Breakfast is buffet and you can order to cook more things. The other restaurant is on the beach and both have excellent options to eat. We stay for 5 days and almost every day we eat there. The beach is kind of private and you can walk to any direction . If you book any boat day they can pick you from the beach. Carlos the manager was always ready for any question . I booked transportation with the hotel to pick me up from the airport it is less than 8 dollars.. it can be cheaper to get a taxi but it is more secure to send an email an book your private transportation.
If you are traveling to Colombia and you want luxury accommodations and the best service this is the hotel.

We stayed on a standard room. Paid close to 300 usd per night including buffet breakfast which was ok. We asked for an egg arepa and they said not very politely that was at extra cost. My wife wanted only Champaign and not mimosa at a Sunday brunch and the supervisor had to approve.. not to add the orange juice. First answer was a decline. Special places at pool side you have to pay…
Towels process in the pool is with tickets. Are people going to this hotel taking the towels home.
food is good hotel decoration And facilities are great.
Now the big ticket on my 3 starts: happened twice during my 5 day stay: couple of foreigners (not Colombians) with Colombian female “friends” 20 years or more younger that them that could hardly speak their language. That was not fun and not good !!!!! To share the pool with these people !!!!!!

The Marriott hotel in Santa Marta, Colombia is a place where you can feel the professionalism of the people who work there. Their training to serve the tourist is noticeable and it is reflected in his cordiality and promptness.
The food is excellent, the rooms are very comfortable, all with a nice seaview. The general decoration of the hotel, lobby, rooms, dining rooms, etc., is very modern and tasteful. I highly recommend it.

They have very few vegetarian options and even less vegan…their idea when calling room service was to offer a Caesar salad…without bacon and chicken; basically lettuce and tomatoes.
When booking at this kind of hotel that is able to serve international guests, one expects that they keep in mind a growing veggie population. They don’t understand our protein needs, so hey don’t provide any. We cannot live out of carbs alone.
My advice for the hotel owners: hire a consultant/ vegetarian chef and give us more and nicer options.
My advice for veggie guests: download a local app called Rappi and order your food online!if you decide to visit

The building is lovely, and so are the rooms and pool area. Great access to a wonderful beach where you can walk for hours.
The breakfast buffet is great, and the service is generally excellent.
They charge extra for mediocre internet, $11 a day.
They only provide two tiny bottles of water, even though the water coming out of the taps is not drinkable, and there is no nearby store. They wanted to charge me more for additional water, in a climate that is really hot. What's next, are they going to charge for toilet paper.
Often the restaurant and other areas were understaffed, putting undue pressure on existing staff and providing weak service to guests.
Those issues could easily be resolved by a less stingy management.
Great place overall

The staff are exceptionally helpful. The breakfast is superb. Loved the beach and beach bar. Really easy to access Santa Marta. A wonderful oasis from the frenetic but hugely fun town. The suites with balconies are superbly comfortable. The race car taxis, with full on salsa music, got us into town and back in minutes.

I wouldn’t be able to answer the benefits of platinum elite as I have not stayed at the Marriott. I normally stay at a property next-door and just walk to the restaurants at the Marriott. Other dining options in the area are located in Zazue. An open mall a 6-8minute taxi ride. One way ride is about $10,000 COP or USD$2.50. The mall offers a variety of options such as Italian, sushi, Steak House and a delicious local Colombian chain called Crepes and waffles.
