This was a new place I was told when we stayed there. It was pretty empty and I was surprised b/c we had an amazing stay. The staff was super attentive, the lodging and room was really nice, we enjoyed the deck as well as dinner on the deck by candlelight. The food and menu of food was excellent. We were not disappointed w our stay. Our guide was Robert and he was great to spend on land and water, very knowledgeable and kind. The drive into the park was only about 10 min down the main road-- kept warm by blankets from the guide and lodging. Much appreciated.

If you imagine what a thatched lodge in Africa would be like, then Jackalberry with it’s high polled beams and deep thatched roof built on decking looking out over the Chobe river will give you a truly unique and luxurious ‘Out of Africa’ experience.

From the moment of our arrival to the last minute of our stay, we were treated like the most important couple staying at this stunning lodge. The staff were all very attentive, kind, polite and thoughtful. We were made to feel like ‘nothing was too much trouble’.

Decking lead us from the spacious open plan reception, lounge and dinning area complete with infinity pool, to our large and beautifully furnished tented accommodation with a private decking area where we were able to watch some glorious sunrises and admire the tranquility of the location during our stay.

Breakfast was served at a time to suit us and accommodated our morning activity whether that was 5am in time for an early Game Drive or 9:30am for a relaxing morning by the pool. A tasty 3-course Brunch was served on our return from the early morning Game Drives and a High Tea of savouries, fruit and cake was available in the afternoon’s before we embarked on our 2nd Game Drive of the day or a Sunset Cruise on the Chobe river. A candlelight Dinner served for us on the main deck under a starry African sky was a truly romantic experience.

All of our game drives and river cruises were provided by Thebe River Safaris ~ Jackalberry’s Sister Company.

Our stay at Jackalberry Chobe was truly magnificent. Thank you for making our Honeymoon and memorable and treasured experience. We will be returning.

Wayne and Jan Stroud.

I was on safari with Overseas Adventure Travel. I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The accommodations, staff and food were top notch. I see from previous reviews that the former manager was not good (Simon). The new manager, OP, was wonderful - gracious, inviting, friendly, welcoming, enthusiastic, engaging, as were the rest of the staff. The guide/drivers were knowledgeable and entertaining. I was not bothered by the location - it is Africa after all. The AC, wifi and electrical outlets in the room were a treat after 10 days in bush camps without those amenities.

One of the best views on our trip to Southern Africa were from our 'tents' in Jackalberry - we woke to beautiful views of the Chobe river right before us. The bathrooms were stunning, providing a somewhat outdoor shower / bath experience. Meals particulary lunches were fantastic and we received exceptional service from the manager Omphile and all of the staff including restaurant, bar and housekeeping. Our guide Jack was very experienced and led us to see plenty of wildlife in Chobe on game drives and the river safari, even positioning the Cruiser for optimal photography. This was overall a delightful experience and we hope to be back someday.

Jackelberry is an amazing place.
My family and I stayed 2 nights and we had a fantastic stay. The rooms were fabulous, the food was divine and the game drives were outstanding. Everything was always well organized. The staff was next level! They were so attentive, caring and always made us feel comfortable. Special thanks to OP who is a fantastic manager. You truly made our stay perfect!
This place is an absolute must! Don’t miss it.
Warm regards,
Sophie :)

Everything at Jackalberry Lodge met our highest expectations and the staff are such a happy, friendly crew, led by the manageress Opi, a really lovely lady who went out of her way to meet our needs and ensure we had the best of Botswana first-time experience. So many animals came out we were very fortunate and our safari guide Justice is an extremely knowledgeable and positive guy. We quickly felt valued by everyone and hope our thanks are enough in expressing appreciation for all that was done so that our stay there was so memorable. Josephine F and Jason R.

Simply stunning location overlooking the Chobi river, a quiet location, a very relaxing environment. OP the Manager she is just amazing, all her staff very welcoming and friendly - Kabo our safari guide simply awesome, the food was lovely, accommodation facilities were perfect and very clean, neat and tidy, glam camping at its best. Location only 10 minutes up the road to the Chobi National reserve - perfect place for Safari. Would highly recommend this wonderful place to stay without the large crowds.

We had a great time at Jackalberry Chobe. The lodge, services and the staff were all exceptional. We especially enjoyed our guide, Omphile Chikusi (OP) who was friendly, courteous, knowledgeable and ready to show us a wonderful time. He always went out of his way to ensure that we saw everything possible. Our stay here was the highlight of our two and a half week trip to Southern Africa which included two other camps, a visit to Victoria Falls and a stay in Cape Town. Thank you OP and to the entire staff who made our stay there amazing. Rich & Sharon D.

Such a lovely relaxing place to stay
Our view onto the Chobe River was
awesome, our balcony was looking
directly out onto the river. Our
Manager - Op was superb, nothing
was too much trouble for her, she was
very professional, warm & friendly
and such a pleasure to see her big wide smile everyday. Our Guide - Jack - He was the man! The sightings were
unbelievable, Honey Badger, Sable, the elusive Roan, these were things that I was hoping to see but thought I wouldn't get to see. The very warm & friendly staff, also made our stay there so great. We thoroughly recommend Jackallberry.

I read a few reviews before booking and was concerned about the location - across from a prison. However, once in the property, it made no difference. My daughter and I felt very safe at all times. We stayed in a riverfront tent (a must). The view is fantastic and we loved hearing the hippo's! The rooms were exactly as pictured. Very clean and comfortable. Staff was very pleasant and OP, the manager went out of her way to address any needs we had. The meals were excellent and safari's were top notch. Our guide knew where to go to find the animals and provided so much education regarding the land and animals. We could not have asked for a better experience.

I totally agree with the answer above. They have security staff on the side to the street and an electrical Wire to the river area. We saw some water buffeles on the green before the tent and hippos in the water. I went there on my own and I felt save all the time. The Food was delicious and was offered on the safary tours as well. Be sure, with going to this camp you will not make a mistake.
