Chobe Safari Lodge garners praise from guests for its spacious and comfortable rooms, which offer breathtaking river views and the chance to spot wildlife from private balconies. The amenities, including indulgent game drives and river cruises, receive commendations for enhancing the comfort and variety of the stay, despite a few minor criticisms. Service at the lodge is celebrated for its friendliness and efficiency, particularly the staff's attentiveness in organizing activities, although occasional service gaps are noted.
The cleanliness of the lodge is consistently lauded, contributing to the overall satisfaction. While opinions on value vary, with some guests questioning the cultural authenticity and pricing of activities, the warm, African-inspired atmosphere and luxurious, well-kept interiors are widely appreciated.

Detailed Reviews
11 year old property on Chobe river. View of river couldn't be better. Public part of facility is spacious. Some staff are pleasant and helpful, but others ignore guests in favor of conversations with their colleagues or are even argumentative when asked politely for help. E.g. an elderly woman in the next room asked for a light during a power failure to avoid falling on furniture in the room The night manager, Victor, just shook his head "no" shrugged his shoulders, and walked off without a word. (There were plenty of portable lanterns available in the dining room.) The next morning the desk clerk could be heard arguing with a guest who was charged for breakfast although they were told when checking in the prior evening that breakfast was included in the room charge. Room was a typical midrange US motel style with 2 double beds, fairly small, passably clean, with carpet and mosquito net. Food was plentiful but of mediocre quality and relatively expensive. Room charge over the holiday also was relatively expensive compared to much better facilities nearby. I wouldn't bother returning here and wouldn't recommend the facility.

We stayed here as part of Saga tour, In the Footsteps of Livingstone.
The Hotel is in a lovely location on the banks of Chobe River and 15 mins drive to the main entrance to Chobe National Park.
Food is all buffet style with a good selection, food station service was quite slow at breakfast.
There is a pool with sun loungers, but mostly in the shade during the day.
We were due to stay here for 7 nights, but after the first night, we found that the bedrooms were not very clean, especially the mosquito nets, plaster was coming off the walls in bathroom area, balcony had a damaged railing. We believe that the Hotel has started to renovate the bedrooms. We requested our tour guide to move us to their sister hotel across the road, Chobe Bush Lodge, which was actioned without any delay.
We will write a review for Chobe Bush Lodge separately.

Lodge is nice, the waiting and bar staff were very good. It is a large lodge that caters well for western tourists, particularly big groups. Dinner was in the restaurant and is buffet style - a bonus as can have what you like, but the carvery meat was quite dry and selection pretty much the same each night. Ice cream for desert was melted!
Activity centre ok, staff didn't go out of their way to be helpful. Did morning game drive and guide was good. we didn't see much due to wet season so this could have been highligted at time of booking. The evening boat cruise was well worth the money although if booking theirs you have to pay for drinks. Would say have a look around at the other companies in Kasane as sure you would get same or cheaper with them included. Even having to pay the drink choice was very limited to beer, wine, gin or rum.
Swimming pool was out of action but can use the sister lodge if want. Mosquito's were awful here so be prepared. Sat on night next to the pool whilst was raining and they were really bad. Ask the staff for repellent as a top up, they were all spraying too!
Warthog, monkeys and mongoose roam freely in grounds to make sure don't leave room door open. Make sure use the mosquito nets provided. Room was very large and TV provided, safe is large enough for a laptop which was bonus.
Sunset is spectacular - don't miss this!
In overview lodge was ok, I prefer smaller places where I don't have to bustle with a crowd to queue up for my dinner.

Chobe Safari Lodge is the oldest hotel in Kasane. It is a very popular place for the tour guides to bring their tourists for lunch. Expect long ques. It is well located in Kasane, right at the border to Chobe NP. Just a 10 min drive from the gate. It is also close to an ATM and a grocery shop.
We stayed in tents on concrete plattforms with proper beds and electricity, a five minutes walk from the main building. They were more than ok for a couple of nights. The shared facilities like toilets and showers were clean and well maintained. The lodge itself was really nice. A good restaurant serving great breakfasts and buffét lunches. Since the food was quite expensive we preferred to visit some of the restaurants in Kasane for dinner. The pool need a proper cleaning or some maintenance but was ok for a dip or two. The lodge is situated along the Chobe River with spectacular view over to the Namibian side.

We were on an organised tour and stayed for 6 nights at the Chobe Safari Lodge. We were in an upper room overlooking a small garden area, but through a gap, we could see the Chobe river. The gardens have plenty of Warthogs, Monkeys and Baboons going about causing havoc for the garden staff, but great to watch.
The food is all buffet style and the choice for all tastes is amazing. The staff are very friendly and everyone says hello to you. We visited in late January during the quiet season, I am not sure how the buffet would cope at peak season.
The rooms are spacious with both a bath and a shower they also have a balcony to terrace.
The lodge is a 15 minute walk from the centre of Kasane town, which is perfectly safe to visit, but the pavements could be dodgy for anyone with walking difficulties.
Many people were buying drinks in the town for their room, but sadly no fridges are provided in the rooms (to encourage you to buy cold drinks from the bar). Boat and drive safaris are available at the hotel. We had three of both. The boat trips are fantastic and we had a very knowledgable guide. Sadly the same cannot be said for the safari drives, whilst the countryside is beautiful the guides are no more than drivers, who simply wait to see what is around the next corner. If like me, you love Elephants, you will be in paradise, especially on the boat trips. Chobe Park is open to all and there are many different Safari group’s operating. Many people just visit the area for a day, as such many of the Safari guides jostle for the best view of the wildlife. At one point we came across 4 Lions on the move, within minutes, 26 other vehicles were jostling for the best view, and seriously disturbing the Lions in the process. We have been on several safaris before and we have never witnessed this before and it would not be acceptable in other areas.
Other than the game drives, it was a great holiday.

