How fortunate we are to have spent 3 nights/4 days on the Pangolin voyager.
The houseboat is extremely comfortable and well maintained, and Sabrina and Melody served delicious meals, always sharing their smiles and even recipes.
The game we saw was magnificently close, with hippos, water buffalo, impala, crocs and elephant aplenty. We have a new found interest in birding - the variety and knowledge of the fantastic guides, Laskey and Fabian, helped us hone our skills.
Best of all, the members of the crew had an intuitive understanding of the quirky needs of the individual photographers on board, and this meant photographically, it was a triumph
A totally fabulous break.

We had a fantastic time for 4 nights. The friendliness and service of the people is excellent, food good, excellent photography and guide on tender boat. I was a bit early at the hotel and was offered a room to freshen up as well as coffee and drinks at no extra cost.

We stayed on the Pangolin Voyager as part of a Pangolin Photo Safari. The Boat is moored on the Namibia side of the Chobe River, but once we had entered Namibia through one of the most unique Border Posts I've ever been through, we were welcomed on Board by Beate and her incredible Crew. The Boat and Rooms are very comfortable, and everything we did, from the Boat Safaris to the relaxing on Board were simply amazing. On the Safaris along the River, Raymond, our Guide was incredible. We felt very safe with him taking up the various Channels and pretty close to the Hippos & Crocodiles. Being the "Green Season", the Birdlife along the Banks and over the River was wonderful. Raymond is a fantastic Spotter, and how he saw some of the small Kingfishers among the trees and bushes that line the River will always remain a mystery to me.
All of the Crew were brilliant, but special mention must go to the Ladies in the Galley, Melody & Sabrina. How they managed to cook up the wonderful delights that were placed on our Table is just unbelievable.
If you want to go on a Photo Safari in wild Africa, but spoil yourselves to a little bit of luxury along the way, then you won't go wrong booking a few days on the Pangolin Voyager with Pangolin Photo Safaris.

We had a brilliant time on the Pangolin houseboat. Twice daily boat cruises on a very stable photographic designed boat with excellent swivel chairs and Gimbal pods guided by the very knowledgeable Fabian. Great food and comfortable cabins. Relax in the middle of the day on the upper deck and watch the elephants, hippos and buffalo whilst sipping a Gin and Tonic - Fantastic! Non photographers would be a bit bored but the views and enforced relaxation are still great.

There are not much better ways to see the Chobe than stay on the Pangolin Voyager houseboat. The boat is actually located on the Namibian side of the Chobe River but passing through customs is quick and easy.
There are only five rooms and a maximum of only eight guests which is great, giving it an intimate feel. Our cabin was very comfortable with an en-suite. The generator runs throughout the day to provide power for charging batteries etc but is turned off at night.

The dining area/lounge has windows all around for great viewing and plenty of comfortable seating. There is also an open air deck on the top of the boat for a pre dinner drinks and watching those amazing sunsets.

The food was excellent thanks to Sabrina and Melody despite the obvious restrictions of cooking on a boat and all the staff were lovely and friendly.

Twice a day you go out in the small tender boat that is equipped with 360 degree chairs and gimbals making photography easy as you always get a good view. Fabian our guide and Janine our photo host were excellent with incredible knowledge of the wildlife of the area. We both returned with so much more photographic knowledge than we went with. Continually Janine was helping us with suggestions on camera settings dependent on the changing conditions. She was able to make us think very differently about our photography and we’ve returned much improved with some amazing photos.

This was my second time on the Pangolin Voyager. My first stay was great, but I could see that they made improvements that made this second time even better. The boat is extremely comfortable and the rooms are much more spacious than one might expect. Beate is always looking to make improvements to make the stay easier, more comfortable and quieter. The biggest improvement was the addition of solar power that provides electricity even without the generator being on at night. Being able to have lights and charging power for batteries and computers was a huge improvement from my previous stay. She also tried out some quiet fans to help cool the rooms at night. This made for very quiet nights for sleep or listening to the hippos and lions. Meals on the Voyager are plentiful and delicious. The staff does an amazing job. Our guide was Ray and he positioned the boat perfectly for our photos. Sara was our photo host and she was equally as awesome with her knowledge and enthusiasm. One great advantage is that the houseboat moors on the Namibian side and thus, you have access to all the quiet and unpopulated Namibian channels. You are literally the only boat on the water. All-in-all, you just can't go wrong with choosing to stay on the Pangolin Voyager for part of your stay on the Chobe.

