What can I say we spent a strange 2 nights here! Turned up and was overwhelmed by how cool it was! Loads of funky places to sit and original decor felt like a really unique place t stay! Showers were full of mozzis (it’s Africa) but water was strong and hot! Just a bit of a strange set up, probably because we were the only ones there. Lots of locals wondering in and out, the gate never gets shut and there’s no specific security guard. It’s very very noisy at night, lots of dogs barking and chickens clucking! But I cannot fault the value for money, especially with such good wifi! Pool wasn’t in use and we slept in our rooftop tent so cannot comment on the rooms. Overall a strange experience but good value for money, just wouldn’t recommend to solo travellers.

Easily exceeded my expectations. Excellent customer service standards, the staff members are ever so hospitable and helpful. Would highly recommend the destination if you're looking for an affordable and tranquil place stay in Kasane.

We can really recommend you to stay at Bananyana Camp. We planned to stay for one night but we soon decided to stay for another. It's a really relaxed place, feels like bush, but all the facilities are there, the rooms are not big, but just fine or you can stay with your own tent. Besides that I think it's the only affordable place around Kasane if you're on a budget. We stayed here before we went for a 8 day self drive safari which requires a lot of preparations, but Simo (the owner) helped us perfectly. Without him our safari would have ended in a flop, haha. Besides him the rest of the staff has been really friendly as well. In short: a place to stay.

I'm quite surprised to see TripAdvisor exposing this place. What was supposed to be a single night there became a nightmare for me, three yrs ago, by the time I arrived there around 7pm. It was already dark night. Even though the place was informed about my arrival around that time, when I came into the property there was no living person but a weird sleepy dog. The place looked disarranged, one of its houses being restored but, still, l waited around 1 hour. As no one appeared, I decided to walk away in search of help and a place to sleep in spite of the darkness in such isolated area by the border of the Chobe National Park. Well, I just gave up the idea by the time I stepped out and heard sounds coming from the bushes. Once back, I decided to "invade" one of its tiny rooms, wich I found opened with spiders all over, lock myself inside and see what would happen in the following morning. When I moved with that purpose a car arrived in front of the property. The driver remained in it, a guy left and came into the property asking out loud who I was. "I'm willing to be a guest", I answered. When he approached I smelled alcohol all around. The guy was a bald black short lad quite drunk who identified himself as the owner. He asked if I had money, I instinctively sad no and he grabbed my arm telling me to leave with him to withdrawal some money and buy him a car (!). After that we could go party and manage my stay by the morning, he said. I immediately took my bags in the tiny room and walked away. By the time he came back to the car and left with his partner I was already walking in the dark towards some lights I could see some 200m away. Luckily, a concerned guy in there left his home and drove me to a safe guesthouse in town. I'm a very very tough and low budget backpacker, I have experienced loads of things in my world travels, but bananyana exceeded my worse expectations of a -1 star hostel. So far I haven't decided what could be worse - the guy as a scoundrel passing by or, in fact, as the real owner. Btw, the concerned guy who helped me recognized the lad as the owner after I described him. That said, if you decide to go, pray for a new management!

Great place to stay for backpackers! My friend and I had a wonderful time. It exceeded our expectations based on previous reviews. The guy working, Eric I believe, was very nice and helpful and gave us lots of tips on traveling around the area. There were some very unique room options like the traditional huts. It was not busy when we stayed so it was quiet, but dogs were barking all night as there were wild animals around the property, since it is quite remote. The rooms are what you would find in a typical hostel so do not expect luxury. There is great wifi and a kitchen. Overall, it is a great local place for its value.

We decided to stay at this camp because it was way cheaper than any other camp in kasane. Still, we probability should have invested more money. The rooms are tiny, the beds are very hard , the bathroom and communal kitchen is dirty and the showers don't work properly (either no water came out or just cold water and the water pressure kept changing all the time). But all of this would have been acceptable if it wasn't so loud at night. There are probably 6-7 dogs at the camp and another 20 In the neighbourhood that are barking throughout the entire night making it impossible to sleep. The owner explained that they are fighting off another animals and they are trained to do that but still I would have liked to sleep at night.

I stayed at Bananjanas just before Christmas. I literally was the only person staying there who was not from Botswana. That was quite an interesting experience even though the people from Botswana drink a lot in festive season.
The place himself is very simple but the owner, a local, puts a big effort in developing Bananjanas, building new stuff there every week which makes this place quite unique. He appears a little bit grim, but is very helpful and I had a great time with the stuff aswell.

We stayed at this remote place for 2 nights and it was all in all a very good one, regarding the price and the activities you can do. Its simple but the huts are cozy and the dorms are fair. There was good Wifi and a kitchen, which was dirty but had everything you need. There are now restaurants and shops around but you can always ask for a lift to the supermarket to buy things for self cooking.

The staff is helpful and Simo, the person for everything helped us a lot with any of our wishes and problems. You can also do Game Drives and River Safaris to Chobe National Park, which I strongly can recommend cause the prices are reasonable and you get to see most of the wildlife, living in the National Park including Elephants, Hippos and even Lions.

Dont expect too much, but once you accepted that youre not in a 5-star lodge it will be a nice stay. And remember youre paying a fair price compared to other places.

I stayed in the Hostel for three nights and I actually wanted to extend my stay for a few more days. The Hostel is honestly in the middle of nowhere but easy to find for every taxi Driver. The People and the owner of the Hostel are so friendly and try their best to make your stay a pleasant one.
Yes, the rooms are tiny but cute, clean and just ok!
You can use the kitchen which is "as clean as possible", but still, it's africa and it's more than fine!
I also did two Safaris, arranged by the hostel owner.
The safaris are a huuuge recommandtion! They try to show you everything you want to see and that for a really reasonable price.
So in the end I would recommand you to go there. Enjoy the evening at the bonfire, watch the super clear nightsky and have fun with all the great people there!
