The place is nice. Very comfortable thatched chalets with hot water & shower. Beautiful view of the Chobe river from the chalets. Well maintained lawn. However they do not have room service for food. Found that annoying. Sometimes you are tired & just want to order food directly to your room.

We travelled with a group of friends earlier in June. I am aware of the floods that damaged the property just a short while ago. The accommodation in the chalets where great. We had plenty of hot water, comfortable beds and a view of the river. Our room was serviced daily and we really enjoyed our stay. The only gripe we have was with the breakfasts. I understand that we were part of a large group of 23 people, but they were not at all organised. We had to ask for glasses, cutlery, cups ect. The meals itself were well made and we could enjoy it after waiting for a while. Just maybe we should also remember that this is Africa…
All in all we had a great four days at the Lodge and would return as soon as we can. After Cape Town, Kasane is the place where I would love to live.

Unfortunately we changed our original stay of 3 days to 1 as we decided to visit Vic Falls as we were so close. The rooms were very comfortable and all had mosquito nets as it is a malaria area. Staff all very accommodating and kindly let us hook our caravans up to electricity while we went across to Zimbabwe. Food was great, wifi was available, but quite slow. They arranged a cruise up the Chobe river which was phenomenal. My family are all bird lovers and they saw so many birds for the first time. Our guide's knowledge of the wild and animal life was first class.

We enjoyed our stay at the lodge. The location close to the river was very good, the rooms clean and well maintained. The staff was very helpful, especially as we arrived very late during our second stay and they helped us to return our rental car early the next day.

Stayed December 31st. We had a pleasant Rondavel which later became our nightmare as the owner's property was close to our accommodation and he had apparently been gone for a month and left his 2 guard dogs (Pit Bulls) alone and out in the yard during his absence, which meant all night long we heard these dogs barking incessantly. Apparently other people had complained to no avail. The staff were aware of this situation as one commented " oh the dogs again".....

The restaurant was awful. The New Years Eve dinner was approximately $100.00 and served the worst food.....lots of processed junk- and overcooked vegetables. The meat was greasy and chewy and the dessert tasted like a chemical pudding. The decor was non existent and we ate in a darkened area with no ambiance, candles or festive music. The breakfast was worse. Packages of instant coffee, greasy eggs and partially cooked toast. It seemed that the kitchen was run by some your fellows who seemed clueless about what constituted decent food and value for money. The rooms were in excess of $100.00 US nightly.
I would not recommend this Lodge....too many others to choose from with better value and food offerings.

We booked for a week bed n breakfast and although the setting, lodges, cleanliness and staff were concerned it was excellent however the breakfasts provided were appalling. Out of seven days we managed two breakfasts where the food on the menu was available and this because two groups of Germans and the owner showed up. There was also no encouragement to stay for any other meals so we ate out in Kasane.
The communal areas where not appealing and pretty run down which included the pool which we did not use once as it was disgusting.
All in all a great place to stop short term as a base but unless massive changes happen don’t bother with the food!

This lodge is being refurbished and the rooms are very nice but we had trouble from the very start , I booked my stay on bookings.com a few weeks before we left for our holiday ,
We could not find the lodge , after driving for 9 hours this was a bit irritating the co ordinates given to us were incorrect so we drove around could not find a sign , so tried phoning , no answer
When we finally got to the lodge it was as though we were a surprise .
We said we would be having dinner and we were given a very small menu which we didn't mind but what ever we ordered was not available so we ordered 4 of the chicken dinner we were told there was only three so two of us shared , they could not find a room that's Airconditoner worked , my husband and I got a room that's aircon worked but my daughter and her fiancé were moved 4 times eventually they were given a room but after awhile it started working as a heater so I tried to find someone to help move them , at 9:45 in the evening I couldn't find anyone so found the Secuirity Gaurd who phoned for help , they moved my daughter again , but they ended up sleeping with no aircon and no fan as all the fans were disconnected , I had no water in my room and was given two cans of soda water to drink ,
There was a kettle but no plug on it ,
On the garmin it still shows up as Torro lodge so one of the reasons we could not find it .
I won't be going back

After we had visited really excellent, pleasant, warm and friendly lodges in Namibia this accommodation was a little disappointing.
When we drove from Kasane to Kazangula ferry, in the direction where we expected to find the lodge according to written information, we noticed a small sign. When we followed this we finally reached the lodge via a number of secondary poor roads without any further additional signs/information. Later we noticed that the main and considerably shorter route leading to the loge was somewhat further in the Kazangula direction, as indicated by a large, clear board. So why this first sign? Why do you confuse your visitors?
On arrival the staff at the reception reacted somewhat cool and chaotic and seemed not very adequate. First we were informed that we had not booked, later this was a mistake. We were not informed about local activity options such as a Chobe river cruise or a visit of Vic Falls, but when we persistently informed this was all possible. We must say that the Chobe boat trip was interesting. However, the difference with 19 years ago, when we also visited Kasane and made an evening boat trip, was enormous. At that time there were 2 of maybe 3 boats on the river, now probably at least 30! Nevertheless, it was nice and interesting. We also booked a trip to Vic Falls, and this also went well. We stayed in a room inside a building with about 6 rooms, without terrace or any view or possibility to sit outside our room, really disappointing considering the really attractive location of the lodge along the river.
We did not have dinner at the lodge; breakfast was rather austere.
Sorry, it is difficult to be very enthusiastic about this lodge.

This day starts terribly!. We are up at 6 and go to the dining room for our breakfast, which was included. There were about 18 people there drinking coffee and some eating cereal. I couldn’t find a coffee cup, but so what, they were out of coffee. I asked around for a cup and I really believe they only had 18 cups. So if you wanted a cup you would have to get one off of a vacated table and go wash it. But still no coffee. I asked for eggs you would have thought I had asked for polar bear. No luck. I walked about the dining room for awhile and finally decided to go fix my own eggs. It is clear that this kitchen operates on a rather peculiar MO. You clear tables when a table is needed for an arriving guest. If they are to get food you find, among the dirty dishes piled up in the kitchen sinks, the pieces necessary and wash that single piece. The kitchen is dark, no light and dirty dishes everywhere. I went to the kitchen and they were cooking 2 eggs. That is to say there was a large skillet with 2 eggs set off of the fire with eggs hopefully to be turned over. I pointed to them and said clearly, That’s what I want, so she brought these same two eggs to our table, uncooked. I followed her back to the kitchen with this plate of never turned over eggs, commandeered the skillet and dumped the eggs in sunny, side down. I proceeded to cook them to my liking and then went to the table. Never have seen such a place. I feel sure that when the last guest goes home every night, they close the doors and follow. They don’t clean tables until they are needed, they don’t wash dishes until they are needed, picture that! Don’t ever go there!

Can you braai (bbq) when renting a chalet?

The chalets do not have braai facilities. Maybe you could use one at the campsite if they are not to busy. We spoke to management and they arranged a braai for us, but we were about 22 people in the group.Enjoy.
