Value
A natural oasis, near from everything Because of its location, elegance and first-class facilities, Hotel Casa Mia is the perfect choice for a holiday feeling at home. Fell relax in our swimming pool while listening to the water fall into the fountain of our refreshing vertical garden, after having traveled the historical center, the bay and the most emblematic sites of the city, all just a few minutes away. Thinking about the environment, our facilities were built under a concept of sustainability, making the most of resources with minimal impact. So our home, apart from being the first on the Colombian coast to be in the process of LEED certification, was also designed to create unique, magical and responsible spaces for enjoying them in couple, family or with friends.

Casa Mia was a fantastic spot to call home in Santa Marta. The room and bathroom were generous in size and clean, the breakfast in the morning was incredible, and the staff was absolutely amazing. Any question we had, they had an answer. My partner also got incredibly sick one day, and they were very accommodating. One thing to note is that the pool doesn't get much sun (well, in February at least), so if you're looking to have a day by the pool, this isn't really the spot.

Casa Mia is a great little hotel with an extremely friendly staff. Located one half block from Parque de los Novios. I stayed 2 weeks. All the other guests seemed to be there just one or 2 nights. It was perfect for me. There are tons of restaurants and bars etc nearby. I don’t usually stay in the same hotel twice but I will be back again later in the year for sure. If you’ve never been to Santa Marta, be prepared for La Brisa Loca... And keep your phone charged as the hydro can go off, sometimes for hours... Also check before to see if Tayrona is open if you’re planning to head there before or after your stay in Santa Marta. It was closed during my visit.
I also recommend the Museo de Oro. Worth a quick visit and free to enter.
Me gustó mucho Casa Mía. Me pasé 2 semanas allí y me encantó.

I really enjoyed this boutique hotel could use a little updating but very comfortable. Has a mini pool upstairs. Beds and linens very nice. Lots of hot water. Wifi sucks. Did not have any noise from the bars across the street during my stay but the car horns honking till all hours. one lane one way street and the taxis stop at the park and won’t move for anyone until the get a customer. The hotel even provide ear plugs in there personal care dish. Get a room at the very back of the hotel upper floors. Check in time is 3 no earlier period. They will store your bags for you. Right in the restaurant and tourist area. I would stay here again. I left a tip for the maid hanging over the dresser. And she never touched it. Had to go deliver it to her.

We booked this hotel through Kayak as it was listed as having a pool. I had a quick glance and it appeared to have a small pool. What they actually have isn’t a pool by any stretch of the imagination, it’s basically a bit bath with dirty water in it, or a jacuzzi which doesn’t have bubbles.

We stayed for 3 nights and on the second morning, I was on my way to the local laundrette, which offers a 3 hour service. The cleaning lady stopped me on the way out, and insisted that she did it. She charged more, but I thought it would be convenient, so I went with her. I checked whether she could do it quickly, as I needed the clothes back, and she said she would leave them in our room at 5pm. On returning back from a day of hiking at 7pm, they were not there, so I chased. The young boy on reception tried to contact her but couldn’t, and he couldn’t find the clothes, so I had to wear the wet and dirty clothes I’d been hiking in for an evening out.

On the third morning, they were there and she had cleaned them, but was more interested in chasing me for payment than apologising or explaining why they were late.

The same day, we also asked for fresh towels, as they hadn’t changed them since we arrived. The lad on reception said he would bring them when he’d finished his paperwork, which seemed to be updating his social media.

He eventually brought some, but a few minutes later he reappeared asking for the dirty towels back, which we were about to use for the ‘pool’. The cleaning lady was on the phone to him at the same time, presumably the same one who was so elusive when it came to our washing, anxious that we didn’t steal the towels…

Pictures are misleading, the breakfast looks nothing like this. There are two options, a big pancake or garlic toast with eggs. It’s fine, but very basic. We had to constantly chase for more coffee after being given half a cup.

The sink in the bathroom didn’t drain at all, so it was filthy.

The aircon was very weak, but eventually didn’t cool the room down.

The room was quite nice but had no external windows and there was a flower pot by the bed which attracted mosquito lavre.

The hotel is incredibly loud, as it’s next to all the bars and constantly beeping taxis - they can’t do much about this to be fair but it should be considered if you’re after a quiet night.

On the last day after we’d checked out, we collected luggage and asked to have a quick shower by the pool, and the young lady on reception was very helpful, even offering us nice new towels rather than the ragged old ones we’d had in the room. Other than her, the rest of the staff were quite disinterested and unhelpful.