OMG....where do I start for this epic adventure with Pangolin!

Being picked up by the photo tender was magical as we were soon seeing herds of elephants along the bank of the Chobe having a drink, dust bathing and feeding. Approaching the majestic Pangolin Voyager Houseboat, you know that you are going to have a fantastic time on board as well the photographic experience.

Starting with my cabin (no.3) was all that one could want for your creature comforts. Very comfortable bed for a good night's sleep (much needed after a full day's adventure!) Plenty of sockets for charging all the batteries, laptop etc

Food and drinks: Wholesome and plenty with variety to please every palate. the triple cheese plate was delicious amongst the many mouthwatering meat plates! Wines to compliment the meals are plentiful. Plenty of fruit available. Those who like their teas and coffees well you will not be disappointed as this is literally on tap as is the alcohol and soft drinks.

Facilities: The lounge, upper deck are well equipped to do your editing or just laze around and take in the landscape and wildlife. All the better with a G&T!

So the Voyager provided the perfect base to explore the wildlife on the well equipped tender to photograph the wildlife along the banks of the Chobe. This was truly up close and personal, especially the baboons! The variety of the animals (elephants, lions, hippos, crocs, impalas...to name a few) and birds (a total novice with the names but was very familiar with them by the end of the trip) that are plain sight and be quick with your camera!! Bird life included pied Kingfishers, Bee eaters, fish eater, pelicans, African darters, skimmers, giant kingfisher to name a few.

After each trip out on the tender it was good to return to the Voyager for some creature comforts with the staff all happy to oblige to all your needs and nothing was too much trouble.

The Voyager is not the only boat that navigates an increasingly busy Choice river, between Botswana and Namibia, near that magical corner of Africa where several nations meet, several rivers flow together, several lands merge into a stunning landscape of water, flowers, birds, big wildlife. But the Voyager is the only one where you become passionate about photography thanks to its unique formula: they provide you with the right equipment (very good Canon cameras and lenses), a special boat designed for photographers and, even more importantly, guides who share with your their passion for wildlife photography, for Africa, for the Chobe river.
Many guests are high level amateurs, but my wife and i were not and still our tutor/teacher sabine patiently taught us the first skills and injected us with the first enthusiasm for something that is very different from a "normal" land safari. Even with good binos it is difficult to see and "capture' there details of many birds and mammals species in the same as you do with the right camera and the right teacher. It is about the light, the sun, the position, the choices you make, the narrative you have in mind. it is technical but also profoundly creative.
Back to the boat after a long morning or after one of incredibly coloured sunsets, you feel simply happy and fulfilled.
The main boat is truly special and comfortable. We stayed in cabin 1 and loved it. It is an experience that we recommend to everybody, not only to the growing number of experts photographers. Thank you Pangolin team, thank you to its founders Guts and Toby who had the vision, the courage, the passion to create such a unique experience.

I take groups to Chobe often and stay on the Pangolin Voyager. The staff and food are fanastic, they go out of their way to be accomodating on special dietary needs and also available to assist with anything over and above their normal offerings. The daily excursions for photography is also just awesome.

From arrival to departure, it was one of the best experiences of my life where every sense was brought alive and satiated! Fabulous Fabian is a mine of information and his knowledge of birds, game and trees is phenomenal. Sabrina kept us well fed with delicious food and shared her wonderful recipes. Oscar, Martin and Petra were in the background but were helpful and hardworking. Cabin was more than comfortable and in fact,I can't complain about a thing so thank you! I shall treasure the memories!

Hi. Thank you for your message. I'm afraid that there is no wi-fi on the houseboat but at certain moorings you do have 3g coverage although its not super fast. Our clients tend to enjoy the houseboat as a digital detox of sorts. I hope this doesnt put you off Toby