This is a mid range resort. The accommodation is a little tired but clean. Toiliteries are supplied but you may need to ask for ‘refills’. Rooms have both a bath and shower as part of the ‘from’. The bed in room 23 was a good size but the mosquito net did not reach the floor. Safari rides start at 6 which is a little late to see some animals but the guides are very good and finding things. The river cruise in the afternoon is also worth taking. We had a breakfast and dinner deal, and the food was good. Drinks are quite expensive compared with other African countries we visited. Animals do roam the grounds which is delightful. There is a bar and swimming pool.

We booked a Safari to Zimbabwe and Botswana with Saga Holidays and stayed at this amazing Lodge overlooking the Chobe River for seven nights. There were 18 of us and the meals were all buffet sitting in two large tables with wine served in the evening. There was also an a la carte restaurant at the sister Lodge and we dined there several times, and the food was very good.
Our room in a block was amazing with a large bed which could be walked round with a desk, TV and small sitting area and built in storage which led to an open bathroom with a claw bath, large glass shower cubicle, twin sinks and separate toilet. The large bed was very comfortable and it was all very clean. We had a large balcony overlooking a green towards the river and every evening the warthogs would appear, together with a few antelope.
The restaurant and bar overlooked the swimming pool and river and there was a sunset bar further away. The large pool was warm and one day we swam accompanied by a long thin snake. Someone walked over and took a picture with their phone, but it was to identify the snake on an app and it was removed to the bushes, apparently being harmless. In the evening a family of warthogs walked through the bar from the riverbank and out of the front. There was also a smaller pool at the sister lodge which was good for swimming if it wasn't crowded.
One of us celebrated a Birthday and the kitchen staff came out singing and presented a beautifully decorated cake.
We had pre-arranged trips out on the boats in the morning and afternoon which were very comfortable and spotted so much Wildlife - Elephants with small babies, various Antelope, Kudu, fish eagles, birds, buffalo, crocodile, etc., etc. We also went by safari jeeps both early in the morning and afternoon and saw three lionesses, numerous Elephants, monkeys, antelope and seventeen giraffes in one place and were very lucky to see a pack of painted or wild dogs. These were magical moments.
We also had a pre-arranged small aircraft flight over the Zambezi river and although we didn't spot much wildlife it was great to see the terrain in varying shades of green and the river glistening below. The Airport is only a short ride away from the Lodge.
Care needs to be taken on the uneven bricks which make up the paths as one of us had a fall landing on the face, and fortunately it wasn't as bad as it could have been.
This was spotted by a man working on the thatching who called Security and two people were immediately sent to look and made contact.
The Staff were all very helpful and extremely pleasant and we would certainly recommend this beautiful place and wished you could have stayed longer.

The lodge is very well located both from Victoria Falls (only 1,5 h drive) and the Chobe National Park (15 min.).
We stayed for 2 nights in one of the river rooms. The room was OK, but could do with a lick of paint for example in the toilet.
We went on one river cruise and two game drives (morning&afternoon) and were happy to see a lot of animals. We even saw a leopard! It was not in the National park (as it has no fence), but roamed just outside the village! ”You are the lucky ones”, they said.
We had a full-board package, and were very happy with the quality and variety of food.
Service was friendly and very attentive.

If you want to see wildlife in Chobe it is all about location and this lodge is the only one that has it.
If you believe that wildlife conservation in africa has to be about the people as much as the animals then this location lives the ethos.
If you would like to have everything included and not have add on prices for your drinks, clothes washing, Wi-Fi extra then this is the place.
If you enjoy being in a space where the staff are smiling all the time and are genuinely happy then this is the place.
If you want to see birds, animals and people in harmony then this is the place.
If you have dietary requirements talk to the chef and this is the place for you.
This is a place I would recommend for anyone who wants a hassle free african wildlife experience.

Clean, comfortable and pleasant accommodation and good food, friendly service with a genuine relaxing holiday feeling on the Chobe River edge. Everybody at Chobe Safari Lodge was also complying to the Covid-19 safety rules regarding disinfecting hands and surfaces, etc, wearing masks and keeping safe distances. We felt really safe and comfortable.

We visited in June 2024 and the work was going on then , I am surprised its not yet completed. To be honest it didn't impact our enjoyment of our safari and other activities. Refer to the review I provided. As suggested above suggest you email direct the lodge as they will be happy to assist
I’d look that up in Google. We went in August and that’s what I did. It was pretty accurate and I was ably to pack correctly.
Laundry service available but usually expensive. Laundry services available in the village as well. Wifi is free.
Yes, our rooms have hairdryers for your convenience
