The lodge rooms are spacious enough and have a huge bathroom. The room is equipped with a fan, mozzie net and air conditioning. Is immaculately clean. The bar Resturant is a basic structure but the food was good and the service excellent. The is basic but good enough to cool down.
The game drive to nearby Chobe National park proves to be one of the best. Plenty of wildlife including lions, buffalo, hippo, elephant, impala, baboons, kudo etc...
The sunset cruise game a different perspective to the animals and included crocs.

This hotel has small rooms which smell rare, not very clean. The personnel on reception is not friendly, the service was bad. On the second day no towels and water was left in our room. We had to discuss with receptionist to get towels (never got water). Will never stay there again. Restaurant, instead, was Ok and Chobe park safari and river safari were excellent. Looks like these are 2 different structures run by different people…

Room Tip: Avoid to stay in the hotel. If you stay in the camp, is OK. Safaris are good.

This was a clean and tidy stopover . Large camp site facilities as well . Food was ok and breakfast good . Lurpak butter !! Very close to the national park for 5 wheel drives or why not take the sunset boat down into the park . Room was ok . Not their fault but coach group was noisy first thing in morning . Secure place to stop

Thebe River Safaris organised all of our activities whilst my Husband and I stayed at Jackalberry Chobe [Sister Co.] and Neighbours, along the Chobe River, Kasane, Botswana. An outstanding duo that made our Honeymoon such a memorable experience. Our activities included 3 Game Drives, a Sunset Cruise and an early morning Sunrise Cruise on the Chobe river.

Our Guide Shimisu introduced himself when he collected us from Jackalberry for our first Game Drive and informed us that he would be our Guide for the duration of our stay … with a cool box packed with ice and drinks for our first Safaris loaded onto our open sided 4x4 safari vehicle … off we drove to the Chobe National Park.

Shimisu was very knowledgeable and was able to provide, at times, a humorous commentary on the animals we encountered. We were extremely lucky to see 4 of the BIG 5; Lion, Buffalo, Elephant and Leopard. Unfortunately, there are no longer Rhino in the Chobe National Park as they’ve been moved to private sanctuaries for their safety and protection.

So much other game was seen during our safaris from Hippo to various species of Antelope, Zebra, Giraffe and Crocodile and all of our game drives were different. This was down to Shimisu’s experience, knowledge of the area and tracks he followed. We couldn’t have chosen a better Company for our African adventure.

During our stay at Jackalberry, we also visited the Thebe Safari Lodge, Campsite, Bar and Restaurant where we experienced their first-class hospitality and infamous pizza’s. Whilst we did not stay at the lodge, it looked very comfortable, cozy, clean and well equipped and as this lodge is owned and operated by the same Company that owns Jackalberry, I have no doubt that the level of service would exceed any guests expectations.

Thank you so much for complimenting our Honeymoon at Jackalberry Chobe.

Wayne and Jan Stroud.

P.S : your infamous Pizza reputation is spot on ~ they were amazing!

We had a boat cruise on the Chobe River by Thebe River Safaris. The Chobe River is famous for the rich wild life on its banks, but we have found the ‘cruising’ safari very different to the usual driving. We could see many animals, and, what was important for us, from a different angle from the water site or in different circumstances, like swimming. Most impressive was to see a swimming elephant. The crew of the boat we were on was extremely professional and they managed to follow the elephant at a close distance so we could see it very well. It was unforgettable experience!

Rooms were clean, tidy and comfortable. No adaptors were available to borrow/rent for charging phones etc though reception did let me charge my phone there one day. Reception staff were helpful and friendly but with an air of detachment/distain. Pool area basic and initially water looked green and uninviting, but it was clean and fine to use.
Our safari was arranged through reception was excellent with a very good guide who had an eye for spotting animals.
In our first night the restaurant and service was great, but the second completely opposite. Waiter struggled to understand our order, waited an hour for food (despite being told it’s ready a couple of times) which was then poor at best. Not very warm or poor quality even for Africa. Worst was a grilled chicken which was pre cooked (though not thoroughly as blood still visible) then frozen and reheated. However it was still frozen in the middle and not heated through.
Overall it was ok with good aspects but also very bad ones.

Although bit expensive, this lodge is a sure bet! Right on the bank of the river dividing Botsvana from Namibia, it offers standard accomodation in rooms with AC and private bathroom. The place is full of wildlife right in front of your bedroom. Baboons will steel anything that looks like food. Hippos will roar in the evening untill late in the night. Thebe River Safaris have there own 4x4s to take you to Chobe National Park (15 min. drive) with an overnight stay right in the bush. Absolute jackpot! We heard a lion roaring barely 200 to 300 m from us. A giraffe came early in the morning to tell us that Simba is gone. I will never forget this night!

Do NOT Book with this Company!!!
We came to this place with an Overland truck having traveled 5 african countries and we have never encountered anything as bad as this!
They do not keep their vehicles in order and when they break down they start telling lies about it. But that was not the worst:
We went on a boat ride and halfway into the park on the river the guide stops the boat because Management called hin to ask why he Tool a different boat than the one he was supposed to. He explaned to them and to us that the appointed boat was broken down and so he switched. His management was not happy with him (!) and would have rather he would have taken the broken boat. Because we were halfway down the river, they let us go on.
Later we went on an Overnight game drive that was supposed to be three hours but the vehicle we were on kept getting stuck in the sand because the gears were not taking properly. The engine started to overheat and at some points would not restart. Once we all had to get out of the car to make it come out of the sand again. The driver was all silent and was trying his best, but later told us, that he had asked for a better car but was denied that. We arrived to the campsite more than an hour late in the pitchdark which was sad.
Three days later we came back to this place and because we had picked up new people on our Overland tour the Chobe overnight experience was part of the itinerary again.
You would think that most companies would try to make up but it became even worse: it started with us being picked up an hour and 20 minutes late and they were telling us the delay was due to a flat tire. ( Now any safari company that takes more than an hour to change a tire is a frightening thing!!) When finally a vehicle came, they told us that they changed vehicles because of a flat tire ( whoever believes that!) and that the new vehicle did not have a canvas on and that was causing the delay. We arrived at the gate at 4:10 instead of 3:00 pm and they told us we would not be game driving to the campsite but on the tarroad because the campsite was too far. We were really upset about that because we knew that all the animals in Chobe are found near the River in the evening. The guy restarted the truck and before ever entering the park noticed that the tires were blocking and told us that we could not go into the park with this vehicle. They then sent out the mechanic to have a look and sent another smaller car that would not accommodate us all. After more waiting they sent a second small car from another company but they had not told him that we were booked on an overnight. To sort this out delayed us still more and we entered the park at 5:30 driving on the tarroad and seeing no animal at all. You would think this is the end of my complaints but they went one step further: 30 min into the park they radio to the driver to stop the car and tell me us, if we go on we could not ask for any compensation for everything we missed and if we were not going to accept that on the spot, the driver would take us back to their base camp outside the park! They basically held us ransom in the middle of a national park at Night! And to say our tents, sleeping bag and food supply and for one of us their personal medication had gone ahead and were deep in the park! We obviously accepted the conditions because there was no choice to make for us!
The next morning when we went to the management to complain they did not even apologize but said that „the things like that“ happen. They tried to lie to us again saying the did not have a breakdown for 12 months and when we contradicted them because we had broken down on their other truck four days earlier, they just went silent.
Lastly, I would like to say that I feel deeply sorry for the employees of this company who tried to make it work but are sent out into the Park with dangerously bad running vehicles! They even told us, that they keep reporting to their bosses that the cars have problems and nothing is done about it!