If you are after a relaxing stay this place is not for you!
The rooms had a bad stench of damp and there was a lot of noise coming into the rooms from the bar that is opposite. There was also a lot of mosquitos in the room and there was no effort by the hotel to keep them out.

This hotel was so bad that we stayed for an hour and left the hotel to stay at another one.

The staff said they would get in touch with us the next day to sort out a refund but never did. I emailed them a couple of times with no reply and they refused the refund when booking.com tried to get in touch.

All in all this was the worst hotel we stayed in whilst travelling around Colombia and I wouldnt recommend it to anyone - please avoid!

We stayed in this hotel on January the eighth. It was a cute but very small room. The air conditioning was not optimal. No hot water in the wi fi was not working. The pool and the hot tube are the same thing at this hotel, and it is not hot. The hotel uses the energy efficient and adds your room key to the slot to save the power method, which is fine if the ac unit can keep up with having to compensate for being off all day during the heat. We asked for a room with better AC, ac they led us to another room with the same under Power ac for the size of the room. Did I mention the wifi was not working either? Anyway, we asked for a refund for the second night, and the gentleman at the desk informed us that their policy had no refunds. So if you are looking for a small hotel with under powered ac that can't be left on when your not there and has a no refund policy when you are unhappy with your stay this is the place enjoy.

Property was not what we expected.
Bed was too small, I got mosquitos bites, when we had shower the water stays clogged.
We had to choice one only breakfast option: very small plate with eggs, a few fruits and only coffee.
Staff were nice and friendly.

The hotel is perfectly located in the middle of town. Clean and modern-looking. The staff went above and beyond to take care of us. Special thanks to Andres!
(Like all hotels in Santa Marta though, it had its share of water pressure issues, but they resolved in time)

After reading the glowing reviews, I booked Casa Mia for my family. When we arrived, we were given a third floor room, which meant carrying our bags up two steep flights of open stairs. We were ok with that, but probably not a good option for anyone with bad knees. There's a small pool -- really, just a place to cool off -- on the third floor, plus planters with dead plants. The beds were comfortable and the room dark enough for a good night's sleep. Theoretically.

I had not realized ahead of time that Calle 20 is one of the few streets that allows automobiles. Thus, the noise of taxis honking and music from the bars kept some of us awake past 2 am. Unless you can sleep through anything, this is not a good choice for a weekend visit.

Next, the free wifi was fine on the first floor, almost nonexistent on the third. Since I had work to do, this was a hassle, and I ended up having to haul my laptop to local cafes. If you don't need wifi, this won't be an issue for you.

The people who worked in the kitchen were sweet and helpful, and offered to make us whatever we wanted for breakfast, a meal we all usually skip (I know, I know) but I appreciated the option.

Apart from the noise, the worst aspect of our stay was an attempted theft by a staff member. After being confronted, the item was returned, but that is not something I have ever encountered anywhere I've stayed, and I stayed in some pretty sketch places when I was younger.

Location is fantastic, right by one of the main squares. Lots of good restaurants nearby. But you might think twice before booking Casa Mia for the weekend."

I want to appreciate your time for your comment on your stay at Hotel Boutique Casa Mia, we take all the comments as an opportunity to improve, after reading yours as owner I was amaze by the accusation of an attempted theft by a staff member. I analyzed the cameras to seek responsibilities, and I can tell with complete certain that there was not an attempted of theft and there was no confrontation, the sunglasses you were looking after doing the check in were misplaced under de couch by your son, where our housemaid swiping the floor two hours later found and gave it to reception as a lost and found item. Once you came back to our hotel the sunglasses were there for you to pick up. Please don’t use comments to lunch uncertain accusations, if it wasn’t for cameras I had to believed in you and change our entire staff. Leaving 6 hard working, great and as you say nice people without jobs and with a tainted CV. I have sent you the camera footage to the email we have in reception so you can see by yourself the misplaced.

After staying in Casa Mia, I understand and fully agree with the superb ratings of this property. The hotel is quiet, clean, new and centrally located. It is a 1-2 minute walk to Parque de los Novios and all the clubs and bars. It's a 7-10 min walk to the beach and has an Exito grocery store only a 4-5 minute walk away.

Some things I really loved were:
Excellent and friendly staff
The cleanliness and newness of the property
Great lighting in the room - I could not open my blinds because the windows lead to the hallway; however, the lights inside the room were bright enough and there were lights coming through the bathroom window
Breakfast - delicious and filling; you have 3 different options daily
Quietness - very quiet except for one night when the bar next door was having some kind of karaoke contest. But that was only one night out of the entire week I was there.

Casa Mia Hotel Boutique definitely feels like a cozy home away from home, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a quiet place that is also close to all the entertainment and dining.
