We much enjoyed our stay in Cayena Beach villa. The premium suite we had, with a big terrace faces the sea, the swimming pool was very clean to swim, the long beach just before the hotel is lovely although only experienced swimmers can swim in the Caribbean sea which was quite rough. You can still enjoy the sea just don't go to far.
Best part was the food: customized breakfast and beautifully presented and tasty dinners, good wine selection for the small number of guests. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Tayrona National park is about ten minutes drive. We would love to go back there. Many thanks for allowing us to stay in such beautiful place.

Cayena Beach Villas was definitely the high point of our trip to Santa Marta and Tayrona Park. It's location about 40 minutes south of Santa Marta puts you into a milder climate zone (and that's a good thing. It is really hot in Santa Marta). We stayed for 4 nights in a Deluxe Room, which I highly recommend as they are located on the 3rd floor (safe stairs with handrails). Lovely pool view (ocean somewhat obscured by trees) and delicious breezes as you sit on the very spacious and comfortably furnished terrace. One morning the monkeys came so close that we could see mothers with their babies on their backs. The entire suite is quite comfortable and attractive. The tile swimming pool is one of the loveliest I've seen in nearly 50 years of traveling. The food and service (in all departments) is 5 Star. A 3 course breakfast and 3 course dinner were included in the already reasonable price. Not just any 3 courses, but well thought out menus and innovative, delicious cuisine served by a professional staff. Amazing coffee available whenever you'd like it. The front desk staff are top notch and, seemingly, can arrange anything. I had an excellent one and a half hour deep tissue message---for $28 USD!!! Plus, the low guest capacity gives one the feeling of a private retreat.
Really, if you're in the "neighborhood", this is THE PLACE to be!

Spent two nights here in early December but wish we had planned to stay longer. The hotel arranged for a taxi to pick us up at the airport for the approximate 45 minute journey (make sure if you take a taxi to have enough cash to pay - this charge is not put on your room bill). Upon arrival, you feel as if you are entering someone's private beachfront/jungle retreat. The buildings and pool are beautiful and surrounded by lush vegetation. The rooms are very nicely appointed. Given that there are only around 11 rooms, there were times you felt as though you were one of only a few guests. The breakfast and dinner that was included in the cost of the rooms was very good as was the lunch we ate one of our two days. The other day, we ate a very good, inexpensive lunch at the beachfront restaurant of the hotel nextdoor (they will transfer the bill to your Cayena hotel room).

The beach in front of the hotel is beautiful as well. The hotel provides chairs and hammocks along the beach making it a great place to just relax, and staff will bring you drinks. The wide sand beaches are lined with palm trees and flanked by large mountains at both ends. Given that there are not many hotels along this stretch of the beach, it often feels as though the beach is deserted which only adds further to the Hotel's many positive features. The ocean itself was often rough so it was not the best place for swimming. We had a wonderful stay and will definitely go back again!

It is a really nice place. But way to expensive for what they offer. Although it was the nicest hotel we have been to in Colombia. Maybe for Colombian standard it is good, but in other countries you get a room in the Ritz Carlton for that money and it is just not comparable in terms of services, facilities etc.

The staff is really nice but it takes a lot of time to get something. We were already joking that we should order our breakfast 30 min. before we wanted to eat. The restaurant / bar and so the common space closes at 10 pm and there is no possibility to get some drinks afterwards. Also, no minibar in the room. The food is ok, but we had better food in cheaper locations.
Also everything is a little bit dirty and looks used. In our room there was a half open shower with a wall only until the navel. No curtain or anything. Outside was a small street and a construction area. It is unbelievable to rent this room to women. We felt really uncomfortable using that shower.
The beach is nice but the furniture there is also pretty used and everything seems a little bit neglected. If you order something at the bar inside they bring it to the beach, but they don't come there to ask.

The yoga classes are very nice (+20.000) and it is over all a nice place to relax. There are only very few people during the day. There is always free water and coffee (although the milk was aaalwys empty).

In the neighborhood are sometimes parties at night, so make sure to bring ear plugs.

We read that this villa belongs to an American family but it seems like the don't take care of it anymore. We were there for four nights in the peak season and never saw them.

