Beautiful place with a rustic touch, clean & refreshing. 20mins drive to the national park and 10 mins drive away from the Zambian and Zimbabwe border. Enjoyed the exceptional service from the staff, they were very thoughtful & helpful. Eco-friendly destination.

The bed was pretty comfortable and the upstairs room was vary spacious with a private bathroom, extra room with twin beds and a dressing area. Unfortunately the floor is very noisy so one is constantly aware of the guests downstairs. Not very much parking space but the outside area is rustic and offers a big screen tv with satellite channels. The staff were helpful. Over all a pretty decent place given the price and we were quite satisfied.

Stayed here for 1 night due to its proximity to the Kazungula ferry. This is a small guesthouse run by (I believe) a young local couple. They are v friendly and helped to give tips on crossing the ferry. But it felt at times that they were a bit stretched in what they do, especially the lady was busy with everything from roomkeeping to check in to activity booking.

1. Before we arrived, we had trouble finding the exact location of the guesthouse. There were different addresses on booking.com, hotel.com, tripadvisor and the like. This guesthouse is NOT in the middle of Kasane (where the main action is) but closer to the border post. It would be ideal if the owners could sort this out on the internet.

2. When we arrived, we were told to wait at the lounge as our room was not ready, even when we arrived after the check in time. However, a while later, they said in fact the ensuite room we booked was not ensuite. They had a mistake on the booking website, so we could only take the bedroom with the shared bathroom. Despite the apologies and that we ended up paying a lower price, we felt things were not organised. We had no choice but to accept it.

3. The owners helped to book into a boat tour with their partner agent along Chobe River for 3 to 6pm but this was not a Chobe river cruise as expected. It was a small motor boat full with 10+ adults, and they nearly added a few more! The guide was very bad - after a month going on various safaris and trips, this was the worst. He had troubles with sorting the Chobe Park permit and said we may not be able to get in. Eventually when we did enter the park after much delay, he made no attempt to explain about what we saw. He did not know the river well. When other similar or bigger boats could get closer, he said it was too shallow. We got too close to the elephants and hippos at times that we asled him to back off. He could not really spot the wildlife and the other visitors did it for him. We got grounded by rocks... Other visitors on the boat were not happy. One couple demanded to get off. Nobody gave him a tip. Not a pleasant experience.

4. We were promised by the guesthouse owners to pick us up by 6pm. We actually paid for this transfer. However, there were no sign of them until 6:50pm. We stood by in the dark for ages. Luckily, the boat agent lady helped us call the owners, and stood with us while waiting. Otherwise it would be rather daunting. After some more wait, she told us the owners will not pick us up anymore. We have to take the local taxi and the owners would pay for it. This is again, not acceptable. We again, had no choice but to accept this. And the owners never apologized nor explained what went wrong, especially the man! At least when we probed with the lady, she was sorry. But no proactive apology!

5. We were never shown to our room or explain what all the bunch of keys given were about. So apparently a key each is for the shared toilet, shower, etc. The lady in our group got stuck in the shower room as the keys were not working well. The lady owner came to our rescue with a set of master keys. And said people don't normally lock the doors. We were stunned. This was a shared, unisex bathroom, and how on earth would that be possible!

6. The shower curtains were half falling off. The only good thing was that there was a hot shower.

7. Bedroom was v small. There is a fridge but no where to hang towels or clothes. We were given only one towel instead of two. The room decor was v dated, with no mosquito bed nets. Luckily, we had our own DOOM. There was no where to put anything other than the top of the fridge. Bed and duvet were acceptable.

8. Wifi does not work half of the time. In the house or at the outdoor lounge area.

While I would love to support locally owned businesses in the tourism industry, we were being let down. Worse is the owners do not seem to care. But, this is one of the cheaper (not the cheapest) options in Kasane. Maybe that is why.

Boni, the owner, disrespects his guests. He is unhelpful for even the smallest things such as asking him to call a taxi: he will say he is out of airtime. He never replaced a broken window in my room during the rainy season that he knew about for 3 months and mosquitos were plentiful. He also refused to refund my prepaid rent when I had to leave early due to immigration. The turnover in housekeepers is also very telling as I knew some who worked 12 hour shifts and were not paid overtime. All the while, he is planning to open another business when he can't even serve the customers he has in Kazungula. I could go on.

I was a long-term guest and was told to prepay for March. I prepaid but learned after I prepaid that according to immigration law, I only had 90 days in the country as a foreigner and my time was up. I asked for a refund of half of my prepaid rent and Bonnie told me he didn't have it. He promised to send it but never did. The amount is a big sum, $500 USD. I contacted him on whatsapp only to be insulted. In addition, there was a missing window pane in my room that wasn't replaced in 3 months. Bonnie will not even make a phone call for you to call a taxi: he will say he's out of airtime.

Please avoid a bad experience and stay elsewhere.

I am a full time safari operator and have had many different african experiences. I like to support small local operators were ever possible. The experience at Sekama was very disappointing to say the least. I am sure the host could of adressed the concerns and made the stay more pleasant.

The pictures of the guest house are very misleading and create a false impression. The adress provided on the internet does not correspond with the actual location. I tried calling the owner to no avail. By luck a local was able to direct me to the guest house.

The main room was not available on arrival. Two requests were made to obtain additional towels as each room only had one. Nothing was forth comming. No adequate drinking glasses were available. The continental breakfast buffet is a joke. No sugar was available.

The biggest concern was the hygiene of the rooms. My foreign guest could not sleep due to the large amount of cockroaches present in their room and bathroom. I informed the host and he did not do much to rectify the situation. When I returned to collect our belongings to move to a suitable lodge, the host did not even have the courtesy to come out from his home and discuss the matter with me. A pity that this is how it had to end.

We arrived and had to wait as the main

There is no golf course, no 24-hour desk, no babysitting and no breakfast bar as advertised under "ABOUT." This is false advertising and must be removed. I stayed there for 3 months and know the ins and outs (mostly outs) of Sekama.

This place is very much different than many hotels, and those who seek for fancy rooms and rastaurants should look for something else.
What we've found here was a friendship with our hosts, and they make me feel like home in this place.
Bony and Theby were always helpful when we needed something, and I would never forget the beautiful time that we had in their guesthouse together with them.