This place is really relaxing. It is not easy to find because it is out of the main route. you drive into a narrow and uncovered road but when you arrived a warmer welcome and all the trees give you the first best impression of the place. they do not have a front desk instead you are invited to seat on any of the comfortable sofas that are located in one of the 3 living rooms around the swimming pool.
Rooms are spacious, no TV, no phone, no any type of electric devices except hair dryer and your own electronic devices, wi-fi available. air condition and fan. Bed and pillows comfortable, Hot water on the shower but the weather is hot enough. rooms are clean. the place is like to stay in a big family house.
Beach is waking distance. Sunset and sunrise just there to enjoy. Food is great; breakfast, lunch or dinner never disappointed and vegetarian options in every meal. The chef and his staff are great.
Services is excellent and each one of theme need to be congratulated. I unknown the names of all of theme but Luisa Fernanda, Julieta, Oscar, Jorge and Jesus thank you very much you make the difference in my family trip

If you are looking for a quiet place with no music policy it is the place to be. Food is great. Only about 8 rooms share a 25 meter lap pool and it is always empty. They could promote more that they offer massages, yoga etc. Staff was very attentive

We were expecting something a bit more exclusive and luxurious. Instead the Hotel is adjacent to other beach hotels all of which are more ‘ hostel’ type in appearance/ clientele. Notwithstanding that, we had the best room with the sound of the roar of the sea being particularly soporific. Having a massage is too much out in the open for much privacy and really annoyingly there was no means to wash the sand from one’s feet when coming in off the beach.

I spent one day at Cayena Beach Villa and was very pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the villa and grounds are. It is a bit of an adventurous drive to an isolated destination, but very tranquil and beautiful. The gourmet meals were excellent and the service was top-notch. My room was big and very beautiful - my favorite part is the open-air shower looking out over the jungle.

An absolute paradise. Beautifully designed, surrounded by nature, 30 seconds from a stunning beach with surf waves. The pool is an oasis among the palm trees, and in the mornings you can sit and watch the birds and even little monkeys in the treetops. But above all, what made this place the best hotel we’ve seen was the service and food. A discrete, friendly and attentive team is around to help whenever you need, whether it’s bringing up breakfast in bed, cocktails in the pool, arranging a massage and yoga class by the beach, or crafting delicious vegan meals for us that burst with flavour and changed every evening. We couldn’t recommend Cayena beach villa more, and thank you to the team who made it so special!

Cayenne is a beautiful, clever creation. Our room felt very private with views over the stunning pool and out to the sea. The service from the front desk was absolutely amazing, prompt answers to endless questions. The room felt so luxurious, we were in a deluxe and it was one of the best rooms we have ever stayed in. We would have loved a little kettle in our room and possibly a small fridge as we are avid tea and coffee drinkers. But there is free coffee on tap at the bar during the day. There were no teapots to take hot water to room, but the staff improvised. All the staff were amazing, helpful and very kind. There is a sister restaurant next door for a change of scenery, slightly more basic food. We had breakfasts in the room and felt like royalty. The chefs produced a wonderful dinner and we loved the whatsapp facility which was a great communication tool. We had vague plans to visit Tayrona. Be warned it was closed until 22 February post high season, not an issue for us but maybe if this was your primary reason for going. Do not hesitate to book!

Cómo se puede llegar al hotel desde el aeropuerto de Santa Marta?
Answer from Pioneer799710
Oxfordshire, United Kingdom17 contributions6 helpful votes
There are no other restaurants nearby. There is only a backpacker lodge next door which has the same owners. In the evening it is noisy and rowdy as you would expect of a backpacker lodge. The menu in the backpacker lodge is almost the same as the lunch time menus in the hotel. The remainder of the beach consists of backpacker lodges and camps which do not have restaurants. They serve very basic cheap food for the backpackers. The food in the hotel restaurant is very good but we would never stay here again due to the adjoining backpacker lodge. Extremely noisy on the beach in front of the hotel until up to 5am as fires built along the beach where the backpackers are partying. The backpackers also use the hotel sun loungers day and night to sleep on so you are are unlikely to be able to use the beach. They also come into the hotel grounds to use the pool and sun loungers. The hotel staff are unable to control this. We did not see any other restaurants in nearby villages and you would need transport as the hotel location is remote. The beach and area is the domain of backpackers. We spent 8 nights and our stay was blighted by the impact of the adjoining backpacker lodge so would not recommend. The staff at the hotel were very nice but unable to control the behaviour of the backpackers.

We took a taxi. It was about an hour and maybe worked out to about $40CDN if my memory is correct. There is a public bus that runs that highway and it’s cheap but we aren’t Spanish speakers and didn’t want to spend half a day getting there.
